Starting with the 1K Gritomatic stone, a medium-coarse grit ideal for shaping the edge and removing minor imperfections. Hold the knife at a 15-20° angle and move it across the stone in a controlled, sweeping motion while maintaining even pressure. Alternate sides and continue sharpening until the edge is well-formed. Keep the stone wet throughout the process for smooth sharpening. Next, refine...

While inspecting my nasu bunka, I noticed some rust spots along the edge. This bunka features carbon steel with cladding. A friend refurbished it, making the blade extremely thin and delightful to use. The stones used in this session are Shapton Kuramaku 2k and 8k..strop 4 microns and 1-micron Gunny juice.

Hi abang, just curious, do you use straight razor?
Hi Alex, i dont use straight razor..thanks for commenting
Hey how is this sic 120 stone?
Do you live in Denmark?
@@andreasjonsson8075 i live in Sarawak, Malaysia
@zulukiloedgewerx Aha. I were just asking because you use a Danish Ö. Ø
You are doing a secondary bevel with that angle.
I like how you did the newspaper all the way to the tip! Great video my man
Thank you and glad that you like it..
Hi, can i ask how you removed rhe base form this King Neo 800? I really want to get this stone but i do not like the base
Sure..using a scrapper and hacksaw blade..just slowly work it to detach the base from the stone..
@zulukiloedgewerx thanks mate much appreciated. I've ordered one and will try next week. Did you heat up the glue with a heat gun or hair dryer?
@@sryslyuguys no heating involved..just need to wiggle the scrapper in between the base and Whetstone..once you got the scrapper in..then it easy
Hehe, im going to do this tomorrow.
Cool to see a new video!! Is that knife any good? Last time I saw one, it was just about as much as the entry-level Spyderco kitchen knives. That was a few years ago though, so the Spydercos are probably twice the price now.
Well it get the job done😃..it can be sharpened to a fine edge and it is better than the stainless steel stamped knife.. Thanks for dropping a comment👍.appreciate it man
I have their 240, 1k, and 2.5k. Excellent sic stones as recommended by JJ. Trying to get their 600 and 400 for over a year now. These stones are so underrated. Very hard to get anything from Russia these days. Thanks for your presentation.
Exactly..I love using this stone..thanks for dropping some comments and glad you like the vids

