    Honestly, I don’t catch it at the time and had to go back and look again. I put a piece in wrong on a different patterned board. It was 4 rows of 4 “S” looking columns with columns 1 and 3 facing opposite of 2 and 4. Didn’t catch it for a while. Left it cause I didn’t have another piece and it was longways, so would have been tougher take remake. So it looked like 2 columns of S’s down the middle of it with opposing ones down the sides. I ended up selling it to my hair cutter gal and just so happened that her name is Stephanie, so almost like it was meant to be.🤭. Anyway, great video with or without the mistake fixing. Nice that you had the extra piece, but then again if you hadn’t had an extra one and used the original, you could have shown how to make a slightly smaller piece work.😅

    • @EvolutionWoodworks

      If I hadn't had the extra piece I would have left the slightly shorter piece in that I ended up putting back in anyway. LOL. It all worked out in the end. Sounds like yours did too. She probably thought it was made just for her!

    Thanks for confirming that squaring the fence to the cut works, makes sense. That five cut method is above my pay grade, I understand the concept but the potential movement in the wood could negate any micro adjustment made. I’m sticking to the cut to the fence & if that fails there’s always wood filler.

      I've had it for about a year and it was down to the Jet and the SuperMax. At that time, Jet has updated theirs since, the SuperMax had several features that the Jet didn't for about the same price. Now they both have the automatic speed adjustment, INTELISAND as they call it. But the SuperMax still wins with a digital depth gauge, better sanding belt clamps that are easier to use, quick adjustment for wider stock to name a few. My Dad actually just bought the Jet and after seeing it in action I'd still go with the SuperMax. It's a nice machine but still missing some details in my opinion. Of course budget was a consideration too but if it weren't I'd go bigger. The 16-32 has worked for me and I've even done some countertops in two passes but it would be nice to have more width in some situations. Hope that helps.

      @@EvolutionWoodworks that really does help a lot.     • @EvolutionWoodworks
      @EvolutionWoodworks 8 дней назад

      IDK what Grizzly is like these days but years ago they were pretty weak on the details. My Dad and my uncle had a bunch of them and they worked but always seemed to be missing parts or hard to get adjusted perfectly. We lived an hour from the warehouse so it was easy to get but I always felt they left a lot to be desired. Again, that was 20+ years ago. Things may have changed but I never even consider them after that. Thanks for the compliments. It's a second channel for me so I have some experience but in a completely different genre. That channel never really made any headway and I've sort of left it to die but I at least got some experience and a pile of equipment to use here. I just have to keep coming up with new things to build and ways to keep it interesting. Stay tuned!

    Do you find you get a lot of snipe with your planer? I picked up that same Dewalt planer when one went on clearance at my local Lowe's but I've found I get pretty significant snipe on the infeed, I've tried leveling the infeed/outfeed tables but I can't seem to eliminate the snipe. Love your content, your videos recently came up in my suggested videos feed and I've been watching through all of your previous videos since.

    • @EvolutionWoodworks
      @EvolutionWoodworks 9 дней назад

      @iguanahotsauce I used to get that if I didn't support the board enough. I find if you lift up on the back end a bit while the first few inches feed in and again for the last few inches, it minimizes it. Having the in and out feed rollers on this stand seems to help too. And don't forget to lock the cutter head after every adjustment. Thanks for watching!

    • @douggroves1812
      @douggroves1812 4 дня назад

      Try putting two or three dimes in the center of the planner and then placing a a long straight edge on the dimes. Then level your infeed/outfeed tables. This is what dewalt support had me do and while it won't eliminate snip it does help reduce it.

    • @EvolutionWoodworks
      @EvolutionWoodworks 4 дня назад

      @@douggroves1812 Basically using the infeed table to hold up on board. I have mine set up similar but on longer boards putting some pressure on it still seems to work the best so the end going in doesn't try to lift up against guide rollers before it hits the blade.

    The cutting board turned out really nice. Well done, young man. It hits the perfect balance between not being boring, and not being an optical illusion. great work, thinking of getting this one - PROVerXL 6050 Plus CNC Router

      That looks like a great machine. I went small for the first one just to test the waters but now I'm pushing it's limits hard. The extra capacity and better design on the PROVerXL should be great. New subscriber here! Nice build. I'm definitely going to build a sled for my saw. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this.

    Tom McLaughlin on Epic Woodworking channel has a three cut method that’s easy snd accurate. I’ve had success with hard maple runners when I’m careful about getting nice straight grain. Good looking sled.

      I've seen a 2, 3 and 5 cut methods and they all work for sure. I've just always thought using the square to square things up was about as easy as it gets and wanted to put it up against the most popular, and complicated method I had seen. I've always had issues with the wooden runners in the past but honestly, this is the first year round conditioned shop that I've had so shrinking and swelling may not be as big of a deal as it was. And if you push one tight left and one tight right you should be good even if it's sloppy. The pieces that catches the t slot and hold it down are really my favorite part of the aluminum ones since more than half this sled will be off the saw if I pull it all the way back. Thanks for watching! Hope you found some value in it.

    When we moved into our current house in 2010, we got it for a steal as it was still sporting the 1961 Everything package it came with, and the first thing the wife wanted to do was gut the kitchen. She wanted to get el cheapo (read that as Designer price but Built in the Dark quality) cabinets, but I--foolishly in hindsight--talked her into me doing custom cabinets, which took me all of the first summer to complete. I kid you not, I didn't have a shoulder injury when I started that project, but I did afterwards from sanding and staining! It's now 14 years later, and I'm almost done with the last two rooms, a bathroom and a crap ton of drywall. Right before the housing market exploded here, every month it was 'We need a bigger house'. I'd look at the half finished bathroom, my shoulder would Ache, and I just sigh with anxiety. There's going to be workshop requirements at the next place; this one is still sans Manshop and everything was done outside in the Texas sun. Add: I'm a sucker for B roll. Make sure you leave that in when you elevate this channel into the 100K and above range. 😉

      @C-M-E Will do. Right now I'm just trying to to 100 subs. 100k is a distant dream for sure. Baby steps. Oh, and thanks for watching to the end! 😉

    I just got my Genmitsu 4040 pro a week ago, by the looks I have the heavier holder. Purchased the Genmitsu router and I'm debating on which spindle to use. The assembly is not complete yet. Any suggestions ?

      I had the original 1/8" spindle originally but switched to the Dewalt to get more power and move up to 1/4" bits. I have other Dewalt routers, so I went that route, but a lot of people prefer the Makita. I don't have any experience with the genmitsu routers personally, but anything is a step up from the stock unit.

      @@EvolutionWoodworks Good advice. I'm thing I'll keep the 1/8 spindle in for learning purposes and then install the genmitsu router. Thanks you've been a big help.

      @harryshaw4998 I ran my 1/8" for a while, just playing with it before I stepped up to the router. Works good for what it is. And, of course, I bought a whole set of 1/8" just before deciding to switch and never used any of them. 🤦‍♂️
