Installing gauges in the MK2 Golf (vacuum gauge, oil pressure, voltage) | Golf, Jetta
In this video I show you how I installed my gauge cluster with a vacuum gauge, oil pressure gauge and voltage gauge, as well as how to install the oil pressure sender needed to run an oil pressure gauge. This video applies to all VW MK2 cars like the Golf, Jetta, Corrado and Scirocco, and probably also MK1 and MK3 cars.

In this video I show you how I installed bonnet lifters for my MK2 Golf bonnet. For me it was a super easy plug and play install, but there may be differences for right hand drive Golfs or later models. Mine is a 1984 1.6 petrol left hand drive, so CE1 19E. I got mine here: www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/wc823fkhl17-bonnet-lifters-finished-in-chrome.html Official instructions here (includes dri...
Installing a short shifter on the MK2 - MK2 Golf, Jetta, Corrado, MK1, MK3
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.11 месяцев назад
A short shifter install can be done in 5 minutes and costs only about €30. It's a mod well worth doing! This short shifter can be installed on any vehicle with an 020 gearbox: VW Golf MK2 and MK3, Jetta, Corrado and maybe MK1, I'm not sure about the MK1 as there's also a different short shifter available specifically for MK1s and the Scirocco, but that's also for the 020 gearbox so I don't know...

      Well worth it in my opinion! If you really want to do it justice, get a weighted shift rod and do a complete gear shifter linkage rebuild! Makes the shifting feel like a new/modern car

      I got the vacuum gauge from a local auto part store, you should be able to find one by googling. Make sure it's a vacuum gauge and not a boost gauge if you don't have a turbo. The oil pressure and voltage gauges I got from werk34.de

    BTW dude dont use a car cover , even if its waterproof it will trap moisture from the air under it and cause mold paint to sweat. oh and we changed the spring on my bnnet latch in an earler video. i can drop the link if you want

    • @1600GL
      @1600GL 8 месяцев назад

      Oh sweet yeah that link would be helpful! I actually thought about that with this car cover at first too but this cover seems to breathe very well. I tested it by spraying the car with water first and then putting the car cover on immediately afterwards (so with the car wet) and after a few hours the car was completely dry. Also even after 2 weeks of really heavy rain (average Dutch weather) it was completely dry! It's also just for 3 months only in winter when I don't drive it and I take the cover off at least once a week so any moisture that would be under it probably evaporates in that time too so I think it should be good.

      Yeah I heard about those too, haven't found one I want to try yet though. If you happen to find one I'd be interested to know where you got it from and what it did for you! I'll admit this short shifter does make the shifting itself feel just a bit more rough but my bushings are almost worn out anyway so I'm gonna replace them soon, I think that will make it a lot better. All that to say that it's probably best to do this mod in combination with a bushing repair if you want to best results. Thanks for your comment!
