Doing a wide open test run
I'm not a Detroit guy, but damn that is cool.
This is one cool truck
Good job Nathan this truck sounds great 😊
I never get tired of listening to Detroit diesel running. Used to work in a mind when the Haul trucks ran 16 V 149 screaming Jimmy's. Nothing like it
Omg how sweet is this
A Jake would sound great on that.
That American flag in the background really sets the mood for the truck
What trans it got?
That’s MAGA communism right there!
A very cool truck, the Detroit is icing on the cake 👍
Now drive this thing for 12 hours straight.....what??...what???
😄
Buffer screw is in too far.
13 years and she's still the best sounding truck on RUclips
And that little red 89 chevy with the 453.❤
rrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!= 6 MPH
Thats Awesome Bro
It sounds like the Percephone !!!
It sounds like a rock'n' roll music! 👍
I would love to have a truck like that with a detroit 8V71 with a manual 5 or 6 speed tranny.
Good morning from Cape Cod 🦈 that sure is one awesome truck. With the automatic is certainly gets down and boogies nicely. There's nothing better than that Detroit sound 🤘✌️🇺🇲
Nice truck
Like a big block sucker just fits lol
That's one bad ass sounding truck id went with a stick shift myself but nice build👊
What modifications did you make to the front suspension to carry heavier motor?
Oh he must have upgraded the springs in the front axle to take all the extra weight, as it’s meant for medium duty trucks like the GMC 7000 and Brigadiers. Where did he find an aluminum block version? The 6v53s were always non-turbo though. So what Allison transmission does he have an AT540 or an MT650? It would have been far easier dropping a 6.5L V8 diesel in there, as it goes anywhere a big block Chevy V8 goes.
How in the world do you get that heavy thing in there and get the front end to hold it up?
Looks like a pulling truck
I've never seen an Aluminum Detroit block in all my years working on them, was it an aftermarket or possibly a military application block?
Awesome
Purchased 671 air compressor to inflate bicycle tires. 3 inch air hose Reduced to three quarters hose. Not used now. Purchased small one.
Allison the only way to go got them in every truck I own no shifting
That is so cool, love that sound.... Friend of mine on the OBS forum posted the link, i had to check it out!
Leaktroit? If you got it leaking than it's perfectly tuned
Very noice
Great !
I want an old 1-ton truck with Detroit Diesel 4-71 Jimmy grafted into it. Prefer a manual trans. No straight pipes.
Now thats a 6 cylinder i would drive Sounds sweet.
Hello Nathan c, could I feature this clip on my channel? Any comment what happened? Thanks

Worked on M113A2/A3 personnel carriers. I love the sound of that engine. Awesome.
Been watching this video for 12 years. Never get tired of it . Wonder where it is today.
ruclips.net/video/xNr4SiLtLrw/видео.htmlsi=o0J-rIVxZDxY9zm0 I think is the same truck
Damn
Me too. I wish I get to own one like this one day
If I could get a old 80s or older Chevy Truck and put a Detroit 453T in it. Thats all I wish for. Id be one of the happiest Guys on earth
Same here, bubba. Just showed it to my son, he was born when this vid came out. Ain't nothin like the sound of that truck!
What transmission and rear would you need to make hiway speed
LEAVE THE STOCK CHEVY GEARING AND USE A OVERDRIVE
Excellent 👍
I pulled the vin off of a 74 chevy c10, and i guess you could get a 6v-53 stock woth em! I thought that was the coolest thang in the world! This thing sounds so dang good
detroits were not available in any year c10
@@shaunnesbit1698 not the one i pulled the vin off of. it had the 350, and 6v-53 as the options for the engine
How many mpg's?
Didn't know the 6-53 was aluminum
YOU COULD GET BOTH ALUMINUM AND CAST IRON THE MILITARY AND BOATS PROBABLY USED THE MOST ALUMINUM
Reading some of the negative comments I don't get it! Everything about this is cool brother!
Love it so loud and slow gotta love a greasy old 2 stroke Detroit
If a 6v53 fits could a 71 or 92? Not sure if they have similar size blocks. Like the 6.9 and 7.3 are the same block just bored out
That truck is bitchin!!!! 👍🏻
