The patina on these cedar boards is AWESOME!

Planing some of the power pole salvage lumber and it is great! I believe these poles were put up about 50-60 years ago and the dry, windy weather that we get has given them a patina that just can't be duplicated. Gonna make some beautiful projects. Sorry for the flickering LED light issue, gotta figure out how to eliminate that. #cedar #sawmill #woodmizer #woodworker #handmadefurniture #skookum...

Day two of milling these cedar power poles. The yield we are getting is great and I can't wait to start surface planing it all and see what we can make from these beautiful boards. #Woodmizer #sawmill #powerpoles #cedar
Case Tractor 188d Project #22 The loose ends!

Wow! We're getting closer each day! In this episode we'll install the alternator, hydraulic pump, thermostat, and radiator. Sorry for the abrupt ending but this was pieced together out of a number of clips and I really didn't film an ending.
We ain't afraid of no stinking power poles!

Part one of sawing some 70 foot tall, 50 year old Western Red Cedar power poles. The lumber that came from these poles is fantastic! Only the first 10 feet were treated with creosote and insecticide, those boards will only be used for outdoor projects although the treatment only penetrated 1/2" to 3/4".

Congrats on the overhaul ,nice job ! Now get to sawing LOL.
Excellent video clip ! very thank full for imparting your knowledge as you go on your journey.
man it looks ALOT like a perkins i rebuilt for a customer - those timing cover oil pan block areas are wonderfully hard to leak proof! I recommend fords proprietary RTV they designed - its even better than permatex ultra but i guess u have it all together already. Nice looking!
hopefully you didnt bend the crank snout torqueing down with those gears forced down - nice vids wish I had time to do this :)
I know this is old but you toss the sleeves in a chest freezer then install seals and they will drop in
do you know if the engine needs to come out to get the fuel tank out on these 580ck diesel's?The fuel in mine went bad, turned to brown gunk
I'm just about done doing a 70s 350 dozer 188d in frame rebuild. head fully rebuild, cylinders, and pistons replaced. The waterpump u mentioned having an extra hole mine uses the other hole with a bolt not a stud
What rebuild kit did you buy
I bought my parts from Badger Diesel. He's a very helpful guy.
Do you know the torque specs for bolts on timing cover?? Mainly the the ones that bolt on to the head????
I don't.. They're just 3/8" standard bolts so I just tightened them down without a torque wrench
Pump needs priming.
You probably (hopefully lol) watched the next video where I discovered my injection pump needed to be rebuilt.
Thanks for the video. I will probably invest in a Ribe bit set before I attempt to dig into mine.
Excellent job , congratulations! I too appreciate your diligence in explaining in detail.
Did you run any lube when doing the cedar poles?
Just the standard mix of water and Dawn dish soap
I would love to mill all of these in a shop.
Wouldn't recommend that. The treatment is pretty strong in the lower portion of the poles.
[you're, Backhoe looks great.👍 I, just had a new replacement injection pump installed on my 1966, case 530 ck. diesel Backhoe at $3 thousand]👍🙏
Wow! $3k! I knew they were spendy!
Hi Jerry! Great to see and hear you. Will try to catch more of these videos. We just had a bunch of trees milled off our place.
[nice, looking Backhoe. i, have a 1966, case ck. 530 diesel Backhoe with a rebuilt diesel engine new replacement hydraulic hoses and new replacement diesel injection pump. new diesel injection pump $3thousand]
Love the content ❤
That feeling!!!!!
Thanks for posting these videos, Skookum. Your camerawork is great. Some guys are better at editing. I can appreciate how the disassembly videos will help you get it back together. I wish you good fishing.
I'm in the process of doing what may be an inframe rebuild on my 67 Case 580CK and was wondering where you got your piston/sleeve kit. I find your videos very informative. Thanks

