Foliar fertilising the Jackfruit trees
G'day folks, time to foliar fertilise the Jackfruit trees with micronutruents. Early start before the sun gets too hot to avoid burning of leaves. What a beautiful morning 🥰

Canistel Season and sunny days at last 😎

G'day folks! Its been a while! The endless days of rain have kept us off farm & stopped us filming anything to interesting. Finally we got some sunny days just in time for Canistel season. Rain limits farming....so I made this rain tree table!
Просмотров 1967 месяцев назад
G'day folks. Well the rain just hasn't stopped! So hard to get out on the farm so lucky I had a wet season job up my sleeve and made this beautiful dining table from a slab we had cut from a rain tree we had to fell a few years ago. We did have a few short lived sunny periods which allowed us to use our new chipper trailer and jackfruit trailer and do a bit of pruning. Music from #Uppbeat (free...
Fruit picking & chipping prunings just got easier!
Просмотров 2958 месяцев назад
G'day folks! The rain just keeps coming so we turned our focus to undercover jobs. We got a new trailer to make picking fruit easier and that left the old trailer surplus to requirements so Ian converted it to a trailer for the chipper to make chipping and mulching easier. Lots of laughs along the way 🤣 Follow us on Instagram - meadowcroftfarmqld Facebook - meadowcro...

Canistel crop management | Monsoon arrives | Cassowary & chick visit the farm
Просмотров 4599 месяцев назад
G'day folks. Hot & humid here in the tropics 🥵 Ian gets stuck into canister crop management and explains how and why we thin out the fruit. The monsoon arrives and we cop a fair drenching which delays pruning for now. The cassowaries are on the move and Ian was lucky enough to see a dad Cassowary with his chick 🥰 cuteness alert 🩷 Follow us on Instagram - meadowcroftfarmqld Facebo...

G'day folks. It sure is Hot & Sticky in the tropics right now! Farm jobs are limited to early mornings and late afternoons to avoid the heat of the day. We are trying to get on top of the jackfruit pruning again. We were also very pleased to have finally removed all the trellising wire! Cyclone Jasper - Part 2. We dodged a bullet!
Просмотров 22811 месяцев назад
G'day folks. Cyclone Jasper crossed the coast north of us and thankfully we didn't have too much damage. The rain afterwards has been insane, records have been broken and major flooding has occurred. Again, thankfully we dodged that too. Our thoughts are with folks north & inland of us who have endured some devastating flooding from this event 😢 Follow us on Instagram - meadowcrof...

