This rarely happens when sourcing at a Charity Shop
We timed the charity shop perfect and managed to support the charity shop and get ourself some hand picked items for our ebay store.

3 days to go Sarah before you can really go to town for Halloween 👻👻
Hi Alan, Sarahs not in the Halloween mood this year. We're in the middle of trying to sort storage out and got a lot going on. She's not even got her decorations up yet. Hope you didn't mind the shout out at the end. Take care - James & Sarah ❤
Drives me crazy seeing signs outside saying "We're full, no donations", then inside they have rails full to bursting but mens shirts priced at £35, jeans £25 for pretty run-of-the-mill stuff just because its branded. I barely even touch the clothing in most charity shops these days unless it's the odd bit for myself. Some of these managers are absolutely trippin. When your stock is free, let the spice flow!
Was so hoping for some shop viewing but Glad you managed to get something from the Visit
Phone was in my top shirt pocket mate, everytime I bent forward it was falling out as the fill-a-bag boxes were on the ground. 🤣
the miner is carrying a Davey lamp which gives out light and warns if there is gases about, some nice things in the pick ups
What I think I’ve figured out is hard goods sold best for me in summer and clothing has taken over in autumn. I stopped sourcing clothing for quite a while and just worked through what I had. Hard goods took off for me for a bit - but the time and packing materials needed just ate into my time. It’s such a hard balance.
Morning Jo, that's the issue with hard goods is the time spent on packing and sourcing void fill. We've continued with clothing but picking up the odd item that we think might sell that isn't clothing. We've recently sold board games, glasses, kids toys and we've started picking up hand bags, shoes and caps for a bit more variety. We've moved away from wholesale as well, and started hand picking more as wholesaler is a lottery and our stores got a lot of filler items. Hand picking I think will help now as the store up to 2900+ items so time to get better stock listed. Thanks for watching
@@TonksBoutique I went hard into hard goods and was please with the turnover of stock - but sourcing them has become harder. I Did auctions but that really dried up too. The bulk of my stock is still clothing - even though I actually hadn't sourced clothing for about 6 months. However, I'm on the south coast of England and it's pretty hard to source clothing at decent prices (one ocal charity shop charging £9 for a Hobbs dress type of pricing). It's pretty much £4.50 and up, no discount stores around here either for miles (I actually don't know any in this county actually!). I've actually been using Booms high street sacks. I wasn't impressed with the unbranded sack I go at all (even though I literally just sold a jumper for £70 a few minutes ago!) but high street ones are mostly ok, some better than others.

when are we going to see Sarah on the walkway showing off the dress`s 🤣🤣 are you diversifying your items that you pick up ??. some great pick ups 👍👍
I wish 1/2 the dresses fitted me Alan 🤣In this video this is what we found on one day of sourcing at a Salvation Army Donation Centre. We forgot to show some shorts and trousers as they were in the shed. Thanks for watching ❤
Yes Tonks!!!
Thanks for watching.
It’s funny you said about Meyer trousers - I have a pair in my store that I just cannot shift. I have no idea why!
We've sold Meyer trousers and shorts in the past. A customer even paid £40 for shorts to get sent to Australia. It's a brand I'd always pick up if we found cheap enough. Hopefully yours sell soon x Thanks for watching

Its a misconception that if an item has been priced incorrectly the retiler has to sell at the price this is not true . Some retailers will honour the price but it is not a legal requirement . Strange way to carry on in that shop though i must say .
I understand that but I don't get why they were being selective with some items and not with others when they had the same week numbers and prices on the labels. And telling us were lucky to be getting the items at 99p and they could of removed more. We don't buy from the shop anymore, we've been in twice recently and prices have changed a lot. Maybe because of this they now drop prices gradually rather than straight to 99p after 3 weeks. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great sales you 2 and congrats on getting to 500 subs 👍👍
499 you jinxed us 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting.
Listen to your missus James....lolol Wonderful sales, well done, great video.
Had a lot on recently, so struggling for content. But thought we'd try something different with this video. Thanks for watching hope your well Jeannie?

