Ben Shapiro sucks
Hi Aime, I enjoyed your first video on Paris and now I am watching this one. I was wondering if you still live there post COVID? Do you still enjoy living there?
You’re inspiring!! Thank you!
12:19 no I feel like this was misunderstood by you a tad.... I think she was just trying to call out hypocrisy a bit. Like... If she was against animal oppression but then turned around and supported human oppression with her money, that wouldn't be consistent. So same if someone is again human oppression, it seems a bit inconsistent to continue support oppression via animal oppression. Not that everyone needs to be an activist for everything. We don't have time for every form of activism as busy adults. Lol.
7:43 yeah that was a really bad take on her part. 😬
5:39 I mean... She is right that hatred toward vegans is one of the last still-often socially acceptable forms of prejudicial behavior in this country (and much of the world). But I mean I definitely agree we aren't actually oppressed. We never were and we (hopefully) never will be!
Very practical discussion, especially about issues of not having a car. Also you get into the nitty gritty of your choices.
Glad to see you’re back!! ❤
😂😂just because you don’t understand words doesn’t mean they don’t have a meaning .
What word are you referring to?
@@aimemaggie I was referring to your intro. It’s a sarcastic remark,
Men feel unsafe. I typed this in and all it got was results of women feeling unsafe around men. Fucking sexist.
IDK if this is just me but one of the links led to like a virus.
Could you let me know which one? This video is super old so the websites might've changed.
Don't even let the haters bother you. Ben Shapiro stans get mad if the wind blows in a direction they don't like. Ben Shapiro just spews nonsense and continually talks over people because he is arrogant, racist, sexist, and a bigot. Explains why he supports Trump. He can't see past his own hate and arrogance in order to see actual facts and common sense.
You're right, the comments are more annoying than anything
Is there teaching English work for high school graduates that’s offered thru the government?
Hmm, I'm not sure but you can look for other opportunities that don't require a collage degree.
Any advice for American high schooler to get into French university?
I did not take that route so I recommend looking for youtube videos where they discuss their experience going to school in france.
This is exactly why men need to go their own way and leave women alone. If we make women feel unsafe, then we just need to stay completely away from them!
There is a big difference between walkability for tourists vs residents. In vegas If you are on the strip where the hotels are, It is very walkable, but for people who live in vegas, there is no housing by where the working and shopping is, it is all hotels. Here in the Pittsburgh Area, It is very walkable but highly disconnected. the mountains and rivers really make the neighborhoods separate from eachother. However if you just judge the downtowns based on google street view and how many people you saw walking, you would think Vegas is more walkable than Pittsburgh. In practical terms it isn't, but for tourists it may be
This is so true!
Heartbreaking
I know :(
Just a couple days ago, news came out regarding a heat wave of 52 degrees Celsius in India.
wow that sounds suffocating
We have the same name. Aimée is the girl version of spelling it and Aime is the boy version of spelling it.
hey name twin!!
Nice video. I really wish my city worked in a better public transport system.
I recommend looking for a local group that's advocating for this and helping them out
Love this video ❤❤❤
thank you!!
Lol I'm the opposite. Because of my severe executive dysfunction, I rarely buy anything, even when I need it. I keep telling myself 'dude go buy new clothes' etc but I never do it 😫
M This is actually quite sad, it creates depression, stress and boredom, how will people be sociable living so far away from others?
YOOOO I'm a budding professional working in Climate Action in the Twin Cities (as in policy, frameworks & plans, local government - I just finished co-authoring the Ramsey County Climate Equity Action Plan) and I'm in the MS-STEP program rn at the Humphrey. Glad you're moving away from general individual impact actions. Tbh, I think these Climate Action vs Climate Activism terms might be ambiguous/confusing for people, though your explanations certainly are good, clear and not confusing/ambiguous. I think I see why you're not using the Individual Responsibility and Systemic Change framing, because we have an individual responsibility to stand up, gather, advocate, volunteer, and to make Systemic Change happen like you said. I love all the things you said, though, good stuff. That said, for me, the Climate Action definition is different but I smell what yer steppin' in, sis. I also worked in electoral politics on Erika Bailey-Johnson's campaign, an Indigenous woman who was my mentor and the campus Sustainability Director, and I would add to voting: caucus! The party is there for the taking, they're old and tired and they WANT you to take the reins in so many cases (I'm talking local DFL level not DNC freakos). If all you do is vote, you're leaving so much on the table, but yes vote at least. Politics sucks and I hope to never work in it again though, so I get why someone doesn't want to give their time up for it. The most vulnerable people, who would deservedly benefit the most, often have the least means and time and awareness to do this kind of deep political engagement as well. We will get there, though. Keep doing what you're doing! Would love to connect but I have zero social media lmao.
