The CURTIS controller 1244-5451 is rated for 400 amperes. Do you mean that you've bought a new 1244-5651 (rated for 600 amps) for replacing an old 1244-5451? The controller setting of CURTIS 1244 is not complicate. Basically, if the throttle type setting is correct, the new controller should work with its default setting. We were told that 16.8V DC source can power on a CURTIS controller. But in practice, the lowest voltage that we've tried is 19.6V, on a CURTIS 1204M controller. For most occasions, we use 24V DC source. It is also recommended that you use a 24V DC source.

It is a 75 Watts AC-DC converter, we use it as the DC source for testing the controller 1268-5403. The logical circuit (control circuit) and main circuit (motor driving circuit) share the same line of Battery Negative, i.e. "B-" is a public end. @@AldenDENGI see your using a 24v dc source I hooked up 24v from the battery pack to the 4th pin ( logic Power) on J1 and the negative to the B- but my handheld wouldn't power up when plugged in, there was 24 volts going to the J3 connector also the light wasn't flashing or turning on at all. I split the case and only found a very little oxidation around the 4 pins on the J3 and a little on the top board around the 11,12 23,24 pins on J1 the rest was very clean and no burn smells or anything

@@smille5291 For activating the the logical controller 1268-5403, 3 pins (J1-1, J1-2 and J1-4) are connected to B+ of DC source. J1-1 Keyswitch Input (KSI), J1-2 Logic Enable, J1-4 Logic Power. It is recommended that you check the error history of your controller. By identifying the last error of controller, you may possibly find the reason of controller fault.

You may need to use Pins J1-1 (throttle signal) and J1-12 (reverse signal). For more details, please see controller manual www.noco-evco.com/product/curtis/manual/1212-12P_manual_en.pdf

We don't have experience with 1228-2502. But there is no problem that 1314 software programmer can work with 1228-2901.

The plastic upper cover is a snap-in design. We don't have a good method to remove it from controller body. You may try to push with force from one end (long side), and peel up the cover with a tool (for example a thin screw driver) from the other end.

FIELD OC is possible FIELD OVERCURRENT error. You may need to check the resistance of field coil, avoiding the over-heating problem of motor.

@@shinosg-wiz4619 A new motor could be a simple way for resolving the problem. If it is possible, you may clean the wiring of motor control unit, and examine the gearbox (gear oil) before installing the new motor.

We cam extract the controller program from each 1268-5403 and save it as a CPF file.

For CURTIS controller 1212-2401, Pin-12 is the input of Reverse. When Reverse signal (24V+) is detected at Pin-12, the output current of controller will be reversed, then the motor will rotate reversely. With the PC station programmer, you can find the input information with "Monitor" menu.

If you have a CURTIS programmer, it could be easy to read the controller's fault history. If there is a critical fault, like shorted circuit or hardware fault, the controller can be identified as faulty. Without a programmer, you have to do a complete examination of the motor control unit, after making sure all parts are in normal status, then your controller may be the faulty one. Hope that you will soon resolve the problem.

You need to remove the block of connectors, remove the clip rings. You need also peel off the blue label on the status LED, remove the screws. Making sure that all screws are off, try to open the rear end of cover with a flat screw driver of small crowbar. Hope that you will success.

Hi. The error 3,4 is a fault "FIELD MISSING". If you are sure that the wiring is correct and there is not a circuit open, it could be a hardware fault. Possibly, the controller's current sensor is bad. But for a brand new controller, it is recommend that you check the setting of "AUX DRVR MODE". If you are not using the EM brake and WalkAway, you may set the parameter value as "0" (auxiliary driver Off) and try again.

​@@dinischkalai8818 We don't have the experience on Genie Z45 boomlift. 1268-5403 works with 36V or 48V DC SepEx motor. A hall-effect speed sensor should be available for detecting both the motor speed and the rotating direction. If the old controller of Genie Z45 is a similar controller to 1268-5403, by properly reprogramming the controller 1268-5403, it could be a replacement. Your attention please, 1268-5403 does not support ITS throttle. So if Genie Z45 is equipped with an ITS throttle, you may need to consider to change a throttle. By changing the wiring, 1268-5403 can work with popular 0-5K or 0-5V throttles, and no need of changing controller's throttle setting.

@@youtuba2667 No, we don't know where the speed sensor is located. You may need an electric engineer to check the circuit board of controller. We don't have the experience on hardware. My technical colleagues use CURTIS software 1314-4402 to monitor the work data on computer.

For most CURTIS controllers, 24V DC source is good for diagnosing purpose. At present, we know that 1239E controllers have a separated 12V DC source for its logical circuit, can not use 24V DC power source.

If the fault history is cleared, you may not trace the problem source of the current fault of controller. For example, if the controller has an error of Over-Voltage before, it may cause the possible damage of some logical circuit components, but not to lead an immediate controller failure. If you remove the fault history, you may wrongly understand the cause of the controller's hardware fault when it happens.
