    Amazing stuff man. What kind of focal reducer did you use on the v1? Just a random hobby-telescope reducer? And where did you get the 1-inch sensor for the v2?

    • @333_studios
      @333_studios 2 месяца назад

      Ah, probably the IMX 283 right? Maybe for v3 you can consider the m43 sized IMX294. I saw someone get it to work on a pi forum but unfortunately YT won't let me provide the link without deleting the comment. It was noted that a "V4L2 subdevice driver" and a "4-lane MIPI CSI" were required.

    • @teaandtechtime
      @teaandtechtime 2 месяца назад

      Ya the focal reducer is linked in my original pieca camera build documentation on teaandtechtime.com the 1in sensor is the imx283 called the “one inch eye”

    • @teaandtechtime
      @teaandtechtime 2 месяца назад

      A m43 would be cool, no available modules for purchase yet (or maybe ever) I want to keep the build fairly accessible by using things people can buy off the shelf. The pi5 version will be able to swap out different sensors for budget and availability (more modular)

    • @333_studios
      @333_studios 2 месяца назад

      @@teaandtechtimedid you mean you couldn't buy the IMX294 as an individual part? If so that's a shame bc m43 is about the most accessible, adaptable, open-source, and affordable mirrorless mount there is. Bit of a stretch, but maybe there's a way to control the focusing motors on a cheaper modern-ish lenses (for manual focus only). It's focus ring is probably just some potentiometer and another 2 of the metal contacts control the focus-motors' power. But that's just me being optimistic. Your next Peica version sounds super cool. If people can build modular cameras on a budget that would be a game changer. Lens and sensor customization? awesome.

    • @teaandtechtime
      @teaandtechtime 2 месяца назад

      You can get imx294 sensors and there is an open source pcb carrier called fourthirdseye but you need to assemble it yourself which I could probably do but those small parts are a pain to do manually. github.com/will127534/FourThirdsEye

      double check you are selecting the right units for dimension. A lot of times if someone designs something in US standard (inch) and you import it to 3d printing software to slice it, the software only can use Metric units so it results in the size of the model being reduced by 2.54 times.

    I'm trying to follow your v2 guide to recreating this aerochrome IR Filter camera, but I'm not sure how you were able to pop the Aliexpress plastic color filters out of the frames they came in... Seems like the filters are plastic but the frame is metal so I'm worried about breaking the filter before getting it out of the frame... Any tips?

    • @teaandtechtime
      @teaandtechtime 10 месяцев назад

      There should be 2 notches in the frame that is used to screw the plastic filter into it. I used a pair of calipers (very carefully) to remove mine but there are special tools you can get.

    • @josephvanas6352
      @josephvanas6352 2 месяца назад

      as mentioned unscrew it with the two notches I just used a small flat head screwdriver and unreasonable force. The IR cut filter I had came mounted without the notches so I made my own with a hacksaw. You can protect the filters with masking tape both if you need to hacksaw and if you are like me and unscrewing the retaining ring with a flathead.
