Recently, my rear valve cover started CP oil I could not figure out how to get to that. This is the fourth cam install video. I’ve watched on Victory and I have to say the most complete concise and simple to follow. I have subscribed thank you PS I only have 107,000 on my 2013 on the stock motor. I have not done cams although I wish I had of. That being said it runs great and I do have a Lloydz timing wheel. I did it last year and I had one at the rear wheel so I guess I’ve got nothing to complain about. Thanks for the video ! Ride well, and ride on!
Good info. I’ve got a 1999 Suzuki Maurader that’s been sitting for a couple of years. This is very useful for me. Thanks. 👍
I just bought a 2007Vstar 1100 it's been sitting outside for two years. It's still trying to crank over so it needs a battery and the carbs cleaned thank God for this video.
Thank you
Honestly wish this was a little slower on taking the hoses and throttle cable off.
I cannot find a magnet that will pull the cam in, where can I find one I am completely stuck on therearcam right now
The magnet I use is one I removed from a pocket screwdriver. It’s just stuck to the end of another magnet. After you find a magnet that fits inside the hole, sometimes you need to push and pull the cam a little to get the pin to wiggle out.
Wow thanks and are the Andrew 413 cams as easy to install as the Lloyds? Really good video I am subscribed
The 413 are also a drop in cam with no modifications needed to the head. So the same procedures in the video would apply.
@@brazinBrett appreciate it thanks
How much it's cost to clean carburetor
I got the same ??
Hey how many hours did you charge for this service?
Any tips on starting your own shop? Been wanting to make some money wrenching
Great tutorial! Thank you!
great video, I wish you would have showed the process for the sonic cleaning. Did you hang the carb, submerge it? What about the solenoids? Any reply or link to the process would be appreciated. My Vstar is 2002 1100.
The original video of the lower ball joint is not on your channel anymore. That’s the one I need to replace. Do you still have that video?
I just installed mine, and it sounds like it’s running off 1 cylinder, doesn’t seem like it, but it’s not snappy or anything. Any tips would be appreciated or maybe it’s just the tune I need, but it won’t even idle
Im.planning to change one as well... thinking of getting the lloydz 505 for my CC 2017... donigey buy just 1 or 2?? Sorry for my silly question... and also I got the maximus tuner and lloydz air filter and timing wheel is that ok?
typically buying a quantity of 1 from lloydz on the cams will come as a kit with both cams in it.
Ive been trying to get a shop to install some cams on my victory vision for two years and nobody in the NJ and surrounding areas will do it. Completely frustrated.
do you need the power commander if you do a dyno tune?
dyno tune is done through the power commander.
@@brazinBrett But do you need the power commander if you have it dyno tuned? good vid by the way very informative.
@@tomedwards159 Yes, The power commander is how the tuning is completed.
I want to clean my carbs with a sonic cleaner did you remove the throttle position sensor before putting in the sonic cleaner ?
Great video! I have a much older Vstar which it seems in the area I live in, nobody wants to work on it. Thanks for the info and clear instruction. I'll be tackling it soon and now I feel much more confident. 👍
How'd it go?
you cleaned the carbs and didn't flush the fuel tank...Wtf also why the fuck wasn't that ultrasonically cleaned
I did drain and flush the tank when I originally cleaned the carbs. Turned out the customer used a bulk fuel tank on their farm to fill the bike and their bulk tank was contaminated. Ultrasonic cleaning is nice if you have a large enough tank to do them, but it’s not required if you do them right manually.
How hard is to pry to split the frame. Been trying for days. Am I being too scared of it? Looks so easy when you do it. Please advise.
It should move pretty easy to begin with, but it can be difficult to get it all the way up to where a bolt will fit under the hole. If you are fighting it, something isn't right. Either you need to raise/lower the bike or need to loosen/remove other bolts.
Idk bro. Tried wheels on ground, wheels off the ground. How long is the pry bar you use? I’ve been told at least 3’. Also been told to leave the motor mount bolt. I really want to do this.
@@edgardolopez7797 i strap the rear of the bike to the lift, tire on the lift, put the jack near the rear of the engine by the drain plug and raise the front tire off the lift. i use a roughly 24'' pry bar. i also remove the 3 forward bolts on the frame plate and loosen the rear 2 on that plate but leave them in.
Got it open. Does the pin really needs to come out. Having a hard time finding a magnet to pull it out. I’m at a work stoppage right now due to that. Thanks for the help so far bro. Much appreciated.
@@edgardolopez7797 the pin must come out. The pin keeps the cam in the cam carrier.
The two items with wire connectors are not sensors, they are carb heators they are very delicate and very low torque . they will break if over torqued About $35.00 each.