Yeah, we do 🤣 Both good thanks Shabba. Thanks for watching.
I imagined fleek was like this when I saw tonnes of RUclipsrs pushing them (no doubt recompensed in some way for doing so).
We tried to buy from 3 different sellers and each experience was unpleasant. Fleek has lots of sellers, there might be some good sellers there but our experience put us off buying from Fleek again. From the youtubers we spoke to I believe it was £250 credit in exchange to promote Fleek.
With all these bundles of clothing that need washed before selling, are you able to claim your washing machine as a business expense ? And with the poor summer we have had ( I live not that far away from you) when on earth do you get them dried ?
Yes, you can claim electricity, soap powder, stain remover as a business expense. Same with dry cleaning. We use our own washing line and the neighbours. And also dry clothes inside. Soon as it's decent we need to try get as much done as possible with washing clothes. Where are you from?
@@TonksBoutique Just outside Paisley. Must be a nightmare drying inside though in the winter. You've got a great week this week for outside drying. Glad I dont resell clothes though. I sell small items (tho I have 1000s of them) and they take up enough space !
@@Jamiedee123 I can imagine how much space 1000 items take up. We may venture soon back into non clothing items. We are going to list all our back log then reevaluate our business.
I wish sellers would put any snags or holes in the descriptions, Sarah are you thinking about going Blond as that hides the grey 🤣🤣
3 of the tops had holes in the end. We got a £9 refund from the seller. She's too pale to go blonde but maybe she needs a wig or 2 with all the stress I'm causing her Alan :-)
Watch out James , looks like Sarah is slowly getting you in front of house 🤣🤣 Nice sales and plenty more to come 👍👍
No chance of that happening. 🤣 I'm fully aware of her plan 🤣 I'm happy in the background working away. Thanks for watching and commenting Alan.
Hi, I wanted to ask a while back that you bought lots of sacks from BOOM Wholesale. I wanted to ask if you had sold it all and was it worth it, and did you get your money back/make a profit? I ask because I was contemplating buying in bulk also from boom. Happy sales.
@@Lee-vx5df I wouldn't recommend buying from wholesale online as its a lottery of what will turn up. The cost of goods is too high, it can end up costing you £6-7 an item or more and in the sack there will be shorts and t-shirts that hold not much resell value. These sorts of items are break even or even running at a loss which eats into your overall profit. And there is always the expect 10% damages with wholesale, we find with wholesale it can be anywhere from 10-40% damages. If your going to spend up and buy in bulk I'd highly recommend hand picking at a wholesaler or buying joblots from ebay were your protected with free returns if an item isn't as described. The clothing market is saturated and with ebays no fees for private sellers its getting harder to sell clothes on ebay. We have sold most of the boom items but some still remain. But it's not something I would do again as it was very hit/miss and very time consuming with all the issues.
I'm thinking about a trip up over the border. Which area are you guys in? I'm thinking I might be able to talk you into putting the kettle on. 😉
@@ABLReselling Welcome anytime Dave. Shame you weren't at the Scottish reseller meetup. Were in Lanarkshire.

OMG we got a shout out! Thanks both for all of your advice- we had a look at the sold prices, dropped what we were asking and the sales are picking up nicely 😊 still have more UPS / Fed Ed boxes than stock to fill them with, but that’ll come! Thanks for making the eBay thing look fun (it is)- it was one of your videos that made us take the plunge last month and haven’t looked back since! Paul & Michelle
Our pleasure! Hope your sales are still growing. We haven't done a video for a while due to listing lots of clothes. But a new video out today :-)And questions or help needed, drop us a message anytime.
@@TonksBoutique Phew! We were starting to worry about the lack of posts :0) yep, still growing! (Thank-you again for the support)
do you buy the boom high street stuff we find it pretty good no washing its good to go all grade A and with their recent 45% off each piece was between £1.25 (lower end high st) to about £2.35 (higher end) and a lot are new with tags good profit in them we find
Hi, right now we are getting most of our items for 80p-£1.10 or there abouts for low and higher end brands. We haven't tried Boom high street. That's good your getting new and tagged and getting good profit from the items. We've kind of gave up with wholesale right now due to several bad experiences. Thanks for watching and commenting. Are you going to buy again from Boom highstreet? If so, let us know how you get on.
@@TonksBoutique yes but will wait until its on sale again yes quite a bit of new with tags theres actually only a few bits that look second hand they are either new with tags or seem to be new without tags stuff like pretty little thing hobbs m&s lyle and scott and zara some of the tags say up to £49.99 and even if you only get £10 per piece with approx 40 pieces thats good profit the lower end sacks cost £43 with the discount
and just to add we also had a very bad experience with boom branded sacks we like you bought about 12 to avoid del charge bad mistake
@@saradoherty3875 Maybe they rush big orders? I spoke to a few people recently who just bought one sack and they feedback was 50/50.
@@saradoherty3875 They seem to be doing a lot of offers recently, so they might do another high street sack soon. Let us know how you get on with the next order of the high street sacks.
So basically, like me you've given up being an only clothing seller! No shame there. I've honestly now stopped sourcing clothing. I'm just working through the clothing stock I have - but mostly now just left with autumn and winter stock to list. I saw the writing on the wall with both no fees for private sellers and Vinted too and I'm getting out of the game and moving into collectable & vintage homeware niche. I barely use charity shops anymore - there is literally one I source from now. I do find that charity shops are not always as high for bric a brac as they are for clothing. I'm now sourcing from auction every 4 weeks. The volume I can get and the value of items is amazing - and my local is not a cheap auction house but the stuff I get my hands on is amazing. The other thing iI've found from sourcing hard goods is the sell through rate is rapid compared to clothing.
We've not given up with clothes. We've just been accepted onto the pre-loved partner program which is meant to increase sales. Ebay said 2-3 weeks before we're added and it's been 4 and we've not been added yet. That's meant to give a boost in visibility. We'll see how that goes but because of the private sellers and no fees we thought it best we pick up other items to resell. We've got 2600 items of clothes listed and we have a lot of unlisted clothes. Once we max out the sheds we will get a container and then look at mixing clothes with other items such as toys, collectables and other items.
@@TonksBoutique sorry, I didn’t mean you’ve given up entirely - I worded that badly 😅but yeah, I think a mix right now for me is safe. It’s a bit of a test really. I’m only sourcing hard goods right now and I’m curious to see whether this increases sales or not. They take up more real estate as it were but they turn over faster. My sales are a mix right now. No one thing is bring me more profit than the other.it’s hard to judge. However, selling hard goods only is limiting in terms of platforms to sell on. It’s a real pickle!
@@ThisisJo 100% it's a test right now. We'll still keep going with clothes but if needs be we're happy to change back to an everything reseller. We'll have a better idea once we get all the clothes listed and get a container to experiment more with mixing clothes with other items. Thanks for watching.
@@TonksBoutique good luck!! Will be interested to see if the preloved partner thing does in fact help - when they actually register you of course!!!
Looks like a rake on that tie to me.
Yeah, my thoughts exactly it's a rake 👍👍👍
Nice to see you so happy even though the sales are down.. any news on the bi-cep front James ?
I ripped the tendon in my shoulder and made a hole in the middle of my bicep, they think minimum of 3 months to heal, but could take a long time. Maybe a year. But it's been roughly 5 weeks and its slowly on the mend. Cant use my walking stick which is causing me leg pain but hoping in another 2 months I can get back to normal. How are you Alan? Thanks for watching and commenting.
thank you so much for this video, recently got one off my grandparents and found the drive belt had turned to a thick sticky liquid, glad i was able to fix it up and enjoy using it.
Glad it helped. Very easy to fix when you know how. Well done in getting it working.
As a fellow scottish ebay reseller your channel is so inspiring, please remind me again how you guys get your items so cheap?