Love this and I too have zero social media but I’d love to find you on LinkedIn! I moved from Colorado and Chicago to Racine, Wisconsin, and talk about people without means needing the most help! So much environmental racism here, from leaded pipes, a coal burning power plant right outside the city that has a miles-long train of coal going through the neighborhoods everyday, to actual Proud Boys in our city councils! It’s horrible and I just moved here. I don’t want to be accused of white savior, but all I care about is climate change and I feel so much motivation to help here because people are screwed, environmentally. I love what you said about the terms. I think about the difference between Climate Activism, Action, and Advocacy often. All are necessary because the earth can’t exactly speak for itself, so we have to defend it in any way we can. Keep up the awesome work! I hope someday I can have a job where I get paid to do work on climate change instead of doing unpaid Social Justice work on the side.
I feel „taking things from the street“ is underrated a lot. I got two boxes for my shelves second hand, but then missed one more. I saved that search on a second hand app, but there wasn‘t one I liked anywhere near. Then one day, I came across one box at someone‘s doorstep that was free 😊
Love your content!
Your makeup is beautiful!
I'd love to see a video on maybe collectivism vs individualism and then how that plays into sustainability, third places, loneliness, community and the possibilities for the future. I do really love seeing what you put out Aime. I think a mix is really smart, and I'm here to watch more interesting and unique takes regardless:)
I love your new hair color <3
You know the vintage furniture will last because it already has lasted a long time
I love your headboard
As someone also trying to declutter, buy smarter, not waste food, this was interesting. Appreciate your perspective. Thanks. :)
Thanks for the vid! I find intentional decluttering and donating to be a great foundation for being able to shop intentionally. It lets me see overall trends of what I like enough to keep, what gets used/what is enjoyable and conducive to a peaceful space, and what doesn't seem to have staying power in my space. I kept my laptop until it literally wouldn't turn on without the power cord 🤣 For wardrobe items, I took Leena Norms' suggestion to not buy any new (retail, off the rack, fast fashion) clothes this year- for me personally, thrifting is okay for needed items. It's great that my area has a handful of bougie goodwill spots. I miss piano! On fb etc. you can always find great condition keyboards. I'm too scared to have a traditional piano in an apartment space 😬 Sorry for the rambling comment, you have so many good points to reply to. Finding a rug on the side of the road? awesome. I once rescued an abandoned mattress from the elevator lobby of an old apartment building. Lysol sprayed it to hell and back but it was a significant upgrade from no mattress!
I love your energy! I'm so happy you get to experience this so young. So, with the teaching job, since it is part time, are you allowed to get another job working in France or no because you would need a different visa for that? Is this a contract/temporary job or your permanent job?
Your hair looks great! Love the matching earrings, too :)
thank you for your effort, I am quite new to the channel and like to listen to your perspectives. It seems fair to do both: try to ride the algo wave when you feel like it and then do niche theme videos which might be a lot of work with few clicks but I am 100% sure that most of those who watch appreciate them a lot! Most important is that you feel good with what you're doing! all the best
I think the reason why it’s only ever a couple topics is bc as creators we’re rewarded for talking about trending topics. Some people dive deeper in than others and use the current trend to talk about underlying social impact, but regardless. It’s an… unfortunate downside to this job
can totally relate! I've been struggling with this lately, noticing that my less trendy topics get way less views than something about the latest tiktok issue lmao. It sucks to feel stuck like this! the commentary / video essay sphere is so big now (and I'm so glad to see new creators and smaller creators getting attention!) but it's tough when it feels like we're all racing to cover the same topics as fast as possible. ** shakes fist at algorithm in the sky lmao **
Ooo would love to watch your video about shopping and consumerism replacing socializing . It’s so true!! But I feel like RUclips has been weird recently for creators, especially Black sustainability creators.
I prefer hearing your thoughts on what's going on currently. Even this video lol. You've got your pulse on the future, and I'm interested in your perspectives. You look awesome! Love the pink and the pink nose it's so cute I'm loving it. Life is too short and the world is too crazy to not just have fun and enjoy pretty things! lol. Watch the ants crawl by! Be late! I've learned so much from you sharing you experiences in France, in Minnesota, in your school, urban design, etc. I love everything you talk about! Politics, lifestyle, climate change, design, expectations, climate migration, the supreme court, greenwashing, the lack of press around the truth around these things, the "culture" of zero waste. Like you said, everyone makes "10 sustainable swaps" videos and zero waste type videos and it's a brand that is tired. It's so stupid and unnecessary in 2024. We know by now that it's not individual actions that will stop climate change so your content that talks about the bigger picture, systemic racism, classism, capitalism, waste disposal, infrastructure, you talk about the up-to-date stuff we all need to know. I used to feel so guilty not being fully vegan 24/7/365 but now I feel like hell I'm vegan probably like 5 days a week compared to most people who are for maybe a few meals, idk. 2024 I'm way more strict but it's so easy because I have my eye on the prize and I am tired of giving these crooks my money! I think that it's important to focus on the big picture, not something small like Stanley Cups. It was a moment but it was a blip that got way too much attention imo. I gave it zero of my attention, like you said. I didn't care to dedicate even watching a video on it to be honest. Much less to make a video. I don't need to be schooled in why fighting over expensive garbage is the stupidest thing to waste your time on in 2024. I'm so happy to see your face w your cute earrings and fun hair! It's important to enjoy the little things, enjoy the colors of the wind in our hair while we're on our bikes and saving the planet together! You're not alone and people like me who watch you know and agree about what's really important to talk about regarding climate change. So whatever you got, I'm with you.
