I don't like it. For One: VRchat said they wouldn't keep the information but then they changed their mind and said they will use the information to keep you banned. So if you get banned and your id comes up again they will ping it and use that to ban any future accounts. I don't like that. In extreme cases sure if someone is being a pedo or a moron who is constantly flashing their junk in public then yea. Otherwise, people have been banned just for having a NSFW avatar or making a nsfw asset. So those people should be forever banned? No. And the fact there is a verify system means people are doing 18+ stuff, so unless they decriminalize 18+ actions. I just don't agree with them holding on to the info except in extreme cases. Two: I do not like giving my ID or face to any company. Not even my BANK requires that. Like what the hell? Companies can be hacked and the info can be leaked publicly. Plus let's be real, IF you do 18+ stuff on VR. Do you really want you FACE or your real ID linked to that account??? They need a better system and any group that has that can miss with that requirement. If you run a group just ban the squeakers or have a team of members, who you trust is gonna burn the information, verify a CENSORED ID mainly showing your date of birth and call it a day.

Don't care, didn't ask. People out here minmaxing bio's and status on a virtual platform to "make friends". These are online lads, you're here for a laugh and a chat, not to browse the social market like I go window shopping. Instead of taking everything so serious, go ahead and approach people, be charismatic, grow out of your shell. Sitting there like lost duckling waiting for somebody or anybody to approach you is the fastest way to get depressed and hope that life throws anything and everything at you, basically wasting the time you spent online. I am in VR to hang out with people, if I need social interaction I go ahead and get some and try to talk with people first. If I don't need any and am just relaxing or hanging around, I don't expect people to come up to me with interest. There is times where I am just silently observing the people around me instead because it's fun to see how some act. Really I can't stress this enough man, I've spent years on VR myself, forcefully trying to make people approach you is the fastest way to get you self-conscious and realize nothing comes from nothing. A bio won't trigger anybody approaching you unless they need something or anything (for example when you are a 3d artist.) People are self centered, they all expect you to approach them and if everybody is just sitting there waiting to be approached, we all end up alone and depressed because nobody does. Join a group, look for a couple people chatting about a topic you like and join the conversation, if they get uncomfortable, read the room and look for other people. It really isn't that hard man..

Most people I spoke to never even check bio's which was odd to me. I have one, but the amount of people that never check it is crazy. I made mine look nice to look at to keep engagement up using ascii characters and stuff but generally it's mostly shy/socially anxious people to look at bio's which is not a problem, I just wish more people would look at the effort I spent into it.

I agree with most of your points, but I HEAVILY disagree in regards to your opinion of putting hardware in your bio. People ask me frequently what I use for FBT, for example, so I have that in my bio. People who are curious about PCVR are sometimes curious how powerful of a PC they need, which is why I have my specs there, too. It's to help those out who want to improve their own setup or are curious.

You can texture multiple materials at once with UDIM. You'll need to make a seperate version of the mesh where everything uses one material and the UVs are laid out in a grid

This was exactly what I was looking for! I'm pretty proud of my bio's first rendition, but I needed to add some serious about-the-player info to answer common questions I've been getting. Very informative video with wonderful explanations. Reworking my bio as I write this!

This was a very informative and solid video. I’ve been on the platform for about four years now, and I still feel as if there are ways I can tinker and rework my bio. Thank you, 20nik. We should meet up sometime in vrc.

I don't want to do it through Persona because they've CURRENTLY in 2 lawsuits for misusing data they collected from people doing age verification (see: Johnson et al v. Persona Identities Inc. (1:24-cv-11249) and Washington v. Persona Identities, Inc (3-24-0210)). Like, I don't trust them if they have a history of abusing the information they need to complete the verification even if VRChat doesn't get any of it apart from a hash and my name. If VRChat added other vendors that didn't need me to include things like address, license ID, conditions, etc. just the date I'd be okay with it but Persona seem to be asking for unmodified IDs. I hope they either change it or add other options like signicat/stripe who also do age verification. But hey, I guess I'm literally Epstein for saying I don't want to do it through Persona. :(

VRChat age verification sounds good and all, and if it was done in collaberation with the gov (seeing as they're handling real IDs) then it'd be ideal for all 18+ instances and users, but if you care in any way about your personal data, then just simply avoid it lol, allowing a non-governmential company to store and sell your ID info is madness imo I don't get why people seem to recklessly throw their data out like it's not something that can be life-threateningly used against them by any old Joe if a data breach was to occur, and due to the ToS waiver, you can't sue them either if it did happen, people seem to believe that just because they're a very rich and large company it immediately makes them trustworthy, but it just ain't like that at all, gotta read the fine print

Yeah unfortunately it will be "mandatory" to play once it's given to all groups that want it. I see most instances just being for age verified user. Making the game unplayable for those who chose to not hand over all their personal information to a "trusteed source" to verify. You also really shouldn't need a selfie/face scan. And you shouldn't have to show your entire ID. Date of birth and your ID picture should be enough.