I live in Germany and recently had my XVS 1100 Dragstar classic (European version of the V.Star) in the shop because live the bike in the video I had let it sit for a few years and the gas turned to slop. I had the bike towed there in order not to gunk up the fuel system with the old gas. The shop supposedly overhauled the carbs, adjusted the valves and installed a new peacock. When I picked up the bike it seemed to run pretty good, not great but good. But gradually the bike started having issues and it got to the point ( after only 600 kilometers) that I needed to drive with the choke on all the time. Long story short, i brought the bike back and explained what was happening and they told me that I was to blame because i only drove 600 kilometers in 3 months and that would cause the fuel system to gunk up again. They ended up cranking up the idle and SOLD me a can of fuel additive and told me to come back after i pushed a tank of fuel with the additive through the system. The bike still isn't running great. I would appreciate any thoughts , opinions or advice on what is going on. Thanks.
On the removal of that sensor you had to use the 10mm socket, what brand of socket did you use? None of mine 10mm, including a supposedly thin wall socket, fit in the gap between the sensor body/nut and the outside of that pilot screw cavity. I will need to get a different thin wall socket. I tried both 6- and 12-point sockets.
Wrench works best
Good job man. Thanks.
That Heinrich tank is worth north of $1800 not easy to find.
How much is the labor to install the cams?
Thanks for the upload !!
I had my carburetor cleaned and now it wont work do you think they might have installed the jets wrong?
Dude my yamaha vstar classic 1100 wont work i took it somewhere so they could clean it but i wint work no more
Hello from France. I have a small problem with the sixth gear , it jumps and I fall back to fifth under 130km/h (80 MPH) unless I keep the selector in high position with the foot . According to the dealer it would be the pinion of the 6 which would be worn and very expensive repair 3500 € 😱 . A colleague Victorien , told me that he thought that the concern came according to him from the fork and that it would be easier to change and therefore cheaper . Do you think he is in the truth ? Thank you and long live Victory, I have been in love with My Vision since May 2011. She has 66486 miles to date. Sorry for my English, but I am obliged to pass by translation it is like me, not very young lol.
Both of the options you’ve given could be the problem. Regardless of which is the problem it is the same amount of labor. Unfortunately all transmission components are installed into the engine cases before any engine parts are so it will require a complete engine removal and tear down to repair properly.
@@brazinBrett Ok Thank you very much .
Where is your shop located?
Miami Moto, He's going to clean it in his sonic tank. Did you not hear the sonic tank in his "sonic tankness" How dare you not have a sonic tank you "sonic tanker!"
Hello, is it 55 ft/p og 45?? You say 55 but it says 45…….
45
Shit, just overtorqued mine then! Just loosen up retorque at 45??
It’s probably fine. Up to you though.
Do you need to replace the seals/gaskets? I'm having this done on my 17 XC and was asked if I had them. My bike has 10k on the clock.. thanks!
The rocker cover gaskets are a single layer metal gasket and don’t typically need replaced. The only one I really recommend at least having on hand is the timing cover gasket.
This aint a clean it’s a removal
I need to see how you cleaned it man…
exactly. this was a carb removal video. there was zero carb cleaning!!!
Thanks for the Video I just installed the UD pulley this past weekend on my CC , The V 413 cams are next to be put in
Why does the cam tensioner need removed? Your not taking the chain off the upper or lower sprocket seems it maybe can be left in the bike.
Tensioners need to be removed because you are removing the cam gear from the cam. While yes, these are oil pressure driven tensioners, removing them from the engine makes your life a bunch easier when re installing the cam gear to the new camshaft.
Where’s you located??
As a pro, what was the total work time for this?
typical time spent from loading bike on the lift to test ride is normally around the 2hr mark. can be done faster, but i normally do it in 2hrs.
Great video thank you
I just installed Lloydz cams in my 2013 steel frame. It was a job, not terribly difficult but alot to do as far as dropping the engine by myself. I think it was well worth it.
I have to ride my bike about 80 miles to a shop that has a Dyno. Will the engine be ok riding it that far after I install cams? I have an RPW pipe, lloydz air filter, and lloydz timing wheel already installed. Victory XR. Thanks!
Is this the same process on the Vegas?
The actual install of the cams is the same, however the frame doesn’t separate the same so there are other things that need done on the steel frame bikes.
@@brazinBrett any helpful tips on how to do that? Looking to put the vsc/505 cams. In your opinion which do you think is better vm1/501 or vsc/505.
@@ralphparr6258 it is much easier if you remove the engine completely on steel frame bikes. I don't have any experience with the 505s
@@ralphparr6258 I put 505 cams in a 2016 Vegas 8-ball. If you have an aftermarket intake, you can remove that to get the rear valve cover to slide forward and then it will come out the side. The front valve cover will come out without needing to take anything else off. If you have the stock airbox, now would be a good time to look into getting an S&S or Lloydz intake.
@@ltennyson7573 Would you still have to try move the engine down some? I have the S&S intake so no worries there. Thank you in avance.
