2000 years later... - Real Life Civil Engineer Builds a Park in Planet Coaster
Hey! Sorry for the long abscence; between having no time to film and losing half of my progress on this project I got a little demotivated, but I'm back, at least for this episode. Bit of a warning though; since I'll be going abroad for three months, no content will be uploaded in the meantime, but this is on purpose. I feel like I need to get away from the computer and planet coaster and get inspired again visiting new theme parks and come back with a new state of mind. Hope you guys understand it, and thank you for the patience and support!
See you guys soon.

What if Gerstlauer REIMAGINED an Intamin ACCELERATOR?

We all know how Zamperla is the company in charge of the reimagining of the legendary Top Thrill Dragster. That got me thinking: what if several manufacturer did this with a roller coaster from other manufacturer? Today, with the help of the random roller coaster function from the Roller Coaster Data Base, we will reimagine an Intamin Accelerator located in Italy, and see how this transformatio...

In this episode we will be starting with the challenge roulette! This first challenge tals about how floodings have happened in several parts of the park and therefore we need to do something about it to make sure that no more floodings will happen, damaging our rides. For this, I've taken the same idea that the city of Venice (Italy) uses to make sure no floodings ruin the city. It's a really ...

Welcome back! It has been a long time huh? Anyways, last time we were building this park, we build a family oriented B&M Wing coaster. Now, in this episode, we will be focusing on finishing the adventure island (which still hasn't got a name) by theming both the wing coaster, which no will be called Huayra thanks to the input of one of you, and the Zierer Star Shape ride (finally!). Industrial Engineer here. Lesson one for me was don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. Prioritize safety, function, ergonomics, and only then appearance. Think about if it were a real theme park, guest safety would be paramount. Appearance and form are important but are still at the bottom of the pecking order. Appearance is the function of design with the lowest ROI typically compared to to other key functions of design; at least in my industry 😅

    • @PrengineBudoz
      @PrengineBudoz 5 месяцев назад

      Absolutely agree! Thing is, sometimes, in other attempts to make things like these work, trying to make it as realistic (safe, functional, etc) as possible, I ended up getting burnt out cause the game is not made to be accesible to make something realistic, so I decided to, instead of going full real, safe, etc, going for more conceptual/ imaginative. Of course, in the civil engineering industry safety and function is 100% the priority, then the looks, and if this were made in real life, a lot of changes would’ve been made cause this park would not be possible in real life because strict rules have not been followed (foundations have not been calculated, rides have not been designed with precise software…). Hell, there are not even transfer tracks in the coaster which is absolutely necessary. But again, on games like this, being 100% realistic is just not viable because the game doesn’t have the facilities to do so 😬😬

    Cool video, how does capacity compare with the added block break and train?

    • @PrengineBudoz
      @PrengineBudoz 6 месяцев назад

      Capacity can always be measured by the average dispatch interval time of the coaster, that is, the time that passes from the moment a train starts moving out of the station until the time another train gets out of the station again (when it LEAVES, not when the next train parks). Taking this into account, by adding that block break and that second train the dispatch interval time will be decreased. Lets see it this way. Dispatch interval time (1 train)=time to load/unload/check restraints on a train + time with the station empty where the train is going through the actual track + time that it takes for the train to park in the station. In a two train situation, the time with the station empty where the train is going through the actual track is much less, because as soon as one train leaves, we will have another train entering it because it was already waiting to enter (or almost there), so almost the entirety of that time will be skipped. Now imagine before we had to wait for about 60 seconds to dispatch a train. The capacity would be calculated this way: People per hour=3600/dispatch interval*numer of cars per train*number of seats per car. In this case 3600/60*4*4=960 people per hour. If we added a train the dispatch interval would be reduced. Let's imagine that it would be reduced in around 20 seconds, so our new dispatch interval time would be 40. The new capacity would be 3600/40*4*4=1440. That way, just by adding a train, we would be increasing capacity! But careful, this doesn't always mean the more trains we have=the more capacity. It has a limit, and that's where the blocks come into play. It's a complicated thing to talk about in text, maybe if you're interested in that I could make a video about it! So of course lmk if you would like that vid!

    Great series, really enjoying it. I do have a suggestion/question - The rear of your lost island area, is there a reason why you didn't create a complete loop of path between the invert and the wing coaster? Would that not improve guest flow and create a lack of bottlenecking along the path you already have? My thought is you could complete the loop from the invert plaza to the path by the entrance to the chair swing and create a photo point for when the "Pirate area" is completed, maybe themed to a lookout point (as the adventurers were invaded by pirates) and have a small drop tower in the space between the paths to accompany it.

    • @PrengineBudoz
      @PrengineBudoz 8 месяцев назад

      Yes, it would really aliviate the main path! Thing is I wanted to focus on other parts of the park to change a bit on the decoration theme and not get stuck in the same theme, but yeah, you're absolutely right. I am planning on adding some pathway behind the chair swing and the carousel at some point, but I also wanna focus a bit more in other parts of the park. Thank you for the input!

    Could you still add a strata coaster in your park.

  • @Daniel_Coasters
    @Daniel_Coasters 9 месяцев назад

    You should make a swinging mine train coaster. It’s pretty low capacity but if you make it have about 4 trains with 20-24 riders per train idk maybe it can go through a descent amount of people. Planet coaster’s lateral forces are the same in no limits, I’m pretty sure. Not sure about uhm vertical and negative. Cause it’s measured on the front row.

    • @PrengineBudoz
      @PrengineBudoz 9 месяцев назад

      I'd love to add a swinging mine train, but I'll have to see how I implement it and in which part of the park. As for the forces stuff, yeah, it's the same as in No limits, but you have more control over there with the forces cause you can see them as youre building the coaster and you don't need to test it to see the forces, and there's also programs like FVD that work with vectorial force designs which are much more realistic, that's what I mean with the whole "I don't pay that much attention to laterals in this game".

    None of the staff can pass beyond the Park Entrance. However what you could do is create a false park entrance building your own turnstiles etc. Then move the actual park entrance closer to your spawning point. That way your engineer will be able to service your Monorail that is on the "outside" of your park when it technically isn't. Hope that makes sense. Hii, big planet coaster fan, loving your series. Just some things on my mind: 1. I really hate brakes right after the drop (wing coaster) and feel like i would redesign that part, i also like when coasters/rides are interacting with each other so that your coastee runs around the thrill ride. Maybe that could be one of the challenges you do, so redesign the coaster track as it got damaged by water/humidity. 2. As to make it a little more realistic, use more terrain change, so a few hills and stuff, then theme them with rocks or stuff.. 3. Not sure how interactiv you wanr your series to be, but what i loved in series from others was when they let their community build a coaster for their park and then themed it. They told what they planned on what elements etc. they wanted and then picked their favourit. Where are you from, or what parks do you use as Inspiration? Im from Germany and love Phantasialand where everything is very interlacing. Love your videos, already looking forward to the next one.

      @PrengineBudoz 9 месяцев назад

      Hi! Thank you very much for all the advice! Yeah, I don't like the brakes on the wing either, i'll have to come back to that at some point. The interaction idea is really good, I may implement that at some point, who knows! I'm from Spain, and take ideas from spanish theme parks, as well as some american ones i've been to. I also take inspiration from places like phantasialand, alton towers, etc, but since i haven't been to those places I can't take accurate pieces of information from there.
