As a 9 year old Dolphin fan, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game on TV. I’ve never understood the concept of stopping playing football when you’re way ahead or way behind. Either way, you lose your sharpness. Yeah, put your reserves in, but run your offense.

6:50 Wow, worst PI call ever. They called offensive PI on Larry Little, the right guard. He was blocking for Morris on a screen and didn't even touch the LB until Morris had caught the ball. Further, the pass was caught behind the line of scrimmage, and PI only applies one yard and beyond the line of scrimmage. That's the rule now, and I believe it has not changed since 1972. Even back then, I'm surprised that Shula and the players weren't going crazy on the ref for that call. Been watching Football since 1971, and I believe I have never seen another penalty on an offensive lineman. If they are that far downfield, usually the call will be ineligible receiver down field.

This is an unfair comparison because the 1973 Miami Dolphins were a much better team that the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Having said that, the 1972 Miami Dolphins had probably the most intelligent defense of all time who had two outstanding defensive backs, Dick Anderson & Jake Scott, who would do a fantastic job of covering Lynn Swann & John Stallworth. Even though the awesome Steel Curtain would do a great job of containing Larry Czonka, Jim Kick & Mercury Morris in the end I think the Miami Dolphins would win by 1-3 points. They always found a way to win & they did something the Pittsburgh Steelers never did, go undefeated. You can criticize the 1972 Miami Dolphins weak schedule all you want to but they beat everybody who they played, including the Pittsburgh Steelers & the Washington Redskins in The Super Bowl who they weren't even favored to win. One thing is certain, the Miami Dolphins would've been much harder for the Pittsburgh Steelers to beat than the Dallas Cowboys were. I don't want anybody to think I'm underestimating the greatness of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm not because any NFL Team that wins 4 Super Bowls in 6 years can easily go down in history as the Best Team Ever but in this match up the Miami Dolphins would be a formidable opponent.

I watched this game. Vikings celebrated in preseason paid for it in SB. Miami didn't forget. There wasn't much difference in preseason games back then from reg. games. Other than being sloppy players played hard not like today's business men. Today's game getting worse every year.

The Monday Night game against the Jets was the 2nd game in the 1984 season that I attended. Dan tied the single season record for TD passes by throwing for 4 TDs. Plus, the Dolphins swept the Jets and clinched the AFC East!!

The Bills finally won a game in week 12. A 14-3 victory over the Cowboys.

This was the first of 4 games in 1984 that I would attend. Thank God for Doug Betters. I remember thinking, 24-23, hmmm, in ‘72 our closest game was the same score against Buffalo. We’re going to go undefeated again. I was young lol.

This was Miami's closest game as far as point-spread that year,but it was not the game that was their closest to losing.Their 16-14 win over Minnesota on October 1st was. Trailing 14-6, Garo Yepremian's 51 yard FG with 4:15 to go,got the Fins within a TD of winning. The Dolphin's D came up the the stop and with 1:28 Jim Mandich's 3 yard TD catch gave the Fins the lead for good. Then the Dolphins' D kept the Vikings in their own half of the field, out of range for a Fred Cox FG. It was a wild game.

Thanks for this - I recall this game as an Eagles fan. Eagles were going through a pretty mediocre year, but surprisingly started extremely hot and then took the then 10-0 Dolphins right down to the wire. It was a better game than probably either side's fans were expecting, and was something of a precursor to the following week when Miami's unbeaten streak would finally come to an end.

Even though they were 5-3 after this game he just had no respect from the locker room. The Pats were actually 8-4 at one point in 84. But finished 9-7. But the foundation for 85 was established once Raymond Berry took over

I am so glad that this popped up on RUclips. This was a pure shot of wonderful nostalgia. It was good to watch Marino and Moon again. The radio commentary just added some extra juice to the whole thing. I'm an English fan of American Football, and 1984 was the first season I saw coverage of an NFL season. I remember A friend of mine said when Marino got knocked down real hard in game, and he said "They knocked down the corvette". Marino finished game and came out of Three Rivers with a win.
