Just a compilation of all the footage I have for Wyll from the Early Access version of Baldur's Gate 3. Unfortunately, I didn't get everything, but this is what I have. There are many things similar to the full released game, so spoilers! Timestamps below. 00:00 Introducing Wyll 00:14 Meeting Wyll 08:17 Arabella 08:40 Sickened by the Parasite 09:10 Raphael 10:35 Flaming Fist 13:41 Goblins 20:28...
Juuzou Fuwa - Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
Просмотров 29 тыс.9 лет назад
There are all these videos out there for Deker... and not enough for this badass. So I decided to make one! I am a huge fan of Juuzou, and I dedicate this video to him! The video clips are not mine, nor is the music. The music is called Darkest Hour by Daniel Lenz Music, and this is the character of Juuzou (or Juzo) Fuwa from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. There are some spoilers in the video! Hope...
I'd like to know why they changed him. He was so much more interesting. It's not Theo Solomon's voice, it's his direction!! Poor Wyll is as dry as a leaf on the ground.
I'll play devil's advocate (ha-ha) and go against the grain. I prefer the ideas of the current Wyll more than those of EA: simply because EA Wyll has a lot (too much?) in common with Astarion and Gale, I think it would have been redundant in the game to have another character who deals with deep traumas (like Astarion) or with a female villain who has chained him and with a dark side (like Gale). I like that, together with Karlach, he has become a more "quiet" character in the middle of a mentally messed up party. I also like that with the full-release Wyll they wanted to (at least in theory) address the father-son relationship and the relationship with one's true Self (or the true, human Wyll) and with the external mask (the Frontier-Blade with inhuman standards), and how the latter can suffocate the former. It would have been nice to delve a bit deeper into Ulder, always on the subject of the father-son bond: from some descriptions of objects and diaries, the idea was that Ulder wanted to be a good father to Wyll, but the loss of Francesca (his wife and Wyll's mom) and coming from a poor and unloving father doesn't help Ulder to become one to the full extent (a good dad, I mean). There is no need for there to be something excessively dark behind every change, after all, even Faerun is full of good people and without huge traumas. The only thing that makes me sad is that Larian decided this direction too late and had to rush the development of the new Wyll: if the change had been taken in time, they would have had more time to develop these ideas properly. PS. I also think that Wyll's two central themes could be linked: would he try to be the Blade of the Frontier, willing to sacrifice himself even in a toxic way, because he subconsciously only wants the affection of the only family he knows, his father? If so, it would have been nice if the end of his quest was him realizing that "ok, dad loves me because I'm his son, even if he has a hard time showing it. My friends love me because I'm Wyll: I like being good and doing good, but if it hurts me it's no longer okay". PPS. Since there are so many people out there who appreciate EA Wyll, I wonder: if a good portion of the fanbase appreciated it, then why was it changed?
I never played EA, and Wyll is still my fave companion post-EA/whatever the current version is called...but damn, this is a really interesting route for him. I feel bad for the VA, it sounds like he was having a blast performing Wyll.
Roadman wyll
Some of the actors took a long time to grow into their characters - brutally honest but I hate how Wyll and Laezel are voiced here but in the release versions I think their actors did an outstanding job. The goblin at the windmill and Raphael sounded amazing already. I'm no actor but I guess it can take time for you to resonate with your character or even for the direction to point you in the right way, if that way is even decided at that point.
God I wish we'd gotten this Wyll. Such an interesting guy.
I prefer new Wyll's VA. But the rest was better in EA. Well, we can thank sensitive USA citizens for the downgrade.
My god he has so much personality here. WTH happened that made them change him so much?
And when I say personality I don't mean with the voice acting. I mean Wyll himself. He seems a lot more outgoing and personable here.
If you read an old comments many people the sensitive fans are the reasons why it happened
Damn, I really like EA Wyll. I know this is a super late comment, but I've been playing the game since release and while I love Wyll, I have similar issues with his character that others have. He's just underdeveloped and a little flat. I wanted to see what he was like beforehand and I really like him here. I wish we could know what they originally had planned for him!
