      Thanks for the comment/question! I use a GoPro Hero4 camera with this cable tinyurl.com/2hh38pwn If you have a Hero 5/6/7, this one works: www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/nflight11-14875.php For mounting GoPro/camera inside rental planes, I use a collapsible/adjustable shower curtain rod from the dollar store placed between the floor and ceiling inside the plane between left and right seats with the bottom placed just behind the fire extinguisher. Something like this www.amazon.ca/Tension-Shower-Curtain-Adjustable-Extendable/dp/B07J4WQW5R I used this www.amazon.ca/dp/B0789LSSL1/ref=pe_3034960_233709270_TE_item GoPro handlebar mount on the curtain rod clamped around the ceiling end of the curtain rod. Hope you to can post some video!

      Exactly right Andrew! From the dollar store! The rental planes don't have camera/GoPro mounts in the ceiling so I just pop this in to the plane between floor and ceiling. I used this $21 GoPro handlebar mount on the rod: www.amazon.ca/dp/B0789LSSL1/ref=pe_3034960_233709270_TE_item

    Hey, I just did my soft field and short field takeoff and landing lesson the other day!

    • @LevantTinaz
      @LevantTinaz 3 года назад

      Nice! Soft is a bit tricky, getting just the right balance! One lesson was minutes long because on takeoff, attempting soft field, too much yoke and BOOM; tail strike!! Argh!! LOL Fortunately no damage and I learned good lesson, be gentle on yoke and SLOWLY on the throttle. Every flight now, first thing I check when getting to the plane is, did the last guy have a tail strike (check the tie-down eye hook bottom of tail) and once I reported it had!

    why are you wearing a full respirator while alone in a plane. Id bet my life you pee sitting down...

    • @LevantTinaz
      @LevantTinaz 3 года назад

      Hi Andrew. No, I never wear a mask while flying solo now. I only wear that when in the confined space of a C172 for long periods with my CFI BUT he recommended for my FIRST solo not to change ANYTHING; safer to keep things EXACTLY as on previous flights he thought which seemed wise advice! Main reason I use that (Honeywell 7700) is that it is VERY comfortable, 99.97% effective (a.k.a. N100 vs. N95!), easier to breathe in than even a surgical and most importantly, DOESN"T fog up my glasses! I found, as others have including some CFIs, most masks will cause fogging due to breath escaping, even a little bit, up the top but not with this one.

    Hey Levant, many thanks for posting this. I modified two Protec helmets today and they turned out great. A couple of tips someone may find useful: * If you need to drill out a rivet, replace it with a Chicago screw. See Amazon for the screws. * I used fingertrapped red 900 lb dacron instead of wire. * On a Protec, you only need to drill one rivet on the helmet. No drilling needed on the quick release. * Having a sewing machine is really convenient but hand stitching will work.

    I did see the newer one and don't think it looks anywhere near as good as its predecessor. They are both the same price from the uk suppliers. Being the older version there aren't many facts about it and whenever you look it up it normally points you toward the rev2. Thanks again.

  • @syzcrisp

    Hi Levant. Nice video. I just ordered the same helmet and was wondering what audible altimeters it is compatible with. Are there just pockets for speakers or does it have another compartment to store an alti in it somewhere? Thanks in advance.

    • @LevantTinaz
      @LevantTinaz 8 лет назад

      +London Blade Thanks London! The newer Rev2 is a big improvement over the Rev which I used in the video. The older Rev has a large rectangular pocket in the inner foam on both sides where you can store an audible altimeter. The pocket easily fits an Optima II which is what I use. The depth of the pocket is fairly shallow, enough for an Optima II but anything thicker would protrude to your ears and might be uncomfortable. The Rev2 has deeper pockets with clear windows that may allow you to see the audible from the outside but I haven't seen pictures of what it actually looks like. The picture here clearly shows the large rectangular pocket on the outside: www.boneheadcomposites.com/m8/1001--rev2-full-face-helmet.html