I don’t have any blocks. Sometimes used engines show up on the Case Facebook pages though.
Nead help.my block in bad crack so looking second had any for sale?😊
Your okay, cam and followers are a lot easer to install without the crank being in the way
I had some real problems with the timing I didn't know it had two dots together and 1.00 fuel pump then I watch your show
Glad it was helpful. I couldn't have done it without help from other youtubers as well!
I'm working on a Case 4:30 I'm getting it back together I'm counting you
You did a beautiful job... I'm happy for you... I'm looking into doing the same thing to the same kind of tractor.. If its not to personal...roughly how much did it cost to rebuild the engine??? Mine is blowing blowby oil all over my hood
I honestly didn’t keep track. It wasn’t cheap, as I wanted to be thorough. If you don’t have any lower end issues and just need to hone the sleeves and rearing it you can probably do it for under a grand.
Hello from Blackhawk co.
I just became a subscriber today because I'm working on what looks like the same tractor.. I replaced all the fuel filters, and it never ran again.. I hired a shop to look at it, and they said my injector pump died??????
Well, if you watch my videos you’ll see that once I had my engine done, it wouldn’t start. The injection pump had been working fine but after sitting wouldn’t work. There are several components in the pump that can stick and cause it not to work-the pump pistons, the little check valve spring assembly, etc. I rebuilt mine and it fired up. There are videos on everything step in my playlist. Did you bleed your injector lines at the injectors?
What were the filter part numbers? I’m working in a 1966 530 CK.
I can't find the primary cartridge number but the Case number for it is A35863. Your Napa store can cross reference that. The Napa Gold number for the secondary filter is 3165.
had the same issue with the search for an o ring finally did the same as you and put the old one back in. but I did make this realization. If that o ring leaks at all it just allows oil back into the oil reserve. so the pump will still deliver most of the oil to the system but may just leak a little back. at least thats my thought.
The gear on the cam shaft runs the tach on newer models.
Yes. I have the Case 207d, and it runs the tachometer.
Congrats you did a great job and i appreciate you documenting everything so well
Thanks for watching
Love your work keep it up, question thou? Not sure on the thought process at 2:58 on oil pump teeth clearance. how is the gauge set up measuring the clearance between the crest of the tooth on the crank and the gear valley on the pump (or vise versa )? I just use a feeler gauge between them at point of contact. am I seeing things wrong? Thanks I love your videos and they have been very helpful
I was only trying to measure backlash. Honestly, I didn't even check clearance.
i'm losing ps fluid how else can i tell if it gets into the crankcase and how does it also get in there newtohoedude?
If it's ending up in the crankcase, it must be leaking through the pump shaft seal. I don't know how to tell if it is getting in the crankcase other than your oil level would rise.
i had to weld a nut to mine after it broke and take it out with a socket
Yeah, I tried it but I’m a poor welder and couldn’t get it to hold!
Im slowly making my way through this series, you were very thorough. It’s impressive! You should add “case 188” somewhere in the title, I searched lots of videos on 188/207 rebuilds and none were as thorough as yours. But I only found yours when finally searching case tractor, hunting some non engine knowledge. Also you did right by not opening the oil pickup any further. If your 530 is like my 580, that pickup floats. If you open it, there’s no air sealed in it to keep it floating. Again, great content you made here!
Good idea about the title, I may go back and add that. Glad the videos are helping you. Thanks!
great video! where did you find seat cushions, they look great?
I forget now bit I believe it was Yesterday’s Tractor.
Good looking Case!
Mine injection pump has those one piece vane pump blades. Having a heck of a time getting it running despite going through it in the most meticulous way. Just not getting pressure. Tracture was running before and then just died while running. It had the rubber/plastic thing on the weight wheel, at one time but it was completely gone. I replaced it with the one piece wheel.
Thanks for the videos. You have bailed me out a few times on things I've encountered on my rebuild.
That's awesome! I couldn't have done it without the videos that others posted before me.
Showing my video
Sir this looks like a pre 1965 case 530 construction king diesel . This that correct? The date is because the regular 530 tractor switched injectors from your type in 1965. I am getting a gas 530 CK soon so this really helps !! B
According to the serial number it appears to be a 1966 but it may have been late 1965
I did 1 power pole. With a carbide blade. Made beautiful lumber
Excellent result!
thank you!
Ouch... Easily done, from what I've heard...
Yeah, it didn't happen on any of the videos that I watched but I have seen comments from people who did break them. The right tool MAY have avoided it, not sure.
@@skookumsawmilling7653 I've been told that even with the correct tool it can sometimes break.
@@Tubroos_Bz I believe it!
I was holding my breath with that flange in the vice, they just look so fragile.
Yeah, it would be better to have a plate to bolt it to and clamp that in the vise. But it actually felt plenty stout and you definitely don’t want to clamp the body in the vise!
I can’t remember the exact size but you’re supposed to use torx bit and before you try to loosen it strike the bolt with a hammer just a good jar , good luck
No, it's not a torx bit. It's called a Bristol bit. They sell them for about $40! I'll take my chances with an Allen wrench, lol! It was just ridiculously seized.
Sounds like you have an exhaust valve leaking. Hopefully it is just a spec of trash or tight adjtment?
Could be. Obviously that was a cold valve set. I'll rerun them after I fire it up.
very entertained to see and happy
nice job looking forward to hearing her run
Shouldn’t be long now. Started on the complete wiring harness yesterday.
