    I got question for you! I am doing pump curves on new pumps most of the time and actual dead head pressure doesn't match with the given performance curve dead head(curve given by manufacturer)! I checked speed, and impeller size and new pump might not have worn seal or impeller. Is it possible to have air trapped in water system and it will give a wrong reading as air has low density!? its happening a lot! I am really confused and looking for solution to how to find if air in water system? or its something else causing problem! Please help me if you can. Thanks!

      The TA and Armstrong valves both have a memory stop feature. There is a small Allen key you tighten down in the center of the valve head to lock in the balanced position. Once memory stop is tightened up, you will still be able to close the valve all the way but you will not be able to open it passed the balanced position.

  • @ACHVACTAB1

    Doing it both ways to see what gets you the best average ? ( You don't know this do you ?? ) Use a methode to proportional balance and most important is understanding that adjusting the OBVD dampers at the grill will screw with your ak factor . Beware and use a flow hood if you can to verify.

  • @ACHVACTAB1
    @ACHVACTAB1 10 лет назад

    Note: Since the typical flex duct to the box is not nice and straight it's likely your reading will be way off. Either traverse or the typical method to determine flow is using an airflow hood.

  • @ACHVACTAB1
    @ACHVACTAB1 10 лет назад

    Important to note you can not average the velocity pressures, you must convert each to velocity and than get the average. Additionally, this is 2014, the magnahelic is outdated around 15-years ago. The digital manometer's are cheap and accurate.

    • @robertblanchard7294
      @robertblanchard7294 9 лет назад

      We use several different Digital Micro Manometers during our practical lessons. The point of using a Magnahelic, or any other basic instrument, is to introduce a student to the basic understanding of Velocity Pressure and the conversion of VP to a Velocity. That understanding would be lost if a student took 30 readings and just displayed an "Average Velocity from a digital instrument".

  • @ACHVACTAB1
    @ACHVACTAB1 10 лет назад

    Bob, This is 2014 and it has proved to be so erratic I will call this method useless . Get a flow hood or do a traverse but that method went out long ago.

    • @darwinlim4837
      @darwinlim4837 Год назад

      Hello sir. As per this comment find me helpful since I have to rely to the equipment to check the actual vs design. May I ask sir the computation part where you need to multiply the velocity with the area. How will you determine the area with diffuser using flow hood? Using traverse its easy by using the duct area but with diffuser should it be same? I compare the values the traverse has greater value

  • @ACHVACTAB1

    I suggest noting the system would need to be sequenced to it's full flow capacity which allows a pump to perform and not be restricted by the system itself. Also important is when a suction reading is negative you would add and not subtract from the discharge side. Aloha-Paul Morse-AABC-TBE

  • @ACHVACTAB1
    @ACHVACTAB1 10 лет назад

    Bob, Not sure why you set the meter to bypass and than hook up to ports. Bypass equals the + & - gauge reading, than zero it, Now you ready to connect it and measure DP You also should note the likely motorized modulating valve that MUST be open before you do the above. Aloha-Paul Morse-AABC-TBE

    • @OneOfDaLast
      @OneOfDaLast 3 года назад

      You can zero it after connecting as well.

  • @ACHVACTAB1
    @ACHVACTAB1 10 лет назад

    Bob, ur tab procedure is badly flawed. The manometer would be used as a VERY last resort. That means will get you within 20% - 50% accuracy pending main branch run to the inlet. Flowhood is the simplistic way to determine actual Cfm. The fan powered box where you not nothing to do at the filter inlet point is actually the MOST important point to test. Once correct fan cfm is set you need to match that with primary air to assure getting the 55.0 F leaving temp (Typ) This is done by making sure the filter inlet point is not positive or negative but neutral. Unless you want to draw plenum air at full flow or discharge cold primary air out that point which cost money. Aloha Paul Morse-AABC-TBE
