thank you!!
Superb! Thanks!
Thank you for this video, very helpful
Very helpful Nick! A suggestion: Slow tthe tempo of your setup to a pace that syncs up with someone implementing your settings. Perhaps secure the mic/tx to free the hand. My VI has caused my Q2 to be in my for sale queue.
I'm still a little uncomfortable on camera and my handheld mic is like a safety blanket lol. I've tried a few Leicas and I also prefer the VI... Glad you found something helpful in this video!
@@nickroush You shared some pearls for sure. I appreciate the thinking.
Very helpful 😊
Were any of these tips helpful?
Super helpful! I’ve had my vi for a few months and your practical tips would have been so helpful on my initial setup
Very helpful, even with my V (I'm still waiting for my VI to arrive-been waiting since February…). What especially caught my attention was the Auto Update Custom Setting… setting. I wish the V had that already. So, other than the IBIS, that's something I'm also looking forward to.
I didn't know that was missing on the V. Like I mentioned this is my first Fuji but that setting has helped a ton when I'm tinkering with new recipes. Hope you get your VI soon!
2:52 recipe for disaster. Please don't use 3rd party batteries to save a few bucks which may ruin your camera's electronics :)
@@ashrafulalam1734 I disagree. I’ve used third party and brand name batteries for over 15 years with many different cameras. Never had any issues. That being said, insure your camera gear.
Where did you get those small split rings/loops on the camera? I would love to get some that size and shape.
They came with the black peak design toggles. I added a link to the description for "Black anchors" I do love the little split rings. They're oval shaped and have a little plastic cover on them. Very low profile.
Thank you! Greatly appreciated. Love your videos. Really good stuff!
Thank you!
Been fortunate enough to have the VI since April of this year and although it’s not the end-all of cameras, it’s my favorite one ever. The form factor combined with the really solid sensor makes it a ton of fun
I agree. It’s not technically better than my Sony cameras but it’s way more fun. The wallet isn’t ready for it but I’ve been looking at the Fuji gfx system. Would love the quality of medium format with Fuji film sims and colors.
one thing I need for my fuji x100vi is a fuji x100vi
Hahaha I knew I was gonna get comments like this. Wish you luck my friend!
you literally deserve a lot more of subs and views!!!!
Appreciate that! Channels still pretty new but I’m having fun with it. Hoping it grows!
What is that black tape on your lens cap? I was thinking of doing the same to mine cause my hood is always falling off.
It’s called gaffer tape. It’s made for the photo industry, it’s similar to duct tape but doesn’t leave behind a residue. Most photo shops carry it.
you might not need it now that it has ibis but the Manfrotto MP3 goes a long way with these little Fujis...
Have never seen this! Pretty cool looking. The IBIS in this VI is incredible can handhold shots down to 1/4 second.
Have you found any other cool accessories for your x100?
I currently only own an X100V, and am still waiting on my black X100VI to arrive someday (whenever that happens). Once the VI arrives, though, I want to add a thumb grip. I'm holding off buying one now because, as I understand it, the ones compatible with the V aren't necessarily compatible with the VI, or at least not all of them.
Hope you get yours soon! I've seen some cool thumb grips but I use off camera flash a lot and need to keep my hot shoe open for my flash trigger.
I subscribed, you do too, man
I got a thumb rest and the grip from SmallRig, change everything.
Love that Toyota pickup. What year? I had very similar setup some years ago.
@@Mojave511 unfortunately has to sell this truck a month ago. Loved it so much. Miss it. 99 tacoma with 315,000. Had it for 10 years.
Very good video and loved the photos! I am looking forward to seeing more X100VI images.
Love the video and minimalist kit. Which bag/cube are you using at 4:13? Are you using Peak Design cubes? Thanks
Thanks for watching! Yes I use a mix of peak design cubes for all my gear, this minimalist kit is in the extra small camera cube.
