Congrats on your new venture, and your next adventure in fatherhood. Best of luck and success to the whole Cadre crew.
Y’all’s video was awesome. Silent and it speaks for itself. Loved it. Please produce more content 👍🏻😀
Awesome Video! By Chance, What kind of lumbar pack do you use?
thank you for taking us with you. I really enjoy your trip. Regards from Switzerland
Look like great times! Cool you captured a glimpse of it on the camera
Not very interesting.
Why would you sit in wide open like that.
This came up on autoplay. I don't normally watch hunting videos, but I was glancing at the TV during the intro and saw that ridge in front of the Notch. I killed my first bull elk there in 1995. I could pick out the exact spot as the video was playing. Haven't been there since. Thanks for the video.
I like your style. Reminded my of wyoming hunting camp 50 yrs ago. Keep it old school
Greatest elk hunting video I have ever seen! I hunt black bear in Arkansas and it’s nothing as rugged as this, but there’s nothing as real or beautiful as Montana!!! Y’all are true mountain men! Thanks for the excellent video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Montana is a special place.
Appreciate the video! Most only show you how to de-breast it.
Отличная охота! У меня в Забайкалье очень похожие места, и похожая охота.
Thank you. What do you hunt for there?
Great video and a great hunt. I can really appreciate what it took to put all this together. Congratulations on filling that tag, what kind of rifle was that at 4:24? Thanks
Thanks. Rifle was a Mode 70 Winchester Featherweight in .308.
Where can i find the energy chart shown in the video? Checked the links listed and couldnt find it i. The article. Thanks!
I think it only exists as a chart we made for the Awaken the Hunter course. You’ll just have to sign up for the course.. ;) Send us your email on our contact page of our website and we’ll try to get you a copy.
Really great video. I couldnt believe how much you and my buddies hunted the same but in Colorado. Right down to wool clothing and packing in our camp in sleds. Most folks dont know what it takes tondo this kind of hunt. Its not for the weak of heart. Good on you guys. This was truly enjoyable to watch. Very well done. Thank you for letting us in your camp.
Wool and backcountry sled hunting..? Can’t be all bad. ;) Would love to see some photos of your camp if you’re open to it. Reach us on our contact page. www.HumanNatureHunting.com/contact
nice hunt. great video.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice video! Looks like the shot caught the camera man a little off guard 😂
Ha, yes. He’s still getting used to it.. But to give him credit, it’s always louder and more surprising when you’re not the one pulling the trigger.
at the beginning of this silent film , the fella kicking the frozen elk droppings around was wearing what make of boots . they almost look like Hoffmans or Vasques. I'm from Northwest Montana and this brings back a lot of hunting memories well done !
Thanks. They were the Kenetrek Mountain boots. They’ve treated me well. -Bruce
😂 I know exactly where this is. Great film and story telling! I would personally leave a bit more to the imagination on the scenery. I know that place is already pretty well know but no need to blow it completely up.
We hear you and thanks for not divulging the location. Our intent is to keep it unknown. And, luckily, Montana is full of places like this.
In Washington once we get that much snow most of the elk are down at lower elevations.
Well done Bruce keep the videos coming
Thanks, mate.
Great video, little talking, hunting the hard way. Glad to see you filled a tag, tag soup for me this year.
Awesome video
I love the silent movie. I really appreciate the format. Found it super engaging. Congrats on a successful hunt.
Thanks, Dylan. Hope things are well up north.
I really admire this kind of hunting, though I prefer horses and mules. Great video, liked the pvc trick for water, hadn’t seen that one! Keep up the good work !
Horses and mules are great too!
Great video! Takes me back to my youth! Need to get back to that stuff again instead of being soft!
It’s like an annual boot camp some years but I feel great walking out of the mountains.
You guys dont mess around with camp! Thats an awesome setup.
What a cool set up and awesome place!! Congrats on a well deserved bull!!!
With the age of modern high tech equipment and fancy music editing your hunt was a serious breath of fresh air. Great job keeping it old school and awesome camp!
Thanks. much appreciated.
Love it. No overbearing music or annoying narration. Just peace, serenity, snow, and elk.
took me 2 hours to find this video, very helpful thank you!
You bet. Hope you're having a good season!
Thanks!
Loved the video…beautiful Mule Deer habitat….no lousy music, or senseless drivel from the hunters….how it should be done…nice buck, btw
Do you really hunt with a live round in the chamber?
Who wouldn’t hunt with a round on the chamber. Dumb question round in the chamber safety on. See the animal click boom. Do you even hunt?
No hero shots??
None needed..? ;)
To small?
Love this! And what awe-inspiringly beautiful country you got to spend time in.
Lot of old fashion, good old common sense in just one video. Well done.
I am so sick of all the questions and new answers you writers have on guns and cartridges ! the guns and cartridges used to take THE SAME GAME more then a hundred yrs ago will Still do the SAME TODAY ! If it ain't broke don't fix it ! End of story ! Leave it alone !
Love the Toyota
interesting! what are the brands of the wool layers?
Sorry for the delay; just back from a few weeks in the backcountry elk camp. Wool pants are Filson, shirts are Filson, Woolrich, and Pendleton, though it's getting more difficult to find traditional patterns/styles. Not pictured but another wool pant option is Big Bills. Generally speaking, virgin wool tends to be warmer per ounce of fabric rather than recycled wool. Have you found any wool brands that you like?
You hunt for the feeling of control, you hunt for the feeling of power, you hunt so that wild animals cannot have the freedom you think you should have......OR you hunt for food. I respect the ladder.....There is no other reason to hunt, no matter what one says......Every other reason why you claim that you hunt can be accomplished by just going out in the field and appreciating nature and wildlife with your eyes and soul. Maybe you cannot look that deep into your soul to find that. It takes a strong person to do so. I hope you learn how to be able to find that one day.
Pretty sure you don't understand
❤ I hunt therefore I am
good vid, new subscriber, thank you
Thanks for tuning in!
I LOVE this and I love you guys! ❤
Thank you, Martha! Much appreciated. -B
30-30, 308, 30-06, or 300 WM. Cant really go wrong with any of these theres a reason they have all been so popular for decades. Maybe 7mm-08 or 270 or 7mm RM for lighter recoil.
Exactly. There's no one right answer. In reality, there are probably too many choices. But the firearms manufacturers need new things to sell...
No love for 6.5 grendel?
I am not familiar with this one. I looked it up and it sounds like a nice cartridge. Do you hunt with it? Deer? Elk? Maybe on the lighter end for elk..?
Beautiful ❤
Thanks, Ariel!
THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about a vid on under 300 yards and over… vs the animal.
Good idea. You mean the differences in cartridge selection for close and long-range for deer, elk, etc? Personally, I enjoy the challenge of getting in close so don't intend to shoot real long range. As you suggest, things start to change beyond 300 yards. Faster, flatter bullets don't drop as much but they still drop so I feel it comes down to really knowing your ballistic chart for your round (which can be calculated online using muzzle velocity, bullet weight, and ballistic coefficient) and paying attention to energy and terminal ballistics. After 300 yards wind can start to have a significant effect on trajectory and it is a much more dynamic situation where cartridge selection is just one of many factors to consider.
You can't maintain good marksmanship if the recoil is uncomfortable. It doesn't matter what game you're after, even paper targets. Every shooter has their threshold for recoil tolerance. Find that, and then pick your caliber.
Yes. We need confidence in both our rifle and our ability to shoot it. Without both of those it doesn't work. I always suggest to start lighter and form as good of habits as possible. Shot placement is key, and as you suggest the level of recoil (and recoil tolerance) plays into that quite a bit.
