BEST Opening Process For Above Ground Pools | Intex, Coleman, Bestway Pools
Process & Steps In Order:
-Water was over 60° two weeks ago. Once water temp is above 60° the water is primed for algae growth.
-Drained remaining water/debris from cover via a 25' pool hose with a siphon I created using a wet vac.
-Removed cover
-Siphoned out debris from pool floor
-Cleaned out pump/filter/skimmer
-Checked and cleaned gaskets, o-rings, leaf trap cover and nut
-Checked hoses for leaks
-Got the pump running and immediately added liquid chlorine. This is key to keeping water sanitary to circumvent algae growth upon opening.
-Will be testing and balancing total alkalinity, pH, and CYA over the course of the week (in that order)
-Maintaining chlorine and all levels from there on out. -...

I recently purchased a commercial-grade RedMax BCZ260TS to tackle the jungle (backyard) of my newly purchased home. Watch this badboy go to WORK!!! Taking down weeds 3ft tall, beanstalks, you...

    Great video. Highly suggest a skimmer upgrade. I could never get my over wall skimmer to work. Close off both outlet ports and install a real skimmer. Changed my life with maintenance.

      @pmann46 12 дней назад

      Appreciate it! I considered upgrading to a Hayward skimmer the last few years. I just don't want to do it 😆 Though when we eventually upgrade to a deeper soft sided pool I'll likely upgrade the skimmer as well. There's some water depth loss with that upgrade, though it is more functional and will yield less maintenance as you said. We have little issues with the over the wall skimmer, it pulls debris from around the entire ring. No issues mounting either. The key for us has been keeping the water level as high as we can.

    My lid is super stuck how can i loosen it?

    • @pmann46
      @pmann46 6 месяцев назад

      First try running some super cold water over, around, and underneath the lid. Most materials (including plastics) will contract when they are cooled. Then, get a pair of multi-purpose grippers off Amazon. You know, the grippers you would use in your kitchen for a stuck jar lid...perhaps you already have some. Get two of those for both hands, hold the basket steady and twist counterclockwise with all your might. Let me know how it goes!

    • @pmann46
      @pmann46 6 месяцев назад

      if you do get it off, make sure you thoroughly clean the lid, gasket, and inside of the threads on the basket. The reason its likely stuck is due to debris build up in there, making it difficult to loosen.

    Not bad but if you have the brush vacuum head that goes on the extension pole, no need for a weight. I connect the hose to the brush head and put it in the middle of the cover with the hose connected to it. Create the vacuum and the cover is cleared off in a matter of minutes. 11 years with the pool now and you learn a little each year. I actually pull all the leaves up the sides before I drain it. Full flow until cover is nearly cleared

    Have you ever had issue with a vinyl pool being damaged by draining it an not putting it away for the winter? I want to do that with our new pool but heard some say it would ruin it? Thanks

    • @pmann46
      @pmann46 9 месяцев назад

      We don't drain it. We leave it up and keep it full throughout the winter. I'm in NJ and I've kept it up through cold weather and snow. The amount of work to pull the entire pool down is just too much IMO. You're left having to relevel and start from scratch come spring, not to mention the costs of filling the pool again.

    I just assembled mine today my air will not work it’s self out and it’s leaking from underneath the basket I can’t figure it out. Do you have any tips on what is causing this?

    • @pmann46
      @pmann46 10 месяцев назад

      Air is coming in from somewhere, likely where the leak is. There should be gaskets on every hose connect that go to and from your pump and filter. Definitely start there. Though, it sounds like the hose that goes into your basket could be the culprit.

    • @mommas1351
      @mommas1351 10 месяцев назад

      @@pmann46 I was looking at it more last night it’s leaking from the part where the basket connects to the pump. Where all the screws are. I have tightened all the screws.

    • @pmann46
      @pmann46 10 месяцев назад

      @@mommas1351 that's unfortunate and doesn't happen often. But if that's the case, you will need to disassemble it and make sure the o-ring there is intact as well. Here is a link to a diagram of the pump and filter along with part numbers if you need to order a new o-ring: intexcorp.com/replacement-parts/krystal-clear-filtration-sanitation/sand-filter-pumps/2800-gph/2023/26647eg/
