Просмотров 145 тыс.Месяц назад
This is a run down on the various gear levers found in Unimogs. This is in a Unimog U1450 with working gears and creeper gears. It also includes 2 speed PTO and 4 circuit hydraulics.
UNIMOG TIRE CHAINS
Просмотров 6797 месяцев назад
This video is about various tire chains for Unimogs and tractors. These are all chains I use to go through deep snow when plowing or snowblowing or taking the Unimogs on trails in the winter. I regularly drive in 2 feet of snow on steep hills with the chained Unimog. April and I was going to take my chains off but we are getting 2 ft of snow which reminded I made this video a while ago and neve...

This is a brief demonstration on starting a U1300L in 10F or -12C cold weather. This was a stock U1300L with average batteries.

Starting a Unimog U1200

This is a short video on how to start and stop a mid 1980's municipal spec Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1200. This particular Unimog was set up with a plow and sander and is on it's way to Maine.
UNIMOG U1300L Ambulance Test Drive
Просмотров 162 тыс.4 года назад
This is a quick test drive in a Mercedes Benz Unimog U1300L Ambulance. It shows how to start and stop a German Army Spec Unimog. It also shows what it is like to drive a Unimog on the road. This Unimog was going out to a customer and I wanted to give him a quick idea of what to expect. I thought I'd just share it it with everybody.
Kalahari Elephants

Driving in the Kalahari Desert in Botswana in a Unimog U1300L. We followed a "trail" that no longer existed so the beginning is us actually getting on the "road" after bushwhacking. Elephant dung really does burn and makes a great fuel source.
black cotton mud

Unimog U1300L in East African Black cotton. This is some of the slipperiest stuff to drive on. The Unimog was in high demand for recovery and few Land Cruiser or Land Rovers made it far.
Mt. Kenya with a Unimog
Просмотров 33 тыс.9 лет назад
This was driving a Unimog U1300L up an old access road on Mt. Kenya. We got up to about 12,000 feet. It's steeper than it looks, very wet and the mud is extremely slippery. We stayed on the old road until it got grown in and decided to turn back instead of driving on grown in tracks. The smoke from the Unimog is because of the high altitude.
S Sudan Traffic Jam

This is a S.Sudan traffic jam. Some of these vehicles were there for more than a week and some will be stuck for several weeks until the ground hardens up. Unimogs, motorcycles and tractors are the only vehicles that even have a chance of making it through. Filmed from the inside of a Unimog.
Unimog U1300L in African mud

Unimog U1300L in black cotton mud. This area is impassible in Land Rovers, Land Cruisers and even most 4x4 tractors.
Back in the 80's and 90's I regularly drove UNIMOGS. They have got to be the best wheeled cross country vehicle that I have ever driven. The UNIMOGS that I drove did not have synchronised gearboxes, they had crash gearboxes. That means that you have to double declutch.
Not sure why RUclips shoved this down my throat on my feed for weeks on end. Watched it, still don't get what it's trying to say. There's an annoying amount of shifting in some machines? Is that some 'deep' reference to how people don't like shifting? How there are people who normally shift a lot? What are you trying to tell me, Algorithm? What even was the point of having me watching this video? I feel like this is yet another "You should get this"-video where I'm supposed to catch a hint that's just in the corner of my eye or else something bad happens to me. F*ck, just tell me, I never get these and striving never goes anywhere. Show me what the reward is, make it easy for me to do it, then I'll do it. If not, damn you and your nature. Sick evil double binds. Ugly nonsense. Oh, there are people who have made something ridiculously complicated and sold it for money! People do get appreciated when they're complicated and weird! Wow! But I don't, so there's some message in here! Glad that I got to not see it, so I can directly move on to seeing this as a character flaw, yet not know which one, or how to fix it! Algorithm's on some kind of freemason bullsh*t or it's just genuinely dumb. F*ck you and your tests, I'm done playing a 'jump through this miniscule pinhole for the rest of your life or else'-game. It /never rewards/ and you're not gonna gaslight me into thinking it will and it's somehow just my spiritual fault and somehow my free will making me torture myself for zero reason. It never has, and I /have/ given it my all. I'm not breaking my back, my heart, my brain and my energy over every single smirky shrug that you throw at me. Guess I'll roleplay exactly what you think people like me deserve and I can become a miserable old man with lots of health problems and social problems that I could literally never have done anything about. Worthless society, worthless machines, worthless people. Goodbye once again, see you at the next perfectly aligned poetic torture sesh!
German engineering scares me.
Those gear ratios are INSANE🤣
We need this in BeamNG. But then again who has eight shifters to spare.
My dad used to call 1st gear "donkey low", and now I know where he got that from. He had experience with Unimogs in his SADF days.
love it!!!
crazy tech.....
I bet the guy to designe it went crazy.
To drive it without thinking.....go to the six month schoo😂l
I am glad it comes with an owners manual with more pages than a King James Bible 😂
That's simply an older tractors set of gears and levers, very common!
Turtle mode and rabbit mode aren’t just for ride a mowers, take a look at the throttle plate on any heavy machinery. This thing is built like a heavy machine.
This reminds me of a harvesting tractor gearbox
How many cup holders?
Bros driving a lathe
I'm confident I can now drive a Unimog, Even though I have never seen one
You wont even get it started😂. You have to press the clutch and make sure that the manual gas is open.
Epic
I don't know how to fly an aircraft, but I could certainly learn it. I don't think I could ever learn to operate that Unimog.
Kinda interesting....
Mercedes engineers were huffing some strong stuff
This is so cool
leeevers
Thanks. Now I want a Unimog.
This is in no way complicated, I promise.
This is much simpler than expected at first. Everything makes sense once you understand it
Yeah, that's ridiculous.
Any locked diff levers?
4:31 it goes faster running backwards.... That's a terrifying fact !! Love it
I can barely drive a manual. I would kill myself or everyone else on the road if I even tried to drive this. But I love this and admire anyone that can manage this system.
hahaha. definitely need a tight racing seat and harness so you don't fly out of the cab!!
It mogs other trucks
we used to have an old mbtrack at work, it had all those levers and all the instruction labels etc had worn away, it was a nightmare if you didnt know it, would only go into reverse in low range etc lol used to be funny watching new guys trying to find reverse.
❤❤
wow i drove one like it back in 2013 in Danmarkshavn
"How many gears do you want?" "Yes"
The hare & tortoise hark back to Aesop.
Those gear levers, glad the ones I drove in the army are automatics. Beast of a machine.
Wow ! What a machine,I'd love to see the inside casing of this transmision and look at the gearsIt is for sure a niece piece of engeneering.
My impression was its a click byte. Now I'm shocked. What is that, an airplane...
How to over complicate sum think 😂.
Millennials won't touch Unimog for joy ride 😂
There must be (in rough terms) about a billion parts in that transmission!
Nowadays people can't even handle manual gear😂
These are called the real machine for men❤❤❤❤
What's the difference between creeper and working gears?
How do you even keep track of that
I´m most amazed over the Start Pilot thing. I saw the chocke symbol and a "?" popped in my head because diesels have glow plugs but no choke. Would You look at that. So it´s like a wiper fluid pump for ether? Fascinating. Try to buy a bottle of ether in Germany… But our brand of starting fluid is called like that but it doesn´t contain ether anymore. When my Dad used it and I was around I was very keen on a whiff of that because it gave me a little buzz… Kind Regards
Why does this video disable my night light? Wth?
What the fuck is a leeever?
