Великобритания
Добавлен 4 июн 2020
Hello everyone! My name is Soraya. I am a mom of two beautiful children: my daughter Emma is 3 and my son Noah is 1. Becoming a mom is the craziest thing that has ever happened to me. It is both the most wonderful and the hardest job. It has made me grow in ways I could never have imagined. On this channel I want to talk about motherhood from a feminist perspective, have some open hearted discussions about real mommy struggles, but also rejoice in the beauty of this journey. Let's feel empowered, let's feel strong and beautiful, let's talk have the hard conversations, let's raise empowered children who will become fair, kind, balanced adults.

Love your Videos! Enriching!❤
Thank you, I needed this. I am dealing with a strong will 3yr old toddler and this morning was the hardest ever!! 😢 Your guidelines are short but clear. I wrote some notes down so I can start implementing them. Again thank you 🙏🏽
check out "How to Help Children Calm Down | Child Mind Institute", much less vague than this
Awesome! Thank you!
None of these work for me. I am in constant guilt-anger cycle.
Very informative thanks for this babies mental development strategy. God bless to you🙏
I really love your videos!! Thank you so much for helping 🤗❣️🙏🏻
Great info! ❤
The point that you make about patience is so true, and I find that it shows in adults. I used to work in insurance in Paris, with French management in my first job and Anglo-American in my second. I found the English less patient and the Americans even less patient. They expected to have everything that they asked for immediately, even if it wasn't particularly important. Their particular brand of impatience seems to be contagious, too. My (now ex-)partner was French but moved to Quebec after university. He worked in banking , including for a large US bank, and eventually started acting a little too much like his colleagues in New York for my liking!
my child is 6 years but struggling with learning. Any help? Thank you

Thank you. This was like therapy for me.
Hello from the USA. Your videos have been so insightful and so helpful! Thank you for sharing.
It works everytime.... With your child. As a kindergarten teacher of 8years and have been doing exactly this all the time with hundreds of children, it does not work for everyone.
My daughter is 10. Is there anything I can do to help her for concentrate?
The opinion of one Canadian: the aspects of French culture described here are better than the alternatives.
I love the French approach
I don't think kids should not be forced to eat everything on their plates.
Very useful ❤
Amazing❤
“Adrenaline & deep breathing cannot coexist in the body at the same time” … 🤯🤯🤯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
My mum lett me be bored also hahaha I was raised late 60.s . We had to find ways to play with other siblings or alone while my mum tend to the house. Not a Lott of activity was going on back then nor sreentime. And it's true you learn to be creative.
Very interesting. I've listened to a lot French parents and can say without a doubt this was my grandmother's take on parenting and my mother's. We have French ancestors on my grandmothers side and I can see a lot of these strategies carried over the generations. The only thing that did stick was the diet however, I am on a mission to correct this in my family. Thank you for sharing!
The chicken nugget thing in the US is absolutely a post Gen X phenomenon. Food may not have been as gourmet before the 90’s but kids did eat balanced meals much of the time with the whole family. Even school cafeteria food was somewhat balanced and included fresh fruits and vegetables. Somewhere we lost our way and traded saving time to cram more stuff in the day for nutrition and mealtimes. Of course not everyone is like this but the fact restaurants changed their children’s menus practically overnight and everyone just went with it says something about how much we value food, quality of ingredients, and mealtimes as a society. Collectively we have not been able to drive the food industry to do better. Our grocery stores are basically landmines of unhealthy chemical laden fake foods that we have been convinced are good or the standard. It’s very frustrating. Great effort, time and money goes into sourcing good food here. We just don’t have access to it as much as in France but that again is because we are not driving the demand for it due to our hustle get ahead at all costs culture. It’s a vicious cycle. I eat in the French or old fashioned American style but I know not everyone has the luxury to do so or do not see the value in it. So there we are. It will be interesting to see how things change over the next 50 years. Hopefully for the better! ❤
I love it! You are like a breath of fresh air !
this is great! i have to admit that my four-year old called me out on interrupting her recently. I apologized because we should treat children with the same respect that we want them to demonstrate!
Thank u so much needed this
Finally, someone who gives me tactics to stay calm bc my fight or flight is faster than my brain
Liberating! Thank you for your perspective!
Exactly how I am feeling currently, thank you for the video! I have a 2 and a almost 4 year old, living in UK, but coming from Hungary (left in 2018). I know from a while that I need a real break or just a good friend chat, my husband is very nice and trying to help me, but as you said it is not the same as talking to another mother. I find it very difficult in UK to make friendships, people are incredibly kind, but they don't let you close to them easily. Unfortunately, my family stayed in Hungary and our connection is not as good as before, they just keep critisizing me if I do something differently (e.g. I was an evil because I gave formula to my newborn baby when he didn't want to accept my breast milk). Anyway, I am trying to follow your tips and hoping it will be easier tomorrow. Stay strong and good luck to all the mummies! ❤
The more we learn about child development, the more compassion we have, and the better parents we will be.
Praise be to God, we Muslims draw reassurance from performing the prayer imposed on us by our Most Merciful, Wise Lord, in addition to the fact that its movements (prostration and kneeling) are among the important movements for childbirth. Likewise, patience in the face of pain and difficulties in anticipation of the eternal reward of the afterlife, and in obedience to God, without dissatisfaction with His destiny, expiates the sins of everyone who is patient. If I am a Muslim mother, I remind myself during childbirth that God will finally bless me with someone who will be my support and I will be his support, helping each other to do what the Creator created us for. And I gain the reward for raising him and those after him, an ongoing charity and mountains of good deeds that will never end on the Day of Judgment.
I was raised Catholic and we think almost the same.
Thank you so much. I’m actually just an aunt helping raise my nieces and I don’t want us to raise my nieces the same way we were raised and these tips really helped a lot. I look forward to putting them in practice in our home
Wasn't expecting much from this video, but this was amazing and completely relatable. Thank you so so much.
I love your videos
Love your honesty in your videos. Parenting is such a struggle and your videos are so refreshing. Glad I came across them. Thank you❤
Here in Denmark, we don't feed our kids outside weekends. It is way too expensive. Kids don't talk to their parents, either. The first word they say to the parents, is when they are 18 years old, the word is goodbye.
I'm listening while folding my laundry and i nod soo many times like crazy. Thank you!! You are speaking out my mind
Thank you very much for this video. I have a 15 month old - who is amazing! Recently experiencing heavy burnout (I think) all of the symptoms/feelings you mentioned are completely relatable. I hope to utilize your tips asap. This burnout is the worst feeling but i feel a little better after watching your video. I hope you are well!! ❤
Well done.. My first viewing of your site. Really instructive on every front. It has allowed me to understand parenting styles in Bordeaux where we live now, including the all important place of eating in the food capital David W
well said
I’m a mother to be in Singapore and very much like in the UK & US, we put our child first as if they are the centre of the universe, and that made alot of them very entitled. I’m glad that I am exposed the French parenting and not feel guilty, or feel like motherhood has to be a sacrifice! Please make some more of such videos!! ❤
My triggers are going off waiting for you to get to the point 😂
It feels like I just went to church ❤. I am thankful for this video and I am thankful for you. ❤
I dont understand a single word from this mumbling. Please, learn correct pronounciation.
Love this!! Thank you 💗✨🙏
This is a very helpful video. Things are explained clearly with good examples. Thanks for your efforts.
