Just saw your video on carrots and the process you’re using is similar to ours we cover after planting and deep watering for germination then uncover we’re east of you in southeast Louisiana so probably same or similar conditions enjoyed your video and just subscribed , thanks and God Bless
Sounds like we are using the same technique. Thank you for the comment!
Bought some a couple years ago and used it once or twice. Hope it doesn't have an expiration date. Thanks brother.👍
It just fungus spores so it should all be fine! Thanks for the comment brother.
Good Job. Thanks
I have struggled but I figured it was because I'm new a gardening. I planted for the second time and waiting to see what the outcome will be. They look good so far!
When was this.. what month.
If your looking to plant cabbage, broccoli, and other winter crops for the south. October November is the time.
@@GrowTheEarthI started mine the last of August, transplanted it in October. We have nights in the twenties and in January then the teens. Sone times below that. I think with a few layers of cover they should do B okay.
I am considering to grow onions, and fall is not the season I am thinking of planting in. Todays date is November 3 2024, so when growing food, and the coldest season approaches I think what people normally do is harvest their food then preserve it, so when spring of the following year arrives then seeds can be planted, or plants can be transplanted. I understand there are people who try growing in the winter, so I guess this is a matter of preference.
Frankly the time to plant depends on your area alot. If you regularly get snow in the winter then planting from starts in the spring would be a better time.
❤ Gonna order a BULK of corn meal now (and storing in buckets.) New home owner, with ants roaming around everywhere they do not belong.😩
❤ Gonna order a BULK of corn meal now (and storing in buckets.) New home owner, with ants roaming around everywhere they do not belong.😩
i hope the cornmeal works for you. the bottles i show in the video may do you well also is they are more local to an area.
Not in the Northeast! Should title this video "Plant your onion seeds now in the South." They'd all be winter killed here. I grow all my onions and leeks from seed. To have seedlings as large as I could buy locally in March at first transplant time I must start my seeds indoors in mid- to late December. They take a long time to grow to the optimum size indoors with lights. A lot of videos say you can sow the seeds as close as you want but realistically if you want seedlings to be 6 inches tall and starting to get fat and white at the bottom It pays to start seeds at least 3/4 inch apart in your seed tray. Make sure you plant them in a very deep tray! You want long roots at time of transplant when you will punch a deep hole in the earth. By March the seedlings will be big enough to transplant on a timeline that allows it enough time to reach a mature size when the day length of sunlight reaches 12 to 14 hours, the right amount of sun for long day onions to bulb out. I also plant some singly and some in bunches. The ones in bunches are early harvests for me. I picked the biggest one out of the bunch leaving the others to grow larger with less competition. Meanwhile the single bulbs will be my largest at the end. It's nice to have some small onions for months before the big ones are ready to harvest. I do the same thing with carrots and beets, some singly and some in bunches.
Thank you for the comment. Yes this is definitely geared towards people in zones 8 and higher. I myself watch a lot of wonderful youtubers that garden up in the snowy north and their plant times are way off from mine. I still watch for their ideas and another point of view on a subject I'm passionate about.
Basically one of the only simply explained in Seth composting video I’ve seen. Thank you 🙏
Glad you liked it. Hope it helps you understand the process and make composting easier!
I have had good success using half powered sugar and either baking soda or boric acid. I usually look for a stream of ants on my irrigation lines and put those ingredients in their way. It is amazing watching them get excited with their new find and running around telling others about it! DE earth is on the expensive side. I guess I could add the DE earth to my mix. I don't get ant hill either! Thanks for the info!
Yes powdered sugar will work well for that. Thanks for the comment!
From my experience at least carpenter ants don't seem to cause to much issues it's the smsller ones they milk aphids, pretty sure the carpenters would jurt eat thrm.
Had to use the old Google machine but it seems carpenter ants farm aphids too but seem to be more of a menace to wooden structures. Thank you for the comment!

@@GrowTheEarth you’re very welcome
I thought there was a free way to get started, I guess you still need to buy a banana plant to get free bsnana plants haha
You could always get one free from someone who has them. I've given many plants/ trees away that are easy to propagate or self replicate.
So ... where's the beef, er bananas.?
Unfortunately this banana was hurt by the freeze last year and had to start over growing this year or it would have fruited.
Bananas aren't trees they are plants.
You are absolutely correct they are a plant but are commonly referred to as trees because of their size.
This comment is 🍌🍌🍌
Gigantic herb I believe
Interesting concept. Makes a lot sense for sense.
It makes sense for me. Did quite a bit of research about it and excited to see a bed to bed comparison. Thank you for the comment!
Yeah buddy! Everyone needs a relationship with Jesus! For me, it’s September zone 6b and I’m wondering when to remove the shade cloth from my first year hoop house? Any ideas? God bless you!
The best time to remove shade cloth is when your temperature highs are in the mid 80s and you nighttime Temps are getting lower where you need to conserve the heat.
