I am an IMG based in India and preparing for My USMLE Step 1 exam in 2020. Through this channel, I yearn to share my study strategy, resources as well as the mistakes I have made with IMGs round the globe so they could make informed plans when they start upon this journey for getting a residency in US. I will share videos on a regular basis talking about the latest news in the world of USMLE, the best resources to bank upon, the best Q-Bank to use and time management for exam as well. Aspirants may share their experience and ask their queries in the comment section and we’ll be very glad to reply to them personally.

India is facing a lot during this pandemic. Problems ranging from floods, earthquakes, locust attack to even a borderline war. We have lost our brave soldiers protecting our borders , the police, medical fraternity and essential workers are working tirelessly to keep the pandemic at bay. Families are bleeding sweat everyday to make ends meet. And yet all of us wake up to a new day, prepared for another challenge, hopeful that this mighty country of ours will stand tall and sing ballads of its struggle today for the generations to come.

If img lost edge of step 1; won't he get the edge from step 2 scores! So what changed?
Right now, if a student doesn't get a competitive score in his Step 1, he can try harder in Step 2 CK. With only Step 2 CK to prove your calibre, IMGs are left with a one shot at glory.

What's your opinion about old graduates...?
Under 5 years of graduating is still game. Programs do prefer fresh graduates, but if an old graduate has the qualities a PD is looking for then there is literally no bias over who graduated when. Anyone above 5 years of Graduation, and has something to produce for why were they doing all these years and wether that's relevant to the Residency program they are applying to will make the difference. If you apply to IM and have a home country Residency clubbed with some experience as a Senior Resident will only make your case stronger.
If someone preparing for both usmle and neet pg what will be the problem he migh be face ? I'm a 2nd yr student I am confused what to choose
Hey Satya! The problem you'll face is, Step 1 requires dedicated study period and doing Questions more than just flipping through notes. Also Step 1 will require you to prepare for the subjects in first and second proff. It's actually pretty hectic preparing for both. The cost for giving Step 1 ~90K. You can't just prepare for both. You can prepare for Step 1 and give NEET- Pg along it to try your luck. USMLE is huge commitment and involves a lot of different measures that have to be taken in order to be competitive. You can prepare for NEET-Pg at your home by just studying the books/notes.

@@satyabrata4322 Participate in activities, compere for CMEs, engage in volunteer work, get in touch with seniors who are on the same journey, learn about research methodologies and data analysis. Identify the field you would want to do a Residency in, go for Clinical rounds and identity any unique case and volunteer to write Case Reports with the help of attendings/SR/Asst Professors. Look for a study partner in your own batch. And most importantly, don't forget to enjoy your college life. 🧡

I have step 1 score 253 and planning to take toefl soon ..my qs is what are programs that accept img apart from VSLO with step 1 ? I know cleveland clinic and Mayo clinic but when i checked it again i found that mayo clinic has started accept student through vslo ..so is there any other programs?? My second qs.. how much fees in dollar needed to be paid by my faculty to be VSLO member ? Does it cost much for the first registration?
There's a whole bunch of places that accept students without VSLO. It's all a click away. I'll urge you to search for it and you'll find it really easily. There are multiple blogsites. You can try this website www.doctorsebas.com/. Regarding applying for VSLO, I'm sorry I'm not able to remember the amount. I'm busy with step prep right now and want to make a detailed video on this as soon as I get time. Test assured, VSLO should be used by students who don't have Step 1 yet, you can find hundreds of opportunities without VSLO if you have step score.
Hi, apart from UAB , stay fees are not included, is that right? So, does only UAB provide for stay while others are not. So must one find for the stay himself? Thank you in advance!
True. Others provide help with accommodation and sometimes a good tour with your co-students of the city, the stores etc.

I'm guessing anywhere around $ 1-1.5K including food travel etc.
Is it useful for Neet Pg?
NEET Pg is shifting towards asking integrated clinical and Basic Science Questions, so this will be very useful. But I'll suggest you use the trial period and identify for yourself.
