Basically they pay much more, to look like shit.
Just like Trump and musk people that dare to be themselves always win in the end
I was men’s wear silhouettes were more experimental like this
I went to school with a guy who fuking loved Zoot Suits. I hope he owns a dozen suits now
Growing up, I heard of these suits being worn in "pachuco" style. Really interesting to see where it came from.
Sounds like your average gta 5 player leaving the pay and spray
Gotta say it as black people we dont miss
Love these vids and learn so much!
Dude this is not at áll what you think it is. This is way way way darker. I highly advise you to pull out of this subject and this side of 'fashion' before they think you are interested in becoming one of them and start approaching you. Get out as fast as you can and stay far far away grom this shit. You ahve no idea what you are dealing with. (From experience. Not hear say)
Lmaooooo
Just got some ed hardy Tees and always wearing them
Your videos are going to go big one day man. Great work keep it up!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching, Jack 🙏
Pretty gross if you ask me
I want one
fucking bladee jumpscare
U got scammed dumbass
“Rooted in colonial resistance!” 😂😂😂 you people love to idealize anything black people do.
As a Congolese you just don't understand how much getting recognized for my culture means to me (good job with the pronunciation)
We start a lot of trends that are either stolen or demonized.
Alexander is a bully
Why is no one pointing out the bladee the fool shirt 😭😭😭 HOW DID YOU FIND THAT IN THE THRIFT- WHO WOULD THROW OUT THAT SHIRT???!
Did those women lie about Ian?
When life is going amazing but the red lamp starts looking weird.
Disturbing?
It is fine people in Congo wearing variation of this. I seen some of my uncles rock this back in the day and they rocked something similar today.
I think it fits my space very well. He says while standing in front of a completely bare white wall
It's not just that one angle
When people ask why we get so upset about cultural appropriation, look at what's being said in this video. In the same fking breath my guy has explained "invented by black people out of a desire to be heard" immediately followed by "spread to non-black communities who used it as a symbol of dissent and associated it with rebellion and crime, leading to attacks and regulations against wearing it". This is why it's an issue. Because this was not the first or the last time this has happened. White people start wearing their hair afro style, dressing in First Nations jewelry, copying South Asian cultural practices and for the next 60 years in America, all those things are associated with "anti-American sentiment", crime, drugs, and rebellion. White people start wearing dreadlocks but need so much product to hold the shape, the entire style becomes associated with dirty, unwashed hippies. But black people can and in fact, *must* wash their locced hair. We don't need product, it holds itself in place. Too much product and it'll undo itself. Regular care is necessary to keep it looking good. There's a lot of appropriation conversation happening around things that are culturally sacred, but that's honestly a completely different conversation than the one we need to have about the harm we do to communities when we take the things they make them unique and act like we all own it equally, all the while using it in ways that actually demean the community. Learning about a culture only insofar as to take what they create, overuse it, attribute our own meanings over top of it, then lash out at the originators has been a rinse and repeat cycle for this specific society for way too fking long. It needs to stop. Stop using other people as a crutch to your own lack of culture. You think we haven't seen the old "Bring a black boy home to piss off daddy" trick done a million times? The ole, "Grow your hair out to rebel, then cut it short when it's time for daddy to hand you the family business" routine? Stop using other people's lives as a costume to dress up your stupid teen rebellion phase then turning around and attacking anyone "still doing it" as a _stupid child_ because that's the only reason you can imagine someone doing/wearing/listening to that. There's no goddamn reason why black boys in New York needed to get attacked because latino boys in LA were being targeted by LA whites. Those same latino boys were and still are not showing up to support black rights or causes. Latinos for Trump voted to have themselves and their families deported rather than support a black woman for leader. This is and was, very much _not_ an intersectional issue. Those weren't pictures of all the black community of LA wearing zoot suits. Palm coloured people are happy to take up our styles, but not our causes or our labels. You've never heard someone gets so virulently angry as a dark skinned latino telling you exactly how Not Black™ they are if you should ever foolishly imagine they were one of yours in any way. Straight up, if you tell a white person "you're basically black" that's like the highest compliment you can give them, because they take it to mean "You have a soul and aura of creativity, wisdom, and outright _coolness_ unlike any of your own community possess" while 99.999% of Latinos will hear: "Well, you're basically just a fiesta negro 😒" and absolutely be pissed about it. .001% is aware of and accepts their actual black heritage despite having to deal with their racist relatives OR is white enough to wish for a little bit of that Kardashian "I'm not black but I'm gonna use them for my fame and fortune" seasoning. So no, nobody gets a pass here for just "Not being white", especially when some of y'alls communitues are working so hard overtime tryna get that "Basically White" card that the Irish and Italians managed to wrangle over time. Like let's be fr. Plenty of people around the world are _begging_ us to appreciate their cultures and try their things. Why is it only important to us to grab hold of the things they don't actually want us taking, and "making it our own"??? Just leave it. Or at least, don't take it just to turn around and use it to insult, harass, and harm the people you're taking it from. Pay people for their art instead of stealing and copying it. Give credit to the originators instead of trying to take credit as the "discoverer". We're just so sick of people "discovering" things we've been doing forever, gentrifying it, then making it unaffordable for us to keep doing it. Making it a crime somehow. Like........ just stop.
How about today? What wearable items/clothing/jewelry/hair originally from minoritized cultures are seen as negative by the dominant majority at large? It seems we’ve become a lot more accepting of different variations of dress compared to the 20th century.
Everything is political and fashion very much so, thanks for this vid❤
The disgustingly boring white e-jip should be repainted
In one of my favorite pictures of my father he's rocking a Zoot.
