My school system recently started to implement a zero phone policy. I’m a long term sub who is changed between schools and subjects several times a year. I am about to take over a class. I’m trying to plan how I get the students (high school) to comply without changing my focus from teaching to policing . The “ no phone” decree came down from the Governor and central office but there doesn’t seem to have any actual steps or instructions other than “ no phones” and the teachers fussing at kids and writing people up. I foresee it being ineffective and more work for the teacher. I know some schools got lock boxes or caddy but we have nothing. I anticipate this will be more time consuming and difficult than teaching the material or grading. It’s a prime example of demanding results but not explaining the steps to achieve the goal. 😤

Jorge is more than just a subject matter expert, he is someone who cares about people and helping them reach new levels in education. I know Jorge is constantly learning and growing in both his personal and professional life, which is a significant part of why he has amassed such breadth and depth of content knowledge and the ability to make that accessible to so many others. It is my opinion that the key deliverable Jorge mentions in the video is really about the empowerment he offers those who work with him.
