Unreleased 'Onoto Scholar' Unboxing - First Impressions!
Very rough and rambly first impressions of Onotos new (un released at the time) 'Onoto scholar' Some details about this pen may change with time as its still not out at the moment! But Id thought id share an early sneak peak into a pen I think will take the market by storm as a high quality entry into a grail status brand. Id like to thank feng at onoto for getting this pen to me so quickly! Top teir customer service as always.
Overall Thoughts - This pen is a fantastic entry to onoto as a brand. The quality of the packaging, the threads, overall fit and finish of the trim and attention to detail are all amazing. The real stand out here is that nib, it really is something special for a st...

Creating art with fountain pen ink!- (My 3 ink technique)
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.4 года назад
This is a light breakdown of the process I use to create my original artwork as seen on my @ukasabii Instagram account! I sketch 95% of the time with fountain pen and ink, and do so on a daily basis. I also do more refined fountain pen art in a more painterly style, which I refine and digitise in photoshop CC. In this video I outline the rough process of my artwork from a pen and ink perspectiv...

Loved the ink color and especially watching you sketch and talk about your methods. Beautiful work. I paint with watercolor, and it never occurred to me that a non-waterproof ink could be used to such great effect...could have something to do with being a beginner! Love the inspiration Thank you!

One thing I've learned after fifty years of doing graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, and pen and ink is that very often a quick sketch is better than a slow finished drawing, at least where the art aspect is concerned. I don't buy pens from China, so I use the Oilot Metropolitan as my main pen and ink fountain pen. I keep eight inked up. Each pen is a different color, and I match the color of the pen with the color of the ink family. It just speeds things up when I'm sketching. I actually prefer using dip pens for pen and ink art, but I love fountain pens, as well. I know several artists who love a fude nib, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. My dip pens will do anything, but for fountain pen art I guess I'll just have to do without a fude. Anyway, very interesting video. You have more than your share of talent.

Great review and photography. Thanks. The Montegrapa nib design is exquisite. I've just got a bottle of this now discontinued ink. It is such a lovely ink. It performs well and gives me shading even from a wet Western Medium nib. (Diplomat). It sits just to the blue side when compared with Diamine Imperial Purple, my goto purple ink. I shall use this quite a bit for my scribbles and notes. Be well and again, thank you. :)

I finally took the inky plunge on this. I joined the fountain pen hobby too late to be able to experience Lamy Dark Lilac, so I was interested to see this one mentioned as a possible alternative. I have most of the standard line of MB inks plus Petrol Blue, which is wonderful. Despite amassing such a collection I don't actually use my MB inks all that often. I think I may try to overturn that and start putting them through their paces to a greater degree. In the main, I love the presentation and the "shoe" style bottles, but the actual typical ink within them doesn't exactly set my world on fire. They're good, competent, safe and rather soulless. Beatles and Petrol Blue are notable exceptions for me. An honourable mention to Irish Green perhaps.

Great review! Thank you for making that. As a fellow designer who plans on buying it, I also found it hard to find any written or video reviews on it! Great sketches, too! I need to see if you have more reviews. It’s nice to hear what designers think about nice writing tools as sketch tools. Most videos, naturally, come from a writer’s perspective. I collect and use all kinds of pens and pencils, and their primary function is always to sketch! -Bryce

That pouch with the wax seal is really cool, but I think it would be more useful if they included an individual leather pouch to carry the pencil in, so it won't get scratched. A nice pencil like this I wouldn't want to put it in a pencil case with other writing tools that have abrasive components like knurled grips

It's the worst ink Montblanc has ever made, and a complete waste of money. It looks, acts, and behaves EXACTLY like at least a dozen far, far cheaper purple inks. I haven't found a single person who could pick it out of a lineup. You can't possibly know much about ink to think this is one of the better Montblanc SE inks. Granted, not many people do know much beyond color and aesthetics, but this is a ridiculously poor ink for the kind of money they want. You'd get a better ink by letting your child melt crayons. Montblanc makes some very good SE inks, but this is NOT one of them. This ink is so cheaply made it's unreal, which is sad. The only thing that makes Montblanc SE inks worth the price is the formulation and the special additives. This ink fails completely on both counts. You're essentially buying ink made exactly like Waterman ink, but paying Montblanc prices for it.

Eh not sure I agree with that one entirley, if you like the name, colour and performance its not a waste of money at all. Get where your coming from, far better value for money with diamine etc, but that applies to montblanc pens as well. Could argue you find way more value in a twsbi or a lamy to a montblanc. All just tastes and preferences as is anything else. Im pretty famiiar with my inks including montblanc inks as well. Over 80 bottles in my collection
