I did, and really enjoyed them all!
Brat CANNOT be lyrically dense - you cannot have charli singing over the entire running length and have the busy instrumental shine through. What she does that IS new of pop music is convey girlhood in this era as it is, warts and all. The uncertainty, discomfort, forgiveness, reconciliation. Even song like Apple makes packs in varied & vivid metaphor within its extremely brief running length. A pop record should be assessed via purpose it was meant to serve - which is to distill a musical idea within a much shorter running length and hook the listener on first listen.
I agree! I don’t think it needs to be lyrically dense, really just used that as a segue between my thoughts on the album. It’s dedication to the pop genre is what makes Brat so appealing

I lowkey didn’t find myself connecting with it as much as I thought I would. I think the songs everyone gives their love to are generally my favs on it too
Honestly, I really liked KOD but i get why you and others wouldn't. I really like the minimalist production that relies a lot more on the lyrics. I get that in I'd say a third of the project he cant execute it well between the corny preachy lines and the soulless hooks on songs like Friends, but when you get to tracks like Once an Addict Interlude (which has to be a top 5 cole song), it really shines.