It sounds like this Wyll’s patron is marijuana and he steals horses instead of being the Blade
What accent does this Wyll have? It sounds like a mixture of a few, I can't quite pin it down.
Would that we could have had THIS Wyll instead. Sadge. Truly, he would have been an amazing choice for a canon main character. Pulled into so many directions - the mistrust of the Flaming Fist, his hate for the goblins and his cruel streak, his desire for Mizora, the tender feelings he has for Tav - his story could have been so much more interesting. I might have to write fanfic about him lol
Red Rivals are the best and Juuzo Fuwa is one of 'em
Wow I really *really* like this Wyll waay more than the final version we got. He's much more.
wyll's "it's like i always sometimes say" here reminds me of early access wyll's "there's an old saying i just made up." i wish they had kept that version of him 😭
I like the sass and vengefulness but I do prefer the modern Wyll’s humility
they made the right decision replacing this voice
This Wyll was so much better of a character. Very sad to see the change they made
Interesting how the voice actor was playing Wyll with a much lower class accent in EA. He sounds a bit like a low class guy from Coventry instead of the rich boy speaking RP like he did in the main release.
How could people not like him? He's so into his own legend.
This wyll sounds ghetto. Seeing here we was born into the upper classes he wouldnt talk or act like that. Seems more like a cut throat/pirate here rather than the son of a duke.
Thats Kamen rider 555 Guy!
Oh my dayss bruv, mindflayers innit
I don't like his voice but the mannerisms and personality is perfect. I would've used him more in my party if he acts like this in the game
It's so bizarre to me that Wyll was so disliked in early access, and honestly it definitely feels like racism played into it. Shame on Larian for giving in and changing Wyll so much.
I find Post-EA Wyll much better tbh. EA Wyll was just too tropey for me.
what mods are you using for your Tav??? they're so gorgeous omg
i miss chaotic good wyll :(
shart and astarion fusing in the background really adds to this
if he was like this AND white, it would've been so much better
Wow, he has so much much spiky character here. I like regular wyll, but this one has certainly more layers
I wish I got to see the Early Access . I like new Wyll, this one is more full of himself, lol...but I wish I got to see both forms of this game.
He’s so attractive still omg
I think everyone here is just contrarian and blind. Nothing about this Wyll is particularly interesting or deep and it honestly doesn't even work that well. He feels completely disconnected from the plot, he has a terrible accent and all the "edge" he has is "muh revenge" and being less tolerant towards evil-doers (as if he isnt that still in the final game). Making Wyll the son of Duke Ravengard, making Mizora actually serve Zariel and thus add some layers to Karlach and Wyll's connection, making him a hero but also rejected and despised by the father and city he loved, those are good qualities. This plot point actually integrates him into the main plot of the game much better. The final conflict of either staying a slave to the devils or saving his father who never appreciated him for who he was had some good drama to it. I take that over generic "I was a poor thief, wanted revenge, made a deal with the devil and am a sort of fraud hero" arc. And yeah he is more straightforwadly "good" in the final game, but so what? Is there actually anything wrong with having a Good alignement character down on his luck around? He still butts heads with Astarion, he will straight up turn on an evil party that tries to raid the grove and he would go to hell itself to help Karlach by the end of the game.
This is what happens when artists compromise and pander to the vocal few. Larian should have just told their story.
like everyone else, i like this version way more because it's so fleshed out. i wouldn't mind the rewrite half as much if it wasn't so last minute and left wyll as a hollow husk of a character
People who simp over old wyll should remember his story essentially ends at "This random 15hp goblin is my mortal enemy". He was definitely improved.
This is a different VA, right? or did Theo Solomon use a different accent
yeah it is!EA wyll was voiced by Lanre Malaolu
I love the game and Larian is my favourite game studio of all time. However I really don't understand why Larian would change Wyll's character from EA to this current, to be frank, boring character he is. As we all know, flaws are what makes a interesting character, and the current Wyll have none.
