If you lodge under a different occupation then you will need to get a seperate skills assessment. Hi, thank you for reaching out. You essentially have a few options dependent on your circumstances. 1) If your occupation is still on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) then you can apply for a Skills in Demand Visa to reach the two-year mark. 2) If your occupation has been removed from the list and is not on the CSOL but you earn over $135,000 then you can still apply for the Skills in Demand Visa through the Specialist Skills Pathway. 3) Under the new changes, ALL full-time work experience in your current occupation will count towards PR irrelevant of the employer you worked for. Therefore, if you have a total of two years full-time experience in the last 3 then you will still be eligible for PR. Hi, you don't need to apply for the 180 days - Once your employer has terminated your employment and notified the department you are free to engage in employment with different employers across any occupation.

Hi Beena, good question. Generally speaking you need to have been living in Australia for 4 years and have held a PR visa for the last 12 months before you apply.

Thats correct! This will greatly benefit international students who complete their studies in Australia as well as occupations that do not require a skills assessment. If you have an occupation/country of passport that requires a skills assessment for a 482 then nothing changes in that regard.

Hi Priya, it is the employers discretion as to whether or not they decide to support your permanent residency applications. If they are not willing to proceed with the 186 visa, you could possibly explore independent options i.e. 189/190. Alternatively they could sponsor you for an additional 482 if they would like to retain you as an employee but are uncertain about PR right now. I hope that helps

Also the Employer Sponsored subclasses provide more certainty opposed to going down the independent/state sponsored routes. Hi, great question. The department allow you to apply for the 186 TRT visa 3 days before the 482 expires. This essentially gives you a 'grace period' to avoid having to apply for an additional 482 visa in order to meet the 2 year mark. There are a number of boxes you need to tick to ensure you meet the relevant eligibility criteria with these time frames.
