First Week of Winter Quarter Vlog UC Davis
I wanted Love Story 😭
Idk how to explain it but she looks and sounds very kind
Would you happen to know how much space you had under your bed?
moving in next month! so looking forward & watching this made me super excited
Hiii, is this Apartment Model A or B?
At the very start of the video, you were standing next to one of the weirdest buildings in davis. The death star. It's all just grey concrete with no rhyme or reason to its layout. Stairs that seam to go nowhere.
If you’re a mintie 10+ point to huddle puff haha (I’m in mint) Stumbled onto this channel stalking the marching band cuz I have a few friends in it. Love the content gurly🫶🏼
Hi Jess, I just got accepted by both UCI and UCD. Can I ask u some questions as I'm trying to decide which school would be the better fit for me. Btw my major is environmental science
Hello! I don’t have any information regarding UCI, but I could try to answer some questions about my experience at davis :)
@@Jess.Michelleis there any ski resort near ucd? How long is the winter in California
Thanks for your video! How much is your monthly rent? TIA.
Since it’s affiliated with the school, rent is paid quarterly. There’s more information about rates on the website!
@@Jess.Michelle Thanks. We actually passed by you in front of the Sage Street Market early Sunday afternoon as we were checking out The Green with our son. I should've said "hi" and thanked you for posting your video 🙂
There was bad storms
I saw you I was shopping
omg the memes are immaculate 3:31 speaks to my soul lol
Somos vecinos 🤣
you are so pretty omg! i love your room💕💕
You look familiar
I’m thinking of transferring there thanks for showing the campus around !!
I would dieeee for this stickersss!!!!
Hi, question, does Davis offer online classes for students who need to learn remotely?
Hmm I’m not sure. I would recommend looking at some of the official UC Davis websites for the most accurate and up to date info. :)
I saw you at shields and didn't know how to come say hi so I kinda just waved at you 😭. I've been binging your videos about Davis since the moment I found out that I got in and they've really helped me. I just wish I was better at socializing so I could've said thanks to you in person.
do u have roomates there or can u live solo
It depends on availability because the different layouts are limited. There are studio apartments available (where there’s no roommates), but they are more difficult to get. I have my own room, but share a common area with three other roommates. :)
Great video!!
As an incoming transfer student I just wanna say I'm really thankful for your channel
Omg I’m from Davis too and make college vlogs we should definitely collab some time or meet up!
Thanks for posting. I enjoy your videos. See you in September. (oh it is September)
informative good video............................
You would have loved Davis in the 70s and 80s. The stores were pretty much nothing but these kinds of places.
Thank you for this informative video! Quick question - do you know what material the couch covers are? Or how to clean them?
I’m not sure. I don’t think there is a removable cover. My roomates and I do not use the couch very much, so we just clean it every once in a while.
Thanks for the video. Have you seen people with electric scooters? I prefer a scooter rather than a bike. Also could you link your keyboard below if you don’t mind it looks adorable!
I’ve seen a few scooters I think. I got the keyboard as a gift so I’m not sure. I think it was from Amazon tho! :)
Hi, can you come home after orientation is over or you have stay on campus
Last years program ended right before classes started. Not too sure how it will be for future years, but I think classes start pretty soon after. :)
Thanks!
Thank you for this video!! Very helpful! I had one question- Does the Green charge you for staying in the apartment over the summer? I've seen many people have roommates that leave for the summer but some stay in the apartment over summer so I was just wondering how that works. Thank you!!
I think it depends on when the lease started, but it goes through sometime in August. You do not have to pay extra to stay for the summer, as it is just part of the cost that you pay during the year.
Everyone majoring in business should open a coffee shop near a college campus. That's the way to go!