I think I prefer this wyll! He’s not just a super good guy, which is boring!
So many people are saying they like this Wyll more but I much prefer the Wyll we ended up with. Yeah this one is more Chaotic and sassy, but we already got plenty of that in characters that are already widely loved. To me, this Wyll feels like a dumpster for recycled character traits and lines from multiple other characters, Astarion’s ego, Karlach’s chaotic energy, Lae’zel’s overconfidence, Shadowheart’s terrible inability to keep past secrets hidden, every time he talks I just see things from characters that we already have. The Wyll we ended up with may not have as many layers, but he feels much more all his own to me, and I like that much much more.
Early Access Wyll makes me so sad because it's very clear Larian have a bias against him. No other character would get completely scratched and rewritten right before release just to never get properly finished despite constant updates for the entire year after release. Fact he got almost 5 hours less content than other characters and hardest romance to trigger due to no scene in act 1 is hard to excuse considering how much content others got post-release and the way Theo is treated by both devs and fandom. Atp it feels like Larian regrets putting him into the game and that's depressing.
"I didn't become the Blade of Frontiers overnight" hehe
14:30 ayo??
This wyll is so cool man what the hell 😭 what did they do to him? If he stayed like this he might not ever have left my party, but as it stands ive used him for maybe 3 long rests across 5 playthroughs
justice for EA wyll. the fandom didn't like him so larian rewrote him and they STILL don't like him. (almost as if there's another reason for it 🤔)
Despite what others say I really do love the sweet version of Wyll we have now but damn I love this one so much more. Such a shame that we missed out.
I immediately loved Wyll in EA (though his introduction was where I had to stop playing bc I was on my old MacBook at the time, and it kept crashing 😭). I remember him becoming an immediate favorite, and then when I finally was able to play full release a few months later, it felt like the same vibe wasn’t there 😭 It’s a bit jarring seeing this again, now! I wish they would have kept him a bit more flawed, like this. It makes him a lot more personable!
Man I miss EA Wyll so much. His hatred and feud with the goblins just made him so much more involved with early Act 1. Plus, him being a monster hunter that still believes in the good of everyone, except for one specific race that hurt him personally, makes him SUCH a fascinating hypocrite and i would have loved to further explore this. You could either have him overcome his hatred, or use this to further corrupt him. Also, with Myzora just showing up in camp, wasn't his sending stone eye kinda useless in the final game?
There barely are any goblins post Act 1, so what would be the point of that feud? It's nice for Act 1 and then it's just nothing.
@@yoursonisold8743There are still a lot of goblins in Act 2. Imagine if you torture the goblins in Moonrise and Wyll (of all people!) approves to that. Imagine if you approve of his stance on that too much and he also does it to other "evil" creatures, like he does with Karlach at the beginning of the game. Ever heard of the trope of the too Lawful Paladin? A character so obsessed with what they believe is good that they cannot see the evil they actually cause, because they can always find a way to justify it? EA Wyll could have went down that path. "The rosd to hell is paved with good intentions" and so on. But also, on a good run, the scene where you can kill the goblins in Moonrise could have been a turning point for EA Wyll. Like he confronts you about almost blowing your cover for some lowly gobbos, and you can confront him about his prevoncieved notions about it. Or hey, that was all in EA, imagine if the time spent rewriting Wyll was instead used to improve upon his existing character and adding more stuff his worldview clashes with.
@@Ellisepha That is a tiny moment in all of Act 2. And there are no goblins in Act 3 at all. My point wasnt that you cant do something with Wyll being overly aggeessive against all evil-doers, it was that tying him so intrinsically to the goblins specifically is pointless and reeks of "we only thought as far as Act 1" writing. Which is one of the reasons they changed him.
@@yoursonisold8743 doesn't good character writing come from a collection of those tiny moments? I think it would have fleshed out the character greatly + we're talking about an early access personality that got completely rewritten, if they had kept it, there would have been more examples down the line lol
He’s less boring, more charismatic, and less robotic too.