Thanks for sharing! After watching your kit video, I would love to hear about and see how you use those lens teleconverters you showed. I'm curious if they are just as good as having an interchangeable lens body. I now shoot with an X-T3 which I've had for several years and really like. But, I've been wondering if something even smaller would be nice. Now, getting an X100 series might be a bit difficult, but I was wondering how one of the XE series cameras might compare since I already have a few lenses. I also do lots of hiking with my X-T3 and love using it. Just thought it might be cool to have an even smaller body to carry everywhere. Thanks again for your info!
Planning to do a video about the teleconverters! They add a ton of versatility to the x100. Not sure if they’re a total replacement to an interchangeable lens kit but they are fun!
Well, that's some kit. No wonder you were out of breath in that ascent! Thanks for the overview of your equipment. Have a great week.
Haha I’m out of breath with and without the gear! Lots of steep high altitude trails around here… thanks for watching!
You look like you know what you're doing but as a longtime Fuji user who also just loves the jpegs my best advice would be to shoot raw only. Double tap the Q button on any keepers to flip them into jpegs or if it's a particularly good shot try a few different recipes on the same image. Now the only jpegs on your card are the keepers which makes it super easy to zing them all to your phone (select all then zing).
I’ll have to give this a try!
You make it easy to follow 🤔
Thanks for watching!
Man the photo at 9:00 love that 😻
Appreciate that! That guy was a beast rock climber. He did a few different routes on the mountains behind him.
Loved the video, I got the X-T5 since it was impossible to get the x100. But I'm new to photography so maybe it was a good thing. The x100 sure is a beauty though 😍 Whats your fav recipes/film sims?
Yea, it's a tough camera to find but I've heard good things about all of Fuji's cameras. I have plans for a video about the recipes I use on my camera!
I like the information about the flash since I have been looking to get into that at some point. On the fence with regards to the Sony A7iv. My Canon R50 with the 35 1.8 is always on hand.
great video. I can agree to everything. This camera makes me also fall in love with photography again 🙂 One question: you assigned a button for marking a photo to transfer it the the phone. I didn't found that option. Could you explain in detail what you have done? Once again, thanks for that video!
Glad you're enjoying the camera! I've been working on a video for some of my favorite settings including that phone transfer option!
I had no idea you had your own channel Nick. Good stuff! I've been following you two over on Amanda's channel for years now. Thanks for sharing your set up. I am considering selling all my (hard-earned) Canon gear and moving over to Sony... but, I'm emotionally attached so going slow lol.
Yea! My channel's pretty new but I'm having fun with it! The big system switch is always tough. I've only done it once, when all my Nikon gear fell in a lake back in 2014.
Im really burnout too and Im about to get my x100vi today 🎉🎉🎉 btw really enjoy your video
Hope the x100vi gets you out shooting more! It's a fun little camera. Took me a while to get all my settings and film sims set but now it's such an easy camera to grab and shoot.
I could not believe the lack of subs you had. Your stuff is really really nice man. Actually practical on hands long usage stuff. Too many of the big guys are jumping systems every 2 months and their “reviews” are done after a day using the gear at a press event. Maybe I’m exaggerating but your kit seems actually well thought out.
I appreciate that! I've definitely gotten a ton of use out of my current gear setup.
The mosquito on my forehead got a free meal...
great review!!! i would like to see a video about a day of shooting with this camera :)
I’ll add that to my list! Thanks for watching
Wow! What really great results you have for such a tiny and useful kit. Very impressive. :)
Don't fall for this. That is a camera for some one who already is bored with the latest greatest in the market. A sony or canon can serve much more for your dollar.
That’s the same advice I give in the video…
Don’t fall for what? Did you even watch the video? The dude said don’t buy this camera for your first camera. Just another hater that’s mad they can’t get the camera. I bet you hate iPhones too.
After a 4 months waiting period, I finally got mine. Black. I also bought the lens hood and a half leather casing. Set the basic stuff, put it on Automatic, all over, and went out shooting. Something marvellous just happened: FUN, JOY of shooting was back!!! The images have lots of detail, even against the sun. I love your honest and the Meat & Potatoes approach on your video. I'll resume my experience and my $$$ tag: MONEY WELL SPENT. Keep on sharing!!