Yes was going to say I went to the one in drumchapel and was disappointed clothes weren’t 99p even though they still have the signs up
Hi, was there no big red stickers on the clothing labels saying 99p?
@@TonksBoutique no they said they don’t sell clothes at 99p anymore and need to change the signs
@@retrorewiindtv Strange, I wonder if they are moving from a discount store to a boutique or maybe changing how they price items now....
@@TonksBoutique When i pointed to the sign saying clothing starts from 99p they said that they have been up since the store opened 5 years ago and that they will be getting taken down. I said it’s misleading lol. Clothes started from £3
You're right it's very misleading. Even my favourite CHS charity shop in Wishaw the pricing has changed a lot (my last visit was about 1-2 weeks ago). They used to drop items to 99p after several weeks (we bought 99p items in March). Now they are dropping gradually and changing week numbers. It's the first time ever we didn't even spend £1 in the shop when usually we spend its 50, 60, 80, 100. I need to visit other CHS I think soon to see what ones are doing 99p clothes.
Sometimes Boxes can be fun , great Price tho
Yeah mystery boxes can be fun. Thanks for watching mate.
Well that was an interesting video and sometimes you need to pass on information on as you both are out for bargains and the games looks so much but when you said about the candle holders i was thinking they were lot bigger but there small. lol the TF jumper is nice shame i wont fit me.
The candles were free from our St Andrews loyalty card, hoping to get £25-30 for them. We wouldn't of known about the church sale if it wasn't for you so Thank You. I will go back again, but not sure when. Thanks for watching 👍
Love the vid glad you selling some stuff
Us too! Thanks for watching Glenn. Hope your selling lots x
Intresting you mentioned CM Retro.. I bought their hoodie bundle aswell it was terrible. However, I also bought a dickies bundle that was perfect and i made over 400 on.
That's funny as they told me I was the only one having problems with their hoodies 🤣 They gave me a reason that now looks like an excuse "sorry, we've sent you the carboot sale 50p items" So I bought more hoodies on the promise the manager himself would pick and pack them and what arrived was just as bad or worse. He wanted us to join the 2 orders together and try make 1 order. When I make a new order its a brand new transaction. So he wanted me to join the 50p carboot sale items with the latest order to try complete an order. Joke!! I was refunded in full for both orders and told I was committing fraud. I said to him, pay for the return shipping and you can have them all back but he refused and told me to pay for the shipping. I would never shop with them again, horrible attitude and there Grade A/B with washable stains were more like Grade Bin. Holes, paint stains, rips, oil, heavily bobbled, etc... Thanks for commenting and watching
@@TonksBoutique Yeah, Think thats just an excuse they've spun unfortuantley. Got my bundle last september and just trying to scrape money from the stuff, made about 80 profit which is terrible
£80 is shocking as there is a lot of work to get the hoodie fit for resell. Did you not contact them about the issue? Wondering if you did, what the resolution was?
@@TonksBoutique I should of in hindsight but I didn't, maybe im part of the problem