Great video! I lived in the Green when it first started (i.e. in 2020), and like many, I left after 1 year of staying there. I have some PROs and CONs that I've written, but I never made a video about it because I'm too lazy 😅 So I'll post it here for anyone deciding or decided to move to the Green. This is not a critique of what you've missed in the video at all, it's just more of what I think of the Green from my experience. I would preface by saying that I have lived in a rented room in LA for 4 years, so my experience and criticism would be a bit different from others bc I'm a bit picky with noise and stuff. PROs: -It has a sensitive fire alarm with built-in water sprinklers in every room -Opening the room door will unlock itself from the inside -The drawers have a tiny resistance when you push them in so it doesn’t make a sound even when you slam them in, which is pretty nice -Maintenance people will check on the fire alarm, door locks, and AC air filter on occasions (usually during Winter Break when everyone is not living in the rooms, which can be a CON if you don't like strangers going to your room) -The bed is a standard Full-size bed and it feels good imo (some people say buying a topper would be better if you like the bed soft) -There’s tons of space under the bed for you to put boxes -The “closet” has enough space to hang a lot of clothes -There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen -There are 2 free dishwasher packets and a stove-top cleaner CONs: -Air conditioning has limited controls -Studios don’t have dishwashers in it, and the bedroom for studios are not carpeted -The walls and floors are not soundproof whatsoever. You can hear your roommate talk in the living room from your bedroom as if you're right next to them. -You could hear the toilet paper being used if you’re room is next to the restroom -You can hear the chairs being used upstairs -Only one Ethernet port located in the living room -The wifi is not stable. You will often disconnect, and that’s not good when you are taking a quiz on Canvas. So I use my phone’s hotspot, which can be inconvenient. Recently (June 2022), there has been a wifi outage that lasted 10 hours around the time of the finals!! -There’s no gate to protect your bikes from thieves!! -There have been well over dozens of bikes that have been stolen, and the thieves are "protected" by California's Proposition 47 where even if they get caught, they'll be back soon to steal more. Registering your bike does help a little, but it doesn't bc the bikes are not usually found once stolen. -The living space gets crowded if you put all 4 bikes in the apartment, but you won't get your bike stolen. -No police department around if you have an emergency, and they usually show up 20 minutes later after you've called them -The elevator malfunctions on occasions, but it depends on your luck with what building you are in. Same with the fire alarm, some building will have fire alarms go off for the entire building in the middle of the night and everyone has to evacuate the building...so fun... -Lockout of your room? Wait 3 hours and pay $50 to get it opened -Car parking is expensive, and they wash the solar panels that don’t block water from your car, which makes your car dirty -The windows outside are dirty and no one cleans them. They do spray water at end of the lease, but it creates water spots instead of clean windows Sort-of Cons: -Financial Aid: If you are in a Double and have good fin aid, then everything is pretty much covered. I was in a Single, and with the 9-Meal Plan, I had to pay $2,500 out-of-pocket every quarter. Then it became around $1,500 every quarter bc I removed the meal plan, and I also didn't take out any Loans bc of my concern wth the interest rate. If you want to know how much will you be paying BEFORE you move in, the fin aid office CAN NOT give you an estimate bc of..."reasons". Trust me, I called them many times so I can give myself a budget for the quarter, but they can't give you an answer until the quarter starts in about 2 weeks. -The Meal Plan is a waste of money. You can save more by cooking food yourself since you have a kitchen already. When you buy the meal plans, you are also DEPOSITING $200 of Aggie Cash that you have to spend ON CAMPUS where things are overpriced and don't roll over the next quarter (they don't tell it to you like I did, they market it as "You get a free $200 to spend on Campus whenever you like"...yeah total BS). However, I still recommend that you go for the 9-Meal Plan for just one quarter to see if it fits your style. From my experience, 9 meals a week is PLENTY bc I usually only eat 5 meals and cook the rest at home. Therefore, you can also buy the Block Meal plan, which will save you a ton. -People cooking in the kitchen will have eco noises in your room -NO PRINTER, only on Campus and you have to bring your own computer -Every floor has its own color scheme, which doesn’t tell you when you choose rooms online -No mention of colors in the hallway as well -There’s a beeping sound coming from the front door when a fire alarm goes off, but it takes a long time for people to come and fix the problem -Celadon refers to a greenish color, but the outside of the building is not green whatsoever -Sunlight hitting the east window early in the morning -Laundry Room is located in the middle and it costs $1.25 for washing and $1.75 for drying (this was in 2021, not sure what is it now) Hopefully, you can see why so many people left after 1 year of living there. This is not to say that off-campus would be better, and if you live far away, it's gonna be hard to find a place to stay bc there's A LOT of competition when it comes to finding a room off campus. And driving back and forth just to look at a room and meet the landlord is not convenient bc even if you meet them, they might reject you (esp if you're a guy bc 1/2 the ads on Craigslist are scams, 1/4 of them say female preferred, and only 1/4 left for guys to choose from). When I was in Davis, I emailed over 30 landlords (some on FB too), I met 10 landlords and only 2 wanted me to be their roommate. When I asked the landlords how many potential roommates have they met, they said well over 10 people, so they have a lot of OPTIONS. So if you just transferred, living at the Green would be a good start to secure a spot in Davis, and you can then take the time to decide if you want to live off-campus or not.
