Joe Sample and Michel Legrand medley on Nord Stage 4
Playing style of Joe Sample was so inspiring and recognizable that I thought it would be a good idea to try and play famous Legrand's "Windmills" tune in the same style in the same improvisation.... You decide....
P.S. White Grand piano sample on Nord Stage 4 sounds excellent IMHO.

Differences between Piano and Organ playing, Part 4

I was classically trained on the piano and it took me a while to get comfortable playing the organ. I am still learning and I thought I would help piano players to get basic techniques of playing organ. Okay, that Nord does sounds good. I never wanted to purchase one because of the price. Phenomenal Skillz!
Nice!
Sweet!
yeah !
Thanks
Another stunning performance...
Thanks!
Beautiful setup and you do it justice. Great songs very nicely executed!! Thx.
Thank you kindly!
As always superb playing, feel for the peace and execution in terms of interpretation. A huge admirer of both Legrand and Sample….
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Super !!
Many thanks!!
Azz veramente bravo, uno tra i migliori che si vede su RUclips, la batteria del korg Pa3 è favolosa 👋👋
Thanks!!
great!👍👏
Thank you! 😃
Nice ! ✌
Thanks ✌
Have you ever tried the Neo Ventilator (and if so how does the Lester K compare?). And on a side note, as a single keyboard to bring to a gig playing 75% Hammond, 25% piano/rhodes would you bring a Nord Electro or the Hammond SK-1? I was about to buy an Electro, but just found a new SK-1 for a great price (just over 1/2 the price of the Nord including a bag)
Definitely Electro if it is the only keyboard you want to carry. I can probably write the essay about why, but just trust me on this one..
@@VLStudioOne Thanks!
@@islandtony5009You are welcome.

ISSO e mais ora ser tocado em piano 😢
Very nice sounding and playing!
Huge Difference! Sounds really warm, got me sold :0) 😁 Real shame they don't have a jack input to control it with a half moon switch.
Agree, jack for remote would be nice. I had to mod it and make my own jack..
Both Leslie effects sound great to my ears, but in this comparison the Lester takes the cake imho. I’ve been a die hard Ventilator II user for a long time, and swear it’s the best. 😉 Question and maybe a dumb question- is this demo in stereo? Sometimes I find that the Leslie emulators sound “better” in Mono. After all the original Leslie was in mono, as I’m sure most of the keyboardists’ watching this video know. I think I’ll grab a Lester to compare against my Vent II pedal!
Hi, this demo is done in stereo. My Ventilator 2 is coming tomorrow, and I will do another comparison for you.
@ sounds great thank you!!
@@KyleWhitlock-Music Sure, thanks for watching!
The Lester K sounds very unnatural, compared to the Hammond SK-1 - which sounded very close to the real Leslie speaker I had. The lower rotating tone of the SK-1 seemed just a little slower than a real Leslie, but that's adjustable, right? I'm just now shopping for a Leslie Sim, so thanks a lot for helping me choose by doing this demo! Hammond SK-1 8/10 and Lester K 2/10.
I like how fast the Lester k speeds up, but i like how slow the internal slows down.
The Lester K simulates the different spin up times. The woofer rotor on a Leslie is slower and takes longer to spin up to speed whereas the treble rotor reaches speed faster. Lester K simulates that difference very well in my opinion.
Totally agree. Thanks for watching!!
Dude... you're killing it... Great stuff, thanks for sharing...sponsored by Nord?
I wish! Thanks for watching!
Yes, it's like night and day. The internal sim sounds very narrow, somehow "pale" and lifeless. The Lester adds width, warmth and some organic characteristic. I also use the Lester K for my Stage 4 as the default Leslie sim (and built a remote control for the Lester to keep it on the table).
Agreed!
@@VLStudioOne I bought the Lester G (designed for guitar, but much more robust than the K version). It has compression, slow and fast speeds, and acceleration modification. It also gives has an expression pedal jack. I can't decide between the native Leslie sym in my Hammond SKPro (which has lots of control settings you can tweak) and the Lester G. I do think that the Lester is much better in a stereo speaker setup. Thanks for the video. Look forward to more.
@@jeffreywahl4238 Jeffrey, thanks for watching! I actually modified my Lester K and added the pedal jack and I do like the K form factor as it sits on top of my keyboard during live shows. What I found out is that when running in Mono (like during the live shows) the most important is the actual Leslie tone which in Lester is much better than Nord and marginally better than Hammond SK.
@@VLStudioOne That's impressive! I could never work my way around a soldering iron. ;). I'm going to bring the Lester to my band's rehearsal and audition it versus the SKPro's internal. One good thing about the Hammond I have is that it has a dedicated Leslie 1/4" output so I can run only the organ sounds (and not the other goodies like pianos, strings, horns, and monosynth) through the Lester. Stay tuned.
@@jeffreywahl4238 All true! Nord Stage has this option too which is what I am using on gigs!
Seems the Lester K boosts the overall feel. I'm finding my XK4 can squeal a little in the higher register using the internal sim when fast. Food for thought Sio thanks for the demo.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
I love de Leslie Sound, I liked the first example better, but both are very well done.
It seems to me that both options have the right to life. Of course, SK1 sounds more «pure», without unnecessary harmonics and overtones. There are no questions about the acceleration of the regular Leslie, but the deceleration - the lower speaker slows down too quickly, thereby shifting the balance towards the high-frequency horn. Lester K is getting better with this. And acceleration and braking are just perfect, except for the slightly overestimated FAST frequency. The rotation of the low speaker can be heard much better, which emphasizes the work in Slow/Fast mode more.
Абсолютно согласен, спасибо за комментарий!
Thanks for the comparison - thinking of one of these for my Hammond XK4 - sounds much richer than the internal sim. Electro-Harmonix videos don't do it justice at all.
Great VID, if it’s possible can you compare it with the Hammond Solo M?
what song is this? you sound great!
This is famous tune called "Feelings". Old one too...

hey great stuff man - enjoy your videos - that is the combination I use with the Sk1 and Nord in lots of gigs I do - do you have the Hammond running thru anything in this video like you did in one with the Lester K ? - keep up the great work man

Not sure I understand, what is a Beatmachine you are referring to?
Caught you using a sustain pedal on the Sk1. Shame on you
Now why is that?
@VLStudioOne I know why, because you wanted to play those nice chords on the Rhodes sound without having to take your finger off the ski. Good move
Exactly!@@gregoryschleitwiler9601
