We know that sume "valkyries" were real women. They are referred to as reincrnated spirits popping up n successive generations. They are not unique in this. The reality is that these women were probably priestesses. A lot of what was written about them fits into that catagory.

What’s the right time of year to harvest basswood bark to separate the inner bark (just for the thick inner bark, not for rhetting/soaking it to get the thin papery strands)?

Give me a break, geologist were predicting the next Ice Age coming in the early 70s. You can still find time magazine picture with New York under ice. These people don’t know, they never could predict the weather in 12 years, Much less 20. It’s another money grab, all full of sh’t. There is no man made global warming. Climate is all about the sunspots and the elliptical orbit of the Earth around the sun.

I harvested some cedar for splitting for a canoe and immediatly notice how great the bark was and saved and processed it. I then tried looking up videos and could only find west coast people using their cedar bark. Nothing about eastern white bark.

Very nice work. I've made a few myself and do enjoy the work. Especially on a stormy winter day. I wish I could do it for a living but no one wants to pay 3 or 4 hundred for a pack basket or a hundred for a shopping basket. I think they're worth it but most think they can't afford it. I get it , it's a lot to spend on a container but it's an environment freindly container that can be used for multi-generations. I pick them up at flea markets now and then for $50 or $60 bucks for a useable pack that may be 75 years old! My first adirondack pack was an old one from the flea market. I hauled chaga and reishi mushrooms in it for two or three years before I made a new one. I did repair it and retired it for light duty. There is no plastic laundry basket that will still be useable in 75 years! Oh well , they make great gifts.
