Game of Thrones first season clip from my presentation at the Toronto Renaissance and Reformation Colloquium: "'Power is a Curious Thing': Game of Thrones as a Machiavellian Mirror for Princes. Renly's question appears to be a good challenge: isn't Ned Stark's priority as Protector of the Realm to consider the good of the people and not just what is "honourable"?

too bad that renly was too ambitious aiming for the crown instead of supporting his older brother, as the greatest power in westeros he could have rule the iron throne without being a king just like tywin did back in the days

Say whatever you want about Ned despite being a honorable fool his consciousness was clean and pure. A perfect example of a man with honor althought his death was fucked.

Speak SENSE to this fool: Varys: "Should the Gods grant Daenerys a son, the realm will bleed." Pycelle: "She should die now, so that ten of thousands might live." Renly: "We should have had them both killed years ago." Littlefinger: "DO NOT FUCK UGLY WOMEN WITH OPEN EYES!!" Varys xDDD

Robert Baratheon is right to killed Daenery Targaryen and Viserys Targaryen in this scene for stablelized the throne to him, but he is wrong to treat Ned Stark as fool because he is the real fool since he didn't know who's real traitors during he's Kingship that's Little Finger, Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister.

I hated Ned for being so naive and so stupid, when he was executed, I was „sorry but you had it coming“ I hate noble people who are too honorable, they should stay in their lane. Playing the game of thrones means that you must be a dishonorable piece of shit who would throw anyone into the sea while keeping an eye on everyone, even the ravens.

Robert Baratheon is alwalysly drunk that's why he can't decide a good thing for the realm 😂 Robert is very wrong to put Little Finger than to he's Brother Stannis, since Robert didn't trusting he's Brother Stannis because Robert know that Stannis is next to him, so if Stannis killed him Stannis will be the new King, but Robert Baratheon forgot that he's real enemy is Little Finger and Cersei Lannister negotiating each other and having a bad plan. Small Council of Robert Baratheon Is 4 Functions 1. Economy 2. Granaries 3. Shipyard 4. Soldiers That's why it's 4 Councilors Person and the King only Command what he wants to he's 4 Councilors.

Robert respected eddard, he didn’t like that Ned would challenge him however he realised that he was surrounded by yes men and not loyal men, a true friend will call you out and tell you the truth so even after Ned fell out with the Lannister’s, Robert backed Ned, that’s true brother ship.

He is not alwalysly right, because the traitor after he's death are Petyr Baelish that he choosed to be on he's council even he didn't deserved to be a king councilor, he also not right to marry Cersei but he had no choice if he refused Cersei Lannister the war was not end they need to fight between Lannister and Tyrell in the Kings Landing to take the Throne so the easiest way to be the King for the side of Robert is to Marry to Cersei because that is a proposal of Tywin Lannister to Robert Baratheon to Marry Cersei for unite of the 7 Kingdoms since they are already in the Kings Landing. Robert Baratheon is also not right to choosed Jeoffrey to be the future King of the Kings Landing that he command to Ned Stark, since Jeoffrey is not he's real son, Ned Stark know the truth that Gendry Baratheon is he's real son and having a Rightful claimed after the death of Robert Baratheon. While Stannis and Renly is both selfish to the power they hate each other.

I have to wonder that Ned was so against killing Daenaerys because it reminded him that Rhaegar's son is Jon. If he hadn't had that burden, Ned would not bat an eye on Robert's decision to murder Dany. If he agreed to kill her, it's as if he failed to protect Jon.

I looooved Robert Baratheon sooo much. He was a drunken womanizer but ultimately he was a great king because he just lived his life. What a weird situation Ned’s whole existence is… Targaryens killed his father and brother yet one of them loved his sister and now he raised his sisters Targaryen son and he loves him. Ned ultimately if sympathetic to Targaryens now yet his best friend wants to murder all of them for his sister and his brother and father…. Neds probably like “ wow… what a friend… thank you “ but also “ fuuuck shits getting real tooo close “ I also wonder if Ned ever told Robert about Jon snow if Robert would’ve treated him like a son too because his love for Liana.
