I trained my baby girl with Down Syndrome from shortly after birth. My mother told me it works so I tried it. After each feed I held her over a potty and encouraged her to do it, as in video. I rarely had a dirty nappy. She was totally toilet trained both ways by 2.5 years old.

Yes in my family, we say if the baby can sit he can sit on the toilet or on the potty but only one baby in the family used the potty earlier than average. He used it when he was seven months old, and he also pooped in it, but he was the only one so it’s very different by every baby.

how many hrs. is the interval if u do this method? like every after 2 or 3 hrs.?? also how u know if she wants to pee or poo???

So my sister-in-law mentioned doing something similar they started my niece pretty early not from infancy they did diapers for a little while. So this is really interesting to me and I absolutely love it. To reduce waste, save money and actually do this in a much natural way is so awesome

How long do you leave the baby on the potty?

I feel like this video is good for babysitters as well as moms! As long as the parents are okay with it, the babysitter could help potty train the little ones using this method!

I'm amazed children can potty train so early; especially knowing how many teachers have 4-5 year olds that are not.

Let me first say, don't ever Apologize for how you want to raise your child. Don't let anyone tell you how to raise your child, that's up to you. Any good parent feels like a failure at times but nobody else can tell you what to do. Unless you're asking for advice or reaching out for help, it doesn't matter if another person agrees with what you're doing with your child. Every child is different and what's good for one might not be for another, which is ok, there's no perfect parenting style.

But I never could imagine to do it right after birth (same we tried to survive😄 - now my husband at work and I'm alone I still do trying to survive.... however, would like to give it a go) My baby boy is 5 weeks now. How would you recommend using the top hat for a boy? He mostly pees while changing his nappy (sometimes more than ones.... how to hold him etc. To avoid him peeing all over the place when holding him over top hat??? Is there something I could use instead? Not sure what I find here where I live in not much choice.

As for the waking up catch, my baby usually starts crying a lot and is only soothed when she gets her drink. How can I catch that wakeup catch ?

Im having my first baby and I see how EXPENSIVE diapers are oh my god so Ive been thinking how to to potty train him as soon as he can say yes or no to "do you gotta go, buddy?" Because I dont want him to not be trained at like...4yrs old you know? One of my sisters wasnt trained until 5 and a half almost six because she was scared of the tiolet. (Every kid at their pace!) But i dont wanna be buyin diapers when my son id almost in kindergarten ;-;

According to Eric Erickson's theory on stages of development it is said that the best age to potty train a child is after 18months. That is when the child is mature enough to gain greater sense of self awareness. Infancy has many other developmental focuses. It is not the best idea to potty train an infant. There is specific age to learn specific skills. In can cause stress to the child and other psychological issues.

I did this with my nephew and had him potty trained by 10 months. He would be 25 now. <3

I think I’ll try this, my daughter is around 3 and a half months and I notice whenever I open her diapers or put her down on the diaper table that’s when she tries her best to do a bowel movement. I think she’ll pick it up quickly

I change diaper every two hours .baby never got rash ever . He used for 1.5 years. I came from cold place and diaper was better than wet pants all the time

I was actually potty train just before I started walking so a little bit under when years old I would say my parents did a pretty good job. They always brought me to the toilet to eliminate. What would you say the frequency was like when you first started up to the nine months.

I wish this was the norm! Would prevent nasty painful infections like utis, rashes, and much more from ecoli everywhere in diapers. You are good parents for prioritizing her health. How do you manage in public and guest settings?
