Except the sit , I prefer sitting in the back because my cousin time ago was sitting on front and 2 criminal jump inside the taxi sitting in the back and took all his money shoes and cell phone. VS Colombian numbers: In 2023 around 25.7 cases per every 100,000 inhabitants, which translates to around 13,500 people losing their lives. In general Americans abroad are pretty much safer anywhere than at home by ten fold than staying at home in the US. Traveling from another (third) country the safety in Colomia is very high, while the US in general has far higher risk potential and in a global scale the highest numbers in terms of violent death.

I'm 18 and want to solo travel to Cartagena, I'll only stay in the city but wanted to know if it's safe. I'm a US Citizen and will go to Colombia in November.

Great video but you can't really compare such different places for value as HK is hyper expensive in terms of property per sq2 whereas other place in the desert where property is cheap! Better to split the videos into 2 seperate ones dealing with each place/country. Still a channel though - you desert 100k+ subs easily with your style/originality of content.

The cup of hot water can be drunk if you want - it's just hot / boiled water - nothing unusual about it. Some people choose it to rinse their cutlery / bowls, using it not because it isn't clean already but because in some places when they've washed the dishes, the dishes can still have some *some* residue/soapy taste of washing up liquid/detergent still on them. It's a carry over from when places had to wash 100 plates/cutlery etc all at once and dunked them a big soapy container etc. But that's increasingly rare these days as most places will water rinse everything afterwards - just depends on the place.

I would actually suggest you sit behind the taxi driver. It is more difficult for him to hold you at gunpoint. I would say that Peru is not more dangerous than any other south American or Asian country for that matter

I am going to Cucuta next year for the first time. I lived in Venezuela for 10 years though. Whenever, I was confrunted being alone, drunk at night, I would go straight up to them asking if the wanted anything in an aggressive manner in my barrio spanish, and they would run.