@@GrowTheEarth Thank you. I think that’s now. Blessings!
Thank you for the question! Bless you sister!
Nice video on okra, and it’s usual suspects! 😅
Thank you for the comment!
Horrible job with this video... he didn't properly show the product and he took way long
He taking too long to address the ants!!!
Thank you for interacting with this video. This was a video I made very early on in my RUclips channel. What things would you like to see a video on? Things you may struggle with as a gardener?
I have found someone in Texas, will be checking out everything you have to say because I am new to this and I need to know when, what, how, to plant in this Texas heat.
Hopefully I can help. I don't know everything but I know it's a different world growing in this part of the US.
Ordering now!!
This is one of those God sent products for people like me who have struggled with these pest!
I have used Tanglefoot for trees on my okra plants for years. It's also cheap and can be found at stores.
Thanks for your channel, I’ve noticed potting soil - same brand - changes or goes to heck during the season
unfortunately it's a numbers game. least amount of money in and most out. There are some really good bagged soils out there but you can get the same results with a little fertilizer and topsoil mixing it yourself. thanks for the comment!!
What is the name of glue you put on okra plant to prevent ants from
This isn't the exact product but one just like it I used. Catch EM' Sticky Coating 8oz Brush on Insect Trap Coating(Brush Cap) a.co/d/03pbw0CW. I provided this link for ease of identification. I get nothing if you click this link.
Thank goodness, I seen these in my garden this morning and didn’t know what to do. Appreciate you for your input ❤
Your okra plants are beautiful! Thank you for the great tips! And thank you for the scripture reading from the Book of Proverbs. God bless! 🙏🏼
Thank you! It's all God's work and not mine.
Omg thank you so much for this! They keep popping up in my gardens and I didn’t know what to do ❤
1. Weeds 😂 2. Okra (heat tolerant, ants are the only pest, prolific producers) 3. Beans (prolific, tolerant, few pests) 4. Carrots (few pests, early spring start) 5-6. Beets and Radish (dont mind shade, quick the mature early spring to 90 days, and fall, successsion plants, few pests) 7. Potatoes (don't need to watered much, they let you know when to harvest, few pests, almost year round) 8. Peppers (many varieties, drought tolerant, prolific producer up until first frost) 9-10. Onion and Garlic (edible, store a long time, deter pests, grows well during their season in your zone and can either harvest the root or the greens) 11. Eggplant (various types, few pests, hardy producers, heat tolerant, easy to care for) 12. Watermelon (takes up space)
Thanks for the run down of the video.
Hi! Beginning Gardener here. Thank you for this video, I wanted to ask, where would you suggest to plant the onion and garlic in my garden to keep pest away?
To protect one bed I would plant them either in that bed that your trying to protect or on the outer edges of your garden if you want to protect you whole garden.
I started my farden in grow bags because the soil i have is not good
Great. You've made the first step to a hobby that will consume you! LOL. grow bags are fine to grow in. just remember as the heat creeps up during the summer your going to have to water more. the root ball being above ground will allow wind and heat to evaporate the water from the bags.
Thank you for this
You are very welcome!
Brown cardboard is best for the bottom of the mulch We have gotten 24 truck loads in one year in the country
I would totally agree with you. Cardboard under the mulch would definitely be a better base for weed control than just straight mulch. Thanks for commenting!
I've got seeds from a friend down the road from me who grows cowhorn every year and iv saved seeds from those plants for the past maybe 4 or 5 years. 🐯
GOD had told me it's time now that HE would be removing the shade of my garden .. I didn't know what HE meant ..coz I didn't have a garden... I searched and came across ur video...thanks so much . GOD BLESS YOU 🙌
Beautiful way to grow, God bless you!
can you list the name of the sticky stuff, or hold the bottle still where we can read it.......or
Tangle free sticky coating
You can also use Tanglefoot for trees.
great information Thanks
This method will be very laborous if you have a large commercial farm. Ain't it?
large commercial farms tend to use chemicals to kill pest. I have a much different approach since it's a small garden that I grow organically.
I wonder if you could have accomplished the same thing with some $ store double sided tape 😂
double sided tape would be affected by the elements too much I would think. Give it a try. I am by no means an expert and there is always a better way.
Thanks for this. I had the seedlings in the ground but had to transplant them back into large pots due to pests.
Amen brother! Which okra variety that you've grown over the years has the best yields?
The most prolific plants we have have to be the red burgundy okra. always large strong plants that produce great.
Couldn't find any other video on these and yours popped right up, thank you! Very helpful.
Thank u sir great video , have a blessed day
Thanks so much!
I, can you give me the name of your product please. I would like to buy it.

What a great ideal ! Cheers !
How do I get the ants off the bottoms of leaves or flowers?Tjank you for making this video. I just love okra and really fought ants last year. The base of your okra plant looked hearty. By the time my okra got that big to paint the base, I’d already have them all over my leaves. Any advice?