Thank you for this list! And especially the info in the wifi! Just wondering, can you use tacks, nails or staples in the walls or just painters tape?
Thank you for taking the time to write this out! Have you lived at Sol or know anyone who has that can speak on it as well?
@@zeeal5287 A lot my friends went to the Sol. For the same price of a Single in the Green, it's way bigger in the Sol bc you get your own bathroom and an actual closet. However, since Sol is technically Off Campus, you are not covered by fin aid unlike living in the Green.
How did you get parking? Is it included?
@@GlycelMarie No...parking is not included at all. You have to pay $400 a year for a tandem space (the other person you're sharing it with pays the other $400) or $700 for a single space, I think. My numbers might be a bit off, but it's around that range
Thank you for this! Moving in September 15th!! Love your videos keep up the content!
Thank you so much for this! I am moving in sept 1st
Thanks Jess, us new comers (2022/23) keep watching/rewatching your videos about green 😂😂
I love your bedding! Do you remember where you purchased the white comforter?
I think I got it from Walmart!

Hello quick question, do you recommend moving in the green apartments? I’ll be transferring to davis fall 2023 and I’m looking into this place ! Thank you !
I’d say just like any apartment, it has both positive and negative aspects. Overall, I liked it because it is affiliated with UC Davis (so you have an individual lease, can have a meal plan, etc), but I know other people who didn’t like having an RA. The buildings themselves are very new. There’s some issues with the wifi, but nothing that bothered me too much. I also just posted an apartment tour with some more info! :)
Hey sweet blog! Is there any space for outsiders to park like guests ?
I’m not too sure. I’ve only really seen the resident parking. On the sides of the buildings there’s some 2 hour parking, but I’m not too sure on the restrictions. :)
so aesthetic; my fav youtuber ever
How did u attach the mirror to the door? It doesn't come with the room right?
The mirror was already there when I moved in :)
how do you like that printer? was looking at it for when I start dorming. and tysm for the video!
For me personally, I don’t particularly like the printer. It’s nice to have a printer, but mine seems to run out of ink super fast and doesn’t always print super clear.
Thank you for this I am starting in the FALL!
Love this!
LOVE this jess !!! keep up the great work !!!
I chose davis out of davis, penn state and michigan state and I'm so happy I did, it feels very warm and welcoming already:)
Real question is which school would you rather go to?
Cows aka giant puppies. Have you seen them run around playing? They're adorable.
Is your calendar with the adorable little sheep from Edgar's Mission? Your little sloth hair tools holder is so cute. And that slide out tray thing on the desk looks so convenient for when you need some extra space.
I received the calendar as a gift, so I am not quite sure. Yes the desks in the Tercero dorms that I was in offered a lot of storage space! :)
Hi! I'm an incoming freshman and I'm wondering if the campus is generally overcrowded/overpopulated. I'm hoping for a calm, laidback environment :))
I would say it varies throughout the day. It gets a little busy and hectic during the common times when classes are switching, but besides that I would say it’s not too bad. There are several chill spots on campus including the arboretum. :)
@@Jess.Michelle I'm not a fan of big crowds, so this is very helpful, thank you! I'm excited to enter this fall!
