In my opinion it would make more sense if instead of not working at all, stare was just ineffective. (So Punisher would still feel it, but ultimately endure the effect) And not due to him not regretting what he's done, but due to him steeling his soul and willing to go through both literal and figurative hell to get his justice done.

Was a partly fun and dumb gun debate in a comic done fun. A Superman doesn't see what's wrong with taking people's guns away, because there are too few people stronger than him. He can't even be there to stop all the violent crimes. Taking away guns means might makes right again. The boyfriend makes the rules and the woman just takes it. The woman might be lucky and get away only to get found out by the boyfriend again. And this isn't just a dynamic between sexes but anyone strong vs anyone weak or anyone alone vs 2 men or a mob. Guns are a tool that also works as an equalizer.

This isn't how the Penance Stare works. It doesn't matter if you feel regret or not normally. There are lots of people who are literally unable to feel regret or remorse, but they wouldn't be immune because the stare is supernatural.

I dont think you guys know what penance is. It's not at all about whether you regret it or not, its about whether or not you've hurt innocents or people that don't deserve it. The punisher punishes the guilty. He has nothing to repent for. It's not about some psychological trick of whether he personally feels remorseful or not for it.

I think the stare might only make you feel the pain of innocents. Or at least I'm sure his abilities had something to do with innocent blood being spilt. I don't think the people Punisher kills count as innocent, while someone like Galactus has devoured billions of innocent lives. Just because the Punisher says he regrets nothing doesn't mean he suddenly knows how Ghost Riders powers work either.

Reason I don't read antihero books, evil exists logically. No matter his feelings on the matter the stare would work. Literally changing established lore for the antihero to seem better than he actually is. Did the same shit with moon knight.

Superman can only manage to watch metropolis that is why he needs the justice league. And he can only expend his time in big stuff like fighting a volcano. So I imagine him floating in space using his super hearing to decide what to do and every time he do something he is probably ignoring the rapists and murderers of the world. in the real world only criminals would have guns. it doesn't work for a hand full of reasons, first you need to have regret and a soul second its not just about regret the stare is based off the fact that you commit evil knowingly and don't care, it forces you to experience that suffering and pain your self as a form of repentance so yea, its base off of the voluntary self-punishment inflicted as an outward expression of repentance for having done wrong. mimicking the catholic church and has been explained multiply times you don't need to care but sin and sin knowingly without care, the punisher does not sin as he only hurts sinners and has conviction of knowing behind his actions.

whats funny, Is I know a similar story in real life. I’ll tell you what I think. I think; the punisher surviving Ghost Rider’s penance stare, should have nothing to do with regrets, but that Frank Castle is justified in his actions. That’s because Frank Castle/The Punisher is not that different from Ghost Rider since both go after evil. I’m surprised the spirit of vengeance didn’t make the punisher his new host when Johnny blaze was freed, would of been an interesting story, or a What If…?

The one flaw in the injustice story is no one tried to stop superman enough(imo) the entire league could have jumped, wonder woman was always wrong and plastic man bailed.
