This movie depicted Muslims as honorable and innocent while the Christians was portrayed as bloodthirsty lunatics. Also, I am pretty sure that Sibylla wasn’t looking at Saladin with hungry eyes at the real event. The movie was okey and Edward Norton played this role very well. Because of his role as Baldwin, men all over the world know who he was and look up to him.
Withdraw or we will all die here. This was not an appeal to fear, but rather reason. To know our enemy is willing to die for their cause, that he understands his own mortality is daunting. How do you fight a man who is willing to lose it all?
Mans rode at the head of his army through the desert with a dying body and managed to persuade the greatest Muslim ruler of the era to not start a battle, and got a free doctors appointment too. The balls on this guy
You’re missing out on the whole movie if you didn’t watch the 3 hour long uncut edition. Yea it’s long but the story was originally was supposed to be made that way. If you thought the normal version was good the uncut was better and explained more.
These armies are way too big for the period. Saladin's forces routinely numbered between 30,000 to 40,000 at this time and the Kingdom of Jerusalem could field around 15,000 to 17,000 on a good day.
"Okay guys. In order to have this awesome picturesque clash of armies outside the city we're defending, we're going to have to depart through the rear gate, walk 20 miles or so, circle halfway around, then walk back from a completely unintuitive direction so that they see us materializing in the distance like a badass mirage. This is gonna be epic. Make sure to lock the front gate so that while we're out, they don't just, like, take the city."
Salah ad'din was an admirable king. He was extremely cunning and clever, but all of his plots and conquests were orchestrated carefully in such a way that he wouldn't be evil and denied paradise. For example, the reason he sent his physicians to Baldwin (And later to Richard Lionheart), was because he wanted to know the moment they die of disease, so that he could use that knowledge to defeat the crusaders- in Baldwin's case, attacking in interregnum. But he executed that plot by the use of kindness, rather than spies hiding in shadow, or traitors purchased with coin. That is the best a medieval ruler could allow themselves to be, since some evil was necessary to keep violent people in line.
So many people think saladin withdraw the fight because its mutual respect, they don't understand the point of desert war. He only agree to withdraw because he knows baldwin was not a stupid tactician, he already won one war against him. Saladin craves Jerusalem but he knows its a lost cause. Baldwin knows that salahadin was the agressor so he'll just wait near watering holes since its his land. And saladin will have to attack if he wants to fight, eventually digging their own grave.
“I will send you my physicians”. Many won’t understand that in this era, Arab physicians were the best in the world, their medical knowledge & technology was second to none by a colossal margin. To say this, in offering your best doctors to aid your arch enemy, was a sign of great, perhaps the greatest, respect by Saladin. Truly a monumental moment.
Baldwin offered to punish the dude, or he didnt care to win but end each other. Imagine fighting for the sake of both sides to die. Not to win at all, just for both sides to die. He made him 2 good offers, one was to punish the dude, and the other was to live. Sounds like a great deal.
Une autre époque un autre contexte , aujourd'hui on est ensemble face aux armées de l’antechrisht.
Islam is Hell
My Lord spoke to me “You are Forgiven”

Imagine marching in the desert inside a steel/iron suit.
Army of pedophiles vs army of terrorists, wtf.

"A KING doesn't kill another KING ! "
Who’s the person with the mask
I do like how both show of forces could be wiped out by one aircraft today.
وعليكم السلام
Baldwin: back off or you’ll have a massacre on both sides and I’m dying anyway , so I’ve got nothing to lose! Saladin: Good point!
Is like Jews winning the Palestinians
All for a nonexistent god, when all the responsibilities and possibilites lie with yourself.

Jerusalem has come ❤
2023 and we are still fighting for who gets Jerusalem.
This movie suuuuuuucks but neat scene
Saladin, Baldwin and Belian musta hated this meeting, since even on 1080p the resolution is awful.
Nicht uns Herr, nicht uns, sondern Deinem Namen gib Ehre.
One of the most epic scenes in movie history. A leper king of Jerusalem leading his Army to stop a war.
Saladin was the greatest king with high horror of Arab people.

Long live to the Cruisaders ✝️
Orlando Bloom is such a great actor in this scene..
The packing up was even more legendary.
"I will send you my physicians" This means so much because the muslims were the most ahead in medicine at that time
