I started playing this by ear. I do it almost the same as you (minus the slaps), but I play most of it a whole octave lower on one of my 5 strings. It fits the low voice better imo. And I like the growl of those lower notes on the B string too. Nice playing btw!!

great job. if you use your left thumb on the back of the neck your fingers wont get as tired. pressing your thumb on the back of the neck helps support your fingers on the frets.

Pretty close. The muting is key. There’s a very distinct muting goin on the way this particular bassist delivers it.

the 2nd chorus **isnt slap(measure 33-40). its just finger style the notes, THEN the interlude is slap. but you got it right after that

Loved that you reacted to 3 songs of a band that is new to you. Best way to have a decent idea of what their style and capabilities are. Great job on drawing a similarity to Alice in Chains. Both bands became popular in the early 90s due to their grunge style. Grunge was also known as the Seattle Sound, so only bands from Seattle can be labeled as grunge technically, all other bands with a Grunge style had to be labeled as alt rock. To me it's the difference between bourbon and whiskey. Technically bourbon only came from Bourbon County Kentucky, but the rules have since relaxed in what can be labeled as a bourbon. It's much more scientific now. I don't think labeling a band in the Grunge genre ever went to that scientific level because people will still get mad if you call a California band like Stone Temple Pilots grunge. 😂 Heads up and be prepared for Gunge-ites to call you out if you label a non Seattle band as grunge. Anyhoo... some of the hallmarks of Grunge music was born from punk/hard rock, but it's usually much more complex instrumentally, compositionally, and lyrically. I love grunge lyrics and Eddie Vedder is one of the best IMO. Also, Grunge bands seem to have some super-power talented and unique sounding vocalist; Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), Layne Staley (Alice In Chains), etc. You saying it is fast and slow at the same time makes perfect sense for EvenFlow. When the drumer and guitarist are pacing fast, the bassist is playing long scales of notes up and down which makes it feel slower. There's a bit of juxtaposition like this throughout the song. Eddie Vedder also changes his pacing throughout singing. He draws out the length of the first word in each phrase, the double times the rest of the words. I hadn't made that conscious observation before and I've heard this song thousands of times no doubt. Very clever to pick up on that. Looking forward to watching more reactions.