That’s awesome to hear!
Loved the video. I would like to see some film simulation ideas. Some ideas to kick start creativity.
Have a video planned all about the film sims I use!
Would you please list your favourite recipes in the future videos? Thanks for this one :)
Yea! Have a whole video coming soon for that!
The best video about the X100VI I’ve seen yet! I’m ordering it for the same reason - I want to make my photography fun again. Thank you!
Thanks so much man! Hope you get yours soon!
This one is 1.6 k? Xpro2 forever… the xpro2 is just perfect for every kind of work….i give nothing abot the 16 mp more resolution… in first a camera needs to make fun….. and to me the xpro2 makes more fun than any other hybrid range finder system….
I believe it’s a 1.5x crop. It’s my first Fuji, all my other gear is Sony, haven’t had a chance to try the x pro.
Great video, thanks
Glad you liked it!
I am so sick of this POS camera. It's such a POS camera I threw it against the wall rather than sell it to someone else. The youtube influencers who promote this camera - please get a real fuking job with health care insurance - are all POSs.
Awesome video mate. I'm in the same boat as you and have just ordered one. This has got me pumped for it!
Hope you get yours soon!
I also love the jpegs Fujifilm puts out. It sounds counter-intuitive but it is the reason I shoot raw only. I just double tap the Q button to flip any keepers into jpegs or if it's a particularly good shot (or I messed something up) I'll go to town on it editing it in -camera. I also do multiple edits of shots I like (bw, different wb etc). Now the only jpegs on the card are keepers which make pinging them all to my phone super simple (select all then ping). Cropping, levelling and very minor tweaks I do in Snapseed. I've never been a fan of hyper-edited pictures and once I just accepted that I can't really edit a picture better than Fuji makes a jpeg life became a lot easier.
That sounds like a good workflow!
Great, I will add two great features of the Fuji X100VI that you don't mention are *huge* for the kind of photos you showed in the video: That camera has a buit in 4 stops ND fiter and a leaf shutter, so the flash sync speed of it is 1/4000th of a second. You can make amazing things with that configuration.
Yes! I love both of those features. You run into a little issue trying to shoot 1/4000 at f2, the shutter can’t keep up and you get some funky bokeh. But then you flip on the ND and you can shoot f2 in full sun!
Photos look so good! Mind sharing what recipe you used?
Planning a video soon with my favorite recipies!
I would really like to see more of your portrait photography with your minimalist kit; the Fuji with the 50mm tele-conversion lens and the Profoto flash. Something similar to the portraits you made in Ecuador. Thanks for the great videos.
Thanks for watching Jeff! I have plans to share more images from this kit. Hoping to plan some international trips too for more portraits.
I too was lucky to get a vi (in black) on day one in the UK (28 Feb 24). My first X100 camera, although I do use the Fuji system. Took it skiing to Switzerland in March and have used it since for hiking and family days out. If there is one word that sums up this camera for me it is - fun.
That is lucky! My local shop said their preorder list was over 250 people and they got 16 cameras at launch.
great video man all your photos is my fav
I appreciate that!
That’s a nice kit. Small, convenient. Sample shots? Maybe some links to used/showed equipment? thank you. 🙏 Oops, it’s here already. I apologize.
When I made this video I didn't have many sample shots with this new setup. Taylor the redhead somewhere in the middle of this video is from the Fuji. Future videos will have some more shots from this camera!
It’s a nice little toy. An expensive toy that is. But….. I enjoy it too. Now all our pics look the same. Looking forward to seeing more videos on this camera. TFS 🙏
I have the same story as you on how you got the x100vi. The only difference is that I got mine a week after it was released.
Not bad! I know some people still waiting! :(
I have the x100vi and an X-E2s as well. Rather than using the tele converter I have just been using the 35mm on the XE. I might get the teleconverter too now I've seen this. Nice video, thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
