Finseth waltz from the playing of Ole Bull

An Ole Bull waltz composed during one of his US tours. I learned this from Bob Andresen of Duluth who had it from Mondovi, WI area fiddler Leonard Finseth for whom he played guitar. Fiddle key of D, here in C on the G/C box.

Med pankakor, lingonbär och kaffe... In a medium mixing bowl, sift a scant cup of flour with a pinch of salt. Add 2 eggs and 1.5 cup whole milk. Add a splash of vanilla, beat well. For best results let batter stand 30 minutes. Makes 6. Serve with berries, roll or fold and eat by hand. Whipped cream optional

Exercise in "taking the edge off' by utilizing tonal shift rather than straight chord changes and adding a hint of mixolydian in the intro. Played in "G on the pull" style on my G/C box.

Waltz of Heikki Lahti. "Don't leave" Learned from Rauli Tuttila. Kiitos.
A highly enjoyable waltz.
Glad you like it. Arguably THE Finnish waltz to know.
Absolutely wonderful! Beautifully played! Thanks for sharing.
Love this. ❤️
Bob McQuillen/American classic. Hohner Corso A/D
Awesome 😎
Just played this one with Ralph and Janna
Prachtig lied.
Yes, I just had to learn this when I heard it from Janneke.
Good Playing !
Thank you!
Puiku ! Ačiū ! Aitäh! Vielen Dank!
I am glad you like it! I listened to a lot of people playing on lõõtspil, garmon, Hohner and other instruments and made a synthesis from what I heard. Now I have been listening to the composer play it on piano and have changed things a bit without trying to make an exact copy.😊
Har du noter på den här? Grymt spelat
The original key is Dm. My video is in Am, played on a G/C box. The notes were included in the booklet which came with the original album. I play it by ear.
Toll, was du aus dieser Quetsche rausholst!
Your playing is also very fine. As you can see, I am fascinated by how much can be done with a 21/8 box.
@@gustavwind2881 Yes, it is amazing. But when you play together with others, they don’t always want to stick to Am and G 🤷
@@GartenFolk You may also play in C, various modes of D and some in F on this G/C box.
Hey ya geezer squeezer. Still can't make them as good as you.
I'm trying to learn this song on an octave mandolin and it's fun. this song is really beautiful, thanks for sharing it!
Good to see you back. Enjoy!
I learned so much from you Dick!
Nice played and a interesting accordeon. Good sound
That's really great - thank you 🙂
What a fantastic performance. I hope some day I can get like that
Thank you. It has taken a few years to get this far and there is more to come. It's a bit different every time...
Красиво! О'Каролан оставил богатое наследие. Разучиваю это произведение не укулеле)
Best of this
Ilus! Aitäh!
Just lovely on this Friday afternoon! Thank you :)
Thanks for your kind comment. It's a two tune meditation and I know you'll enjoy playing it.
You made this? It sounds special: Rememberings? I like it!😀
Omoide lyric by Tsunekichi Suzuki: See your pale breath floating over there As it slowly drifts off in the air See it billow into the clouds in the sky And vanish before your eyes See the white clouds reaching out there hands In the sky so far above the land Breathing in the air you breathed out Rolling on, Rolling On, Rolling On And do you remember The clouds streaming by ‘bove the river? And didn’t they look just like this? Or maybe my mind plays tricks And do you remember the glaring sun And the dog sleeping there ‘neath the eaves And all of these memories Fade into the sky as they leave On the other side of the sky There’s another sky there so blue There’s not a single soul or a sound But there’s a rolling, rolling cloud And do you remember The clouds streaming by ‘bove the river? And didn’t they look just like this? Or maybe my mind plays tricks See your pale breath floating over there As it slowly drifts off in the air See it billow into the clouds in the sky And vanish before your eyes And vanish before your eyes lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
Waauw! I like it.
Glad you like it! Nice to hear from you. Still loving your paper accordions, art work and duets with your sister.
Very nice!!
Hello Gustav, Very nice played. It is a beautiful melody.
What a really nice take on one of my absolute favorite tunes!
So glad you like it. I love tunes that use both the major and minor thirds. And the little Hohner has a nice bright sound. It's from the 1930's.
@@gustavwind2881 yes, it sounds really sweet and nice on that accordion, how cool that it's that old!
So nice, thanks a lot! Epic bass sound on that box :)
Hohner G/C
Really like this arrangement, with very convincing bass lines plus right hand chords, and a particular spirit of brave defiance with underlying melancholy. I even like the sound of the Erica, and appreciate the quality of the recording too. Thanks. It's difficult to make my own recording now with this to follow!
Thanks, Jack. Recorded on my phone in a 16' x 26' room with a wooden floor. Liked your take on Vasen!
Even better than the first one. :-)
TH U : YAY!! What a nice instrument. Patrick Ball plays it beautiful on the harp. 2:30 AM HERE!
gorgeous! ✨
Thank you. I am subscribed to your channel and enjoy your musical Pokerworkery.
@@gustavwind2881 I was just thinking exactly the same of your channel! Great stuff! ✨👏🙏
Two of my very favorite tunes
Proper good
That's the smallest button box I have seen to date.
It a proper box
😊lovely 🎶 thank you
😮🤗🥰
I like the easy way of playing this Beautiful tune.
It is a joy to play on the fiddle in the key of D. Very natural and full of good humor. I hope you will play it?!?
Gustav Wind I think I am not good enough in push and pull that fast 🥲
I meant your easy way of playing
Lovely. But what's original of the Gråtlåten? It's not the Hjort Anders/Pekkos Per one I was expecting.
Torsten... I have it from Swedish fiddlers at a bystugakväll back in '92 or '93. I think the proper title is probably "Gråtvalsen". I will correct it now. Edit: Gråtvalsen av Ale Möller from the album "Bouzoukispelman" Tak så mycket!
@@gustavwind2881 Stort tack!
@@torstenf8613 Varsågo'!
It tastes like a candy so I like more😀🥳💕
Just commenting to say your timing is great for a birthday waltz- we’ve a birthday clump in January. Appreciate you bringing the Estonian tunes out, there’s always something new to discover out there. Like how the tune rises up in the second part and that’s a lovely sweater. 😉
😍
Glad you like it. This was intended as a sketch to suggest some ideas for playing "on the pull". I have become very happy with it myself.
I'm impressed with your musicianship. What keys can you play in with that accordian? How did you learn to play?
@@oshgcan3350 This box plays in the keys of G and C, plus the related minors and modes. He’s been at it a long time- experiential approach I think. 😉
Wonderful. I started on a GC Corso ... holy cow do I love that sound. Very nice seclusion you hare having, there.
Wonderfully wet.
This sound really good Gustav
Your Hohner sounds so beautiful ! Very good song too ! I wish my Dad was alive to hear you play this.
Wonderful. Famous tune in Holland👍
Your harmonies tend to be in thirds while mine are 6ths. With Hohner voicing of the reeds you need more room😎😀
I'm jealous of your way of playing. Awesome. I am almost crying because of your music.
"If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, The appetite may sicken, and so die. That strain again! it had a dying fall: O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound, That breathes upon a bank of violets, Stealing and giving odour! Enough; no more: 'Tis not so sweet now as it was before. O spirit of love! how quick and fresh art thou, That, notwithstanding thy capacity Receiveth as the sea, nought enters there, Of what validity and pitch soe'er, But falls into abatement and low price, Even in a minute: so full of shapes is fancy That it alone is high fantastical."
been too long since your last video! missed your squeeze box !
If you missed me, aim lower next time. I'm not as tall as I look...🤪
Looks tasty- and sounds better. Thanks for sharing