One of the best knife design of all time
You’re wearing a blouse and sharpening in the dead center of the stone….come on man be better, 😢
it's bent, not chipped, so it's some soft stainless, probably x55. short primary grind, tall bevel that knife looks like a terrible user with such geometry, no wonder they used it as a prybar.
Thanks for the comment..yeah i would suggest that to the client later..😊
People think being a "professional knife sharpener" basically means getting to play with expensive folders, but really it just means doing this all day long
😂you got that right
Nice work, hope you're doing well!
Hey Don, I hope you're doing well, my friend. Sending positive thoughts your way.
@@zulukiloedgewerx Had some health issues pop up but doing better, thank you. 🙂
My Combo is King 300, King 800 Deluxe, Suehiro Ouka 3k, and finish on Rozsutec Natural Stone - about 7k finish
Nice..thanks for dropping comment..would like to try venture with natural stones someday
@zulukiloedgewerx keep your eyes open there are some cheap ones out there.
@@MrRourk thank you for the head up🙏
Pisau buat pakai k110 memang susah nk asah ke, memang kene pakai diamond stone ke
tak semestinya pakai diamond stone..silicon carbide dgn aluminium oxide stone pun boleh as shown here in my vids ruclips.net/video/ANZLT1F-irI/видео.htmlsi=7aVTyCypi40t8NmA ..k110 dgn d2 is a joy to sharpen..it takes quite a keen aggressive edge
What s the best soaking time for this one?
A good 5 to 10 minutes
Wish I could microscope image of the scratch patterns on your knife on the 1000.
Outdoors55 has that
Thanks for dropping comment on the vids..sadl i dont own any good microscope
You are asking to sink a blade into your thumb of finger holding stones like that. Need to get a small stone holder/base
You got a point there..thanks for dropping a comment and view the vids..i dont suggest this method of sharpening unless they are well trained and practice enough doing this..as for me, this is how i sharpen for years before i got the proper sharpening stone and stone holder..thanks mate
Have both of the knives shown in the beginning and they’re both great. The k390 Endura is a blade that you almost can’t argue with. Great geometry, comfortable ergonomics, lightweight, one of the best user steels ever to be released on a production model. Unless the aesthetic bums you out, it’s a near perfect large slicer.
Thank for dropping some word and view the vids..The aesthetic will eventually got better after couple of sharpening..used to bug me , but knowing it will get better after several sharpening i learn to accept it😅
beli di mana en Zul?
beli apa tu? kalau batu asah shapton tu boleh cari kat shopee..terima kasih kerana menonton
@@zulukiloedgewerx maklum, terima kasih encik Zul
Had my opinel for about 8 years, and its honestly my favorite knife. It is super easy to sharpen, and light in the pocket. Sweet video btw 🤌
thanks for viewing and dropping some words.. appreciate it
My favorite knife company
I use Victorinox Pocket sharpener Made in Germany... And need 30 seconds 😎
Japanese do make best guality stones and knifes!! In the world!!!! Steel is best what money can buy and stones is best as well!!!👍👌☺️✌️🌅
I have this king deluxe sones 800,1000,1200 and what can say this stones are very good stones!! Hardness is so good you dont need straithnent all to time when you sharps kniges! Best guality little money!!
I ll be doing some spyderco maxamet soon…or later 😂. They say it lasts a while .
I like 17 degree as well 👍. Soemtimes 15 .
You’re right . Learning to sharpen is a good skill . I never got an edge so well done as a fixed angle sharpener and really enjoy laying back some bevels .
Thanks for viewing and sharing
How do you feel about the heat treat on this? Eveything sharpened good? Wanting to order this knife but ive hear bad things about the heat treat on 20cv with we
Everything sharpened good..as with all the m390, 20cv and 204p..production wise, they can never nailed it to exact hrc..unless it is a custom..
Did you notice any difference in edge retention in m390 when you use aluminum oxide stones like shapton vs the diamond stones like venev?
Didnt notice much difference in edge retention( normal usage)..both alox and Venev..it is because the steel doesn't have that much vanadium carbide in it..if the steel is at high hardness probably using diamond is suitable as to not challenge the apex formation
@@zulukiloedgewerx thanks for the feedback
@@alextan2465thank for looking and dropping comments..appreciate it very much
Wat did you use on the stone?
Just tap water and lil bit of dishsoap
How about a skinning knife sir? After a 800 grit I will finish it to 6000 then 10000 sir? Its that ok?
I am using skinning knife and boning knife
Honestly, im not an expert on skinning , but i just figure it is too polished to cut animal hide iif you finish on 10k stone..even 6k is considered polish..800 is just nice ..i maybe wrong..you can experiment it yrself and see what fit your usage..
The average knife collector has no idea what a sharp or thin edge even is. A guy i watch on here (mostly for comedic value) made a video yesterday going on for 5 minutes about how microtech's absurdly named "m390MK" is an amazing steel because the factory edge was so good. He made 3 cuts in heavy card stock as his example of how great the edge was. Most of his videos are so uninformed, they almost come off as satire/parody, but this one was even more hilarious than usual. Edit: the video im talking about: ruclips.net/video/zcU2Qkr8cik/видео.htmlsi=n5f8xBnRiFFzqfa4
I saw this vid bro..some reviewers doesn't sharpened knives, limited access to what sharp really means..thanks for dropping comment

Di mana jual ne Spyderco kat Malaysia?
Boleh cari dkat thomas tool, gearevo and core republic..
Off the various diamond plate, assume at the same grit which would you recommend? Atoma, DMT diasharp, Ultrasharp, sharpal, Spyderco CBN?
Thank you for the comment and feedback. For my preferences at the same grit (for diamonds in descending order) I go with Atoma, Ultrasharp and Sharpal & DMT Spyderco CBN stands on its own just because the finish it leaves is finer than the diamond. Diamond cut deeper than CBN.. in terms of speed it is the same for both.
Beautiful edge
Thank you! Cheers!
Michael Christy's videos got me really into holding the stone in hand while sharpening. These are great for that. I dont really subscribe to the whole "pocket sharpener" concept, though. Sandpaper is perfect for that. I was away from home for a construction project, recently. The only real knife i brought with me was a custom in s90v at 63HRC. After 3 days of use, it got pretty dull but less than 2 minutes with some 320 grit ceramic sandpaper got it hair-popping sharp again and it ended up still being able to scrape shave when i finished the project 2 days later.
Yup Michael Christy @michaelchristy4982 was one of the great sharpener who uses the stone in hand technique..Michael (Mike) Emler of @CrazySharp also does an amazing job using stone in hand technique..I on the other hand really needed the small pocket stone due to the amount of grinding needed when I damaged my knife edges, weight and space limitations also play a role when traveling offshore for work.btw Thanks for dropping comments.. appreciate it very much

There's aftermarket springs available for it👌🏻
No way to replace the spring on a pin model?
What’s the name of the stone holder you’re using?
it is from the sharpal 156n diamond case and holder
