corrections... here we go. 1. this is a common misunderstanding and sort of semantics but the types of dwarfism are really just proportionate and disproportionate. the conditions (like achondroplasia, pseudoachondroplasia, etc) are not types of dwarfism, they're CAUSES. so it's more accurate to say there are many causes of dwarfism, not types. achondroplasia causes dwarfism, among other things (large head, depressed nasal bridge, etc). not all of the dwarfing conditions are from bone deformities (skeletal dysplasias), dwarfism can also be caused by medical conditions such as hormonal related or from malnutrition. 2. it's not always a 50/50 chance for inheritance. that's if it's an autosomal dominant condition, like achon. if it's autosomal recessive, there's a 25% chance of passing it on ONLY if both parents are carriers for the condition. it's 50% chance if one parent actually has the condition AND the other parent is a carrier. there's also x linked and y linked recessive disorders, which are more complicated. you get the point. 3. there's research that shows hypochondroplasia causes mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and learning disabilities in a portion of those affected. i think it's like 10%. they also often have seizures, which might cause the cognitive delays. it affects the development of a certain area of the brain. there's definitely other dwarfing conditions that affect cognition, i'm just not sure of the names because they're rare. 4. dwarfism absolutely can be caused by poor nutrition, but obviously it has to be more extreme. just google "dwarfism from poor nutrition" it explains it. obviously achon is not related, but like i said, not all dwarfism is caused by skeletal dysplasia. and this is not common in the us since we have access to medical care, but it is real. 5. some dwarfing conditions can be cured if it's nutrition or hormone related. through proper nutrition, medical treatment, or hormone therapy one can reach average height. plenty of kids have to go through hormone therapy to kickstart growth/puberty. they would stay short, sometimes extreme enough to be considered dwarfism, without the treatment. and limb lengthening surgery is not only cosmetic, it's also functional (obviously it's easier to do things with longer limbs) and for mobility reasons as they also straighten the legs. and the surgery was not created for the purpose of treating dwarfism, it's originally for people with limb length discrepancies. obviously, nothing wrong with not getting the surgery though, that's a personal choice. 6. sadly, there are many dwarfing conditions that result in very early death almost 100% of the time, like thanatorophic dysplasia. 6. you guys are not educated on dwarfism, you're pretty much only educated on achondroplasia.

The name correction is a struggle, but since it’s the hospital’s fault they needed to resubmit the paperwork for the birth certificate! My baby’s middle name was misspelled and I honestly thought about waiting until she was in school to correct it because you need a second for of ID to change the SS card. On the second try I was able to get it corrected with a copy of her immunization record. I can’t imagine how much harder it would have been back then. I’m just glad my baby has the correct name now.

I truly appreciate her story and I can so relate. It did affect my own relationship that unfortunately I repeated the same story because of what I saw and would do at home. as a little girl my mom had me spy on my dad and start arguments with him. That I took it to my own relationship that lead me now to be a single mom at age 20 and later married someone else but soon after divorced now age 30 I’m in therapy due to the trauma

“El amor no tiene ojos.” Literally so true. While of course we all have the specific things we’re attracted to. Once you get to know someone, that can completely change. And you’ll find yourself attracted to someone you didn’t think you would. I don’t look at people that way anymore. It’s about who the person is on the inside.
