To intermediate? How niave. I’m sorry to say that that is complete rubbish, be careful as your arrogance will get you drowned. This attitude of yours and others is ruining the line up. You probably don’t know what a line up is.

My parents taught me to surf when I was 2 years old so I never had to go through this struggle. I cannot imagine how overwhelmingly difficult it must be to learn how to surf as an adult. You use so many muscles you've never even used before and you have to think about so many things, where to put your feet, where to lye on your board, where your going and of course staying balanced. Keep with it girl your doing so well!

I have dreamed all my life to learn. Did 1 lesson where I was pushed onto wave by instructor, thought it wasnt that hard.. until I try again on my own lolll... never managed to catch a wave myself 😅 that shit is hard

This is thw best video. I moved down the coast recently and still dont get invited into the water lol it suck. I used to bodyboard. Im starting to get in shape again late thirties so takes a while lol time to get out there and have a go :)

Surfing was a struggle for me, too. I was a competitive skier and am an experienced snowboarder. Surfing's much harder to learn. Experienced surfers gave me the following advice. Using this video, here are some suggestions for beginners: Wave count is the key to learning. If you only catch a few waves each day, you'll never get anywhere. Stay in the whitewater until you're ready for green waves. Don't worry about progressing; you'll improve eventually. Volume in your surfboards is essential to catching waves! More volume=higher wave count=skills development. Most surfers are on boards that are beyond their skill level. 1:39 Don't start on a Wavestorm. The board isn't wide enough. Rent a much wider teaching board for a week. Wavestorm is 9' L x 24" W x 3.5" T / 102 L. Storm Blade 9FT SSR MAXX is 9' L x 29" W x 4.4" T / 145 L. The difference is profound. 1:50 Get more surf lessons. Once weekly is sufficient, twice weekly is ideal. 2:31 When you progress to a Wavestorm, use surf wax on the board. Apply liberally! 2:35 Stay in the whitewater and practice your pop up for your first week or two. Muscle memory is the goal. 4:54 If catching a really big green wave is still beyond your skill, catch heaps of small green waves. Wave count! 6:14 Getting an instructor is a terrific decision. 13:40 I use Shiseido Sun Stick. The tint helps block the sun. Also, surf at sunrise. 16:00 Of course surfing is going to be harder than those things. I mean, come on. 19:15 Have a good time all the time. 19:56 Time doesn't determine skills development. It totally depends on your wave count and your attitude.

Been skating boarding for 10 months and i feel the same way " Battleing to survive, and not having fun " I am such a super beginner , and surfing caught my attention because of the swiimkng aspect ( i can't swim ) and the beach life ( never seen a beach ) and just the environment and wantiing to feel and enjoy nature ...Watching others experience ,has me happy for them, but i am still in a dark place .

Surf lessons except for the high end ones where they film and everything are a waste of time. A quick google search would have helped you with your initial nose diving problem. Just angle your takeoff. Easier said than done for newbies but that’s the key.

been out like 10 x, not 1 wave caught.

its true surfing is an extremely long process. I started on a foamie and in 6 months I was already on a shortboard. Which was pretty quick for me, but I couldn't of done it without my dad who has been surfing for 40+ years. I'm now over a year into my surfing progression and I'm still getting better every week.

That is not an intermediate level. Even not a pre-intermediate. Just check how intermediate surfers surf and you will get what I mean. You are still a beginner, but not a total "0"