GREAT keep up the good work . lol terry
how is the farm going looks good hope you , angela and stumpy are all well . lol terry
Good thanks, picking Jackfruit regular now.
Thanks yau from Indonesian
Do you eat or do anything with the seeds?
Not really, as we send the fruit away whole.
@meadowcroftfarmqld8577 When you consume one you chuck the seeds as well? I've been told they can be quite good if prepared right.
@Blackdog1811 if we open one we use the seeds to grow root stock.
i tried this method on 4 jackfruit seedlings. all of them rotted. i live in nsw and temp did go down to 13C like in the nights. is it low temp that killed the buds?
Quite possibly, but my success rate was poor when i first started grafting, but improved as I progressed
Thanks for sharing this video , i can and will try on my 5 years old tree ,and it has fruit but turn brown fell to the ground , i learned so much , watching ftom Australia 🇦🇺 Newcastle nsw area. ❤
also how long the the life span of grafted jackfruit tree? they say only good for 10 to 12 years... is it true? thanks,
There are trees out there that are way older than that. I've heard the same said about rambutan trees, but there are trees out there well past 20 years.
how old the tree same as in the video for 2nd pruning? thanks
Our oldest trees are nine years old now.
basicly hot , cold rotating pain in the neck but going to coffs harbour soon my son said it,s warm there , look after yourselves . lol terry
Good illustration 🙏
all is going well by the looks of things , keep up the good work mate . all the best terry
Not sure about your weather but we've gone straight into a heat wave. 🔥
What I am looking for. Ty
Thanks vedio
that sounds a fair thing a top up so long as it doesn,t rain , doing good job keep it up . lol terry
Yes very dependent on the weather
time to work and get things moving , is foliage fertilizer a good food . terry
We use manure fertiliser for the soil, this can lack in some micro nutrients, so we supplement with the foliar spray.
What is the folar fertiliser you are using
It's a complete mix of micro nutrients with a small amount of nitrogen (6%), there are various manufacturers. It will depend on what your local suppliers stock, ours is made by campbells
oh the boundry , good luck mate i suppose it,s the only way to get it done . all the best to you both . terry
how,s the pruning going , all the best terry
It's a ongoing job, 😅 but only about 40 trees, then it's back to clearing the boundary trees.
Bisa ga pohon bagian atas yang tadi dipotong dicangkok?
No
@meadowcroftfarmqld8577 why not?
Why is it, that when I use a garlic press to press my leaves, I do not get juice I get minced leaves. What am I doing wrong?
It can be difficult sometimes, if we have an issue, we will try adding more leaves as we crush.
Is there a book with details on how to identify some of the results from brix test testing
I don't know a book ,but we got our information from articles on the internet. A great source is a gentleman called Graeme Sait.
i know that latex can be a pain , that,s why i liked my machette but then i didn,t have an orchard just a tree here and there but it is just as bad on machettes . lol terry p.s don,t forget to put angela,s knife back .
get worn out one way or the other , it,s good to hear you are both on the mend , i suppose all the work you done before has started growing back again , stay healthy wealthy and wise . lol terry 👍
It really knocks you about, but we are back and fighting fit, well, almost lol
sorry about that , not a good thing when your running a farm , hope you get better soon lol terry .
Cheers, we are on the mend now, trying to catch up on jobs 👍
how,s things going up there mate the weather holding out lol terry
As a special treat Angela came home with covid, we've managed to dodge it all this time, so we've both been coughing and sneezing and generally spent two weeks feeling sorry for ourselves.
I have 3 trees like above but I am not getting fruits at the time of crop small fruits are turning into black colour what can I do please guide us We are from India Telangana
Those that are turning black and rotting will be male flowers
making headway are you , those umberella trees look good but the roots go down a long way you need a brush cutter . lol terry
It's the same with a lot of weed trees, they have a really deep tap root. But something you take care of just suddenly turns up its boots and dies.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
i hope angela enjoyed her kyaking experience . lol terry
Yes she loved it thanks
how,s the clearing getting on up there succesfully i hope . lol terry
A few days of work to go, but the marsh flies are pretty bad at the moment, so not able to spend a lot of time doing it
You guys have a talent at explaining complex matters. Great job!😊
Thank you! 😃
beautiful farm..
they have a problem with that , like the cane toads like a lot of things they have done to australia . lol terry
wow you,ve got a job and a half you need one of them council mulchers that eats anything best of luck . terry
The weed we are having issues with was a plant that was brought into Australia as an indoor plant. It would appear that someone has planted it outdoors somewhere. It is full of berries that the birds love but spread the seeds everywhere. It's not an exaggeration to say that by the time we've finished, we will have removed at least 500, maybe more.
nice video
whats the distance of each tree?
Our are 4.5 mtrs apart and are kept to no more than 4 mtrs high
@@meadowcroftfarmqld8577 ohh thats maximixing the space. Im confuse im planning to start but othrts saying 8x8 to 10x10 should be better
i hope someone can give you an answer , it would make it easy on all growers , good growing to you terry .
How it smell?
They smell awful but taste good 👍
En qué fase lunar se deve podar la yaca
The moon calendar only gives 2 days a month for pruning (day 3 and day 4) before a new moon. It would not be possible for ourselves to prune all our trees in this time period, so we just prune the trees when needed
it,s like most places you get told what to do by someone behind a desk who has not looked at the real problem , all you can do is your best . lol terry👍
Yes, we do it for our own record and make our own decisions on what to do.
Brilliant, I just pruned my jack 33 using your method. Thank you so much for all these informations
A lot of growers do this for ease of picking the fruit.
Ian it’s difficult with tropical fruits and soil as so little reasearch has been done when compared to the sugar cane industry for example. They get told exactly what they need to put out and have fertiliser custom made based on their soil tests. Those of us with tropical fruit trees are largely flying blind.
Yes, it is difficult. There are so many different crops that it's just not viable for companies to do the research as they are small volume crops. Government departments again focus on large volume crops. We've had three different agronomists give three different recommendations, two of which worked for the same company. lol We just look at the results to help make our own decisions and, to be honest, find leaf analysis the most beneficial over soil analysis.
Thanks
i did enjoy thank you ian and it,s good to know how to look after your garden , no matter how big or how small . lol to all terry
Would you kindly donate me that prunning machine,am using matchete to prune my jackfruit..following from kenya
Ha ha, it's definitely a great time saver.
All good
All good

glad all is going well up there hope it stays that way and you and angela make a lot more trees of different types ready for market lol terry all the best .
Amazing, thank you for sharing! Hope the garlic press doesn't go missing again, haha!