Personally I love the unique videos you make. The one about why people should get into biking really inspired me (and I’ve been biking)! I cant wait to see what you come up with in the future <3
VERY few "win" at capitalism. That's its point. Create around subjects you love, not the herding algorithm's prompts. As for your hair, I think it'd been even cuter unstraightened, but that's me. I went natural years ago, and have been hair happy ever since. Whatever path you choose for vids and hair, BEST!
Hello!
Just a thought but some possible solutions: -More environmentally frendly Jets (Electric jets, not the most efficient yet but getting better with adadvancesn in battery technology , Hydrogenation powered jets) -There are jet share programs, Not perfect but would reduce empty flights. -Flying commercial like you said but obviously all the jet owners are not going to ditch their jets unless there is a big shift. This is Americarica so taking them away by force would be no pretty but offering more sustanable is a good start. Also glamerising more efiscalnt forms of flight would incorage more people to use them. A big reson I have seen for business people useing privet jets is saving them time witch I can hear arguments on both sides so more sustanambe fuel or jets sould like a good start to a compramise.
I think it's better to talk about real issues like Israell being a genocide committer !
Climate change is a real issue
yalls focus celebs over corporations is so weird to me. they're not even a percentage of the issue, i wish yall started focusing your energy on Shell or the state of Israel etc emissions
When an individual person is emissiting as much as Taylor does then I think it's fair to call it out. I also have other videos talking about corporations and systemic change. I believe both individual and systemic action are essential for combating climate change.
I think a piece to consider with a lot of celebrities, especially someone as big as Taylor, being in public places is a safety hazard a lot of the time, both to herself and everyone else.
I did point that out in the video and suggested that less travel could be a way they can reduce emissions. This was filmed before the super bowl so I didn't mention this but her flying from japan to Vegas to attend the super bowl is outrageous considering she would need to fly back to the same part of the globe in less than a week.
As Taylor having and using a private jet, 🛩️ she has a tight schedule and she can’t fly to every show she needs to just on commercial flights. People want to see her every where so she has to go to them. Maybe 🤔 she could get flights to every where but what does she do when it’s cancelled and she has to fly into LA or London or Tokyo or Sydney or Paris and she can’t get there because the flight ✈️ is canceled or any reason you can think of?
Being a pop star isn't a good enough reason to destroy the environment.
@@aimemaggie She’s not single handedly do that! Don’t put this all on one person’s shoulders! We’re all contributing. I personally don’t even own a car. So I helping on that issue. But I eat beef sometimes and I’m not a vegetarian. I tried it and I almost died! I had to hospitalized. Again we’re all contributing she’s just famous.
@@FoodNerds we are all contributing but it's nonsensical to not call out those that are contributing an outrageous amount of emissions.
Taylor wouldn't be traveling by herself but with an entourage, so of course people on the plane would know she was on the plane. You might be able to sneak her on plane, but what about when the plane landed? Don't you think the people on the plane with her would give her away via social media?
There have been stories of mega celebrities flying commercial with no issues. I also point out other options for celebrities to reduce their emissions.
@@aimemaggie name the celebrities
She's not even the top 30 of the emitters, she has bought more than double the carbon credits than required yet you all will go off on her, the one sided beef of y'all with taylor swift is actually concerning, never seen you talk about Beyonce's carbon emissions, i wonder why 🤔
I'm vegetarian but I do have tofu with her jet emissions. I can also make a video on Beyonce's emissions if you want. They're both capitalist queens.
@@aimemaggie You clearly don't know how carbon emissions and credits work, fun fact, less than 2 percent of total carbon emissions is due to jets/planes, but you know what contributes more than 30 percent to that? Fast fashion let's have a video about that? Also yes I'd love a video about not just Beyonce but every other person on that top 30 emissions list VERIFIED by FAA, thank you
@@abhinavupadhyay9389 fun fact, 2 percent of carbon emissions is still a lot of carbon emissions.
