This channel aims to explore and learn about music of other cultures in brief yet comprehensive videos. I find it extremely interesting to learn about history and culture of the world. Cultural music and dance of peoples translates to values, traditions, and modern-day influences. Not everything will be discussed about each country, cultural group, or instrument, so feel free to add what you know in the comment sections or leave feedback in an email!

Hello! This is a short clip from my longer video about Ukraine. Please check out my channel to see if my video "Unique Ukrainian Music" is accurate.
Thank you for making this video! You have very smooth transitions
Thank you very much!

No tourist usually destroy the chain dance. Most of the time on Ólavsøka.
Спасибо! Такое информативное видео!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! We are visiting Greenland next week!
Wow sounds like the lyrics
Eivor rocks!
As a Polish speaker I find it hard to focus with Polish songs playing in the background, because my mind understands the lyrics and doesn't want to process English at the same time. This is a peculiar feeling I didn't know before. Thanks for making a video about my culture.
I also struggle to read while listening to music with words, so this makes sense to me! Thanks for your comment! I traveled to Warsaw last year and I hope to go back soon!
Liked the info on the white voices & bandura players. You should add pause so you can her just a few seconds of them.
The full video of them singing is linked in my description if you would like to watch the full thing, and I will have more bandura music in my instrumental video coming soon!
I feel like the Greenlanders learned a lot from Erik, don’t you?
do you have the music by chance? i kinda want to learn it
I actually used a Hal Leonard book of Hamilton songs and then played the vocal parts on my recorder. It's in C minor if that helps!
The Tvísöngur is still very commonly heard even in modern Icelandic music and I didn't realise it until I watched this video. Also Lofsöngur means something like "Song of praise"
Thanks for your comment! Are you from Iceland?
Great video!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Finding sources on Icelandic music history is not easy, I'm impressed that you managed to put this together. I'd like to add a couple of things. Rímur was not the only vocal music, there was also tvísöngur and þulur and lots and lots liturgical songs. Vikivaki, also knows as sagnadans, is analogous to the ballad tradition in the rest of Europe and the dancing in the video is based on the traditions but with some extra choreography.
Thanks for your comment! This was the very first video I ever made and I don't remember why I started with Iceland. I'd like to go back and reupload better videos of my earlier ones with more information. Thanks again!
Are there any opera companies or choirs in Greenland?
Yes! The Greenland national choir is called Erinarsoqatigiissuit which is made up of multiple groups that sing in the traditional style! I have a link in the description of this video if you'd like to check that out!
@@exploremusic2182 Traditional Greenlandic style or classical opera style?
@@mynewyork165 Oh I misread the word opera when I read your comment. I did not found anything on opera in Greenland, but very much in the traditional style! It would be interesting to find!
Nice, informative video! I love Iceland! Also, I have a video request for you. Can you make a video about the history of music from the Caucasus region?
Hi thank you for your nice comment and request! I would love to get to that region's music! Currently I am working on a video about Ukrainian music. I am excited to get to make more videos soon. Stay subscribed!! ❤❤
Imagine not being able to hear the instrument.. in the video about the instrument.
Hello! Is there a part of the video that is hard to hear the instrument?
@@exploremusic2182 yeah, there is good detail explanation but little shown of the instruments.
@@ryushogun9890 I do not own many of these instruments, but in the description, there are some links to find videos of people playing them! Hopefully those will help you find more of a specific instrument you are looking for. My aim was to inform about the instruments that originated from Germany. Hope this helps.
In other words: There's no way that Greenland is a genuine traditional culture. It's just derived from Catholicism.
I would argue that Greenland has a traditional culture from the Inuit natives and the Danish Lutherans. A lot of Scandinavian regions have Catholicism as an influence, but Greenland has its own distinct languages and traditions. How would anywhere have its own genuine traditional culture if we are all derived from others?
@@exploremusic2182 You have a very good point. I therefore adjust my comment: Greenland has a merged Inuit and Christian culture. And your question surely remains open.
👍✌️🌹🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I just discovered your channel and I love it! Thank you for the amazing work - you should totally do an option episode together with Geography Now. I'm sure the Barb will be impressed by your videos lol

Of course! Many people do not know about the Faroe Islands, but the culture and history is very lovely!
@@exploremusic2182 Yes thank you and i hope this gets to more people
This helped a lot I’ve been researching a lot about Greenland,Iceland, and a bit of Alaska for a project I’m working on and the music has been the hardest part
I’m glad this video helped! I will eventually get to native Canadian and north American music! Stay subscribed! ❤️
Also, I have a video about Icelandic music if you'd like to check that out too! :)
I did not know the French horn is not French lol And I thought the human less wind harp to be kinda interesting 🤔 because I would totally just call that yard art and not an instrument but I do love the sound of my wind chimes 🎶
Hello, aankju maach for your film, God 💖 blessing you 💖. Have a nice day. Bye .
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I’m grateful for a channel like this. It’s hard to explore music with that you don’t know exists throughout the world. After all we are One world. Thank you
Thank you for your comment! I felt the same way before starting this channel. I've learned so much and still have so much more music to explore!
It is do horrifying that these pagan missionaries brought Sunday worship of the sun god to Greenland. Christ, Apostle Paul and Apostle John kept worship on Saturday. These missionaries and Hans Egelde were false prophets deceiving Greenlanders.
would like to see the traditional dances and the annual festivals and folklore.
Greenlandic tradition has an interesting merge of Native Greenlandic religion and Lutheran Christianity from the Danish.
thanks for the video!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@@exploremusic2182 I needed it for a project for school and this taught me everything I needed to know
Wait this is unironically good
Sweet!
Underrated. That’s it. This is iconic.
This one has been the hardest because of the key
Oh no they're back
Okay but this hasn't gone far enough. I demand a version where the instrumental is also recorders.
