The irony is wind and solar are AWFUL ways to generate electricity, they either over or under produce most of the time. Very expensive and destructive to the environment.

Came here to fact check Trump. This is such a stupid thing to get up in arms about. The US, in total, has about 1,600 square miles of wind turbine land. About a 10th of it consists of retired windmills that are ACTIVELY being torn down and replaced with newer and more efficient models. Yes, while the blades themselves are difficult to recycle because of some unnatural material, compare this to the DOUBLE the amount of square miles (relative to the amount of retired windmills) in the country dedicated to car graveyards - overproduced vehicles densely packed into small areas. All perfectly good and functional when they're committed to the yards. Chemicals, batteries, unrecyclable because the businesses would lose money. So they sit and rot and leak onto the land they're on. ACTUAL pollution and significantly harder to recycle because the land is purchased to store them to prevent the car market from collapsing. Literally just paid pollution as opposed to structures rotting and eventually being demolished to replace with newer variations.

These turbines are old. Only 0.65 MW capacity. New ones last longer and produce 1.5 MW on the low end and beyond 6 MW on the high end. Sad to see them left behind, company should really clean those up.

My aunt has a windmill that looks similar on the farm property that she bought. I was really exited because she told that I can turn it on if I can. And I tried turning it with the control cabinet on and the nacelle can still spin around but for some reason we can't get the blades to spin. My aunt would also like it if it actually worked.

I wonder if they had to have a decommissioning plan when they created this project? One of the reasons I am against these megaprojects.

Can't relate since I'm in az and probably won't leave az until 2 years from now since I don't have the money to go to Cali, but idk watching vids of Cali or vlogs of ppl going through Bakersfield feels nice. Idk if I'll experience the California dream but someday I really hope I do.

Hurts to see the wind turbines I grew up around treated like this. I do miss the Kenetechs, Micons, Nordtanks, Windmatics, James Howdens, Polenko, WEG, Bonus and Enertechs though 😞 They were taken down between 2005-2017 besides these ones. Also there’s still a Fayette turbine near the highway
