What I admire most about Joan is how she has lived this life to its absolute fullest. Yes, there were failed marriages and being in and out of money throughout, but she left it all out on the table and went after her dreams. I'm sure that has a lot to do with why she's still working, vibrant, and alive well into her 90s. Loving what you do has a lot to do with it.

This movie follows the book pretty well.

Sammy Joe and Paige Vanessa were enemies in dynasty, poor Dame Collins had a very difficult time with those younger ladies trying to control her by dressing more extravagant (a vintage version of body shaming) type outfits and having fresh hairstyles each month, Dame Collins felt those younger women suffered with jealousy towards her which I think was true, poor Dame Collins suffered a lot at the dynasty studios during the 80's , it took almost 40 years for her to speak out about this awful situation!

Two things which I wondered: why did Lebel NOT throw his overcoat down when he started running toward the Jackal's lair and up the stairs. Wouldn't the coat slow him down? Another thing, if they suspected a shot was going to be fired why didn't they put de Gaulle behind the bodies of security men to protect him from a shot? The ceremony could have waited a few minutes while they surrounded the building and searched for the Jackal. Despite that I loved the film when I saw it as a teen. It was our Christmas movie that we all saw in the high school auditorium the day we got out for vacation. JH and HS saw it.

Great film. Only one thing always bugged me. Why did the Jackal not shoot deGaulle while the anthem was playing? He would stand absolutely still for a whole minute.

There are so many things to like about Joan Collins. She's beautiful, intelligent, smart, classy, a very good business woman, a good writer, but most of all she is a wonderful mother. Keep on keeping on Joan Collins.

Joan Collins is such an idiot , and so tacky, french n Saunders got it so right, cheesy crap, for a British woman she does not get irony, tacky programme, bad acting,

Joan has a very strange idea about women in business, and good female role models. IMO Alexis is the antithesis of those things. Her entire raison d'etre was emotional, ie she wanted to get revenge on her ex-husband husband Blake. Initially she tried to bring him down in a murder trial, then she sought out his enemy, Cecil Colby, and got into a relationship with him just to get her revenge on Blake. Then, when he died, she used her inheritance (Cecil's company) to repeatedly try and put Blake out of business. I don't remember her making a single business decision unless it punished Blake in some way. So... she did absolutely nothing "businesslike" to obtain power (she slept her way to the top) then she ran her business following her emotions, rather than based on good business sense, for 9 years! In other words Joan played the 1980s mysoginists idea of a woman in business.

I’m surprised that they gave him a dignified burial. I would have expected that they would wrap him up in plastic and dump him in a landfill.

I saw the movie before and wondered how did he expect to escape? The authorities would have sealed the area up in a moment. 😊
