G'day to you1 Thanks Goodness some thing is finally being done about this Wonderful and Rare Aircraft ,what history it has. the stories it could tell, its very Hard being 12000 km away and you keep seeing these parts of History being left to Rot! Perth West Aust.
Keep in touch (subscribe) as we will follow this though.
I hope it gets restored well!
I am sure it will.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Its like the worlds biggest Airfix kit.
So pleased it is going to a museum.
Likewise.
Nice video, I remember a crashed aircraft on ths hillside at Scampton used to see it in the 80s late 90s..and also the Lancaster that was parked on display in the front carpark.
The heart bleeds...
Most of the cars look like EVs so give it a few days and it’ll all be carbon and ash!
“Yes mate, just put the sidewinder over there on the grass while speed tape this jet back together”
Drove past the other day and wondered if they were still there.... Can't see from the road anymore
Yes they are.
Cool video that is very intresting to watch new subscriber
Thank you.
is this place still open or is it an aircraft dump?
The Victor, Comet and Nimrod are private and family owned. Soon maybe to become a museum.
Why are you flying a drone in a military airfield?
Hi. As stated previously, not many realize it, but the airfield is now closed and the Flight Restriction Zone removed.
No I wonder who going in there
With CCTC and on site security - I guess no one.
@@MavisTheDrone really not long will have the people arriving on boats there
@@Kierenstanden-qz7eu If they do arrive, not only will they see the cameras and security protecting the site, but they will also see the local supporters living outside in temporary camps, trying to keep RAF Scampton's history alive.
@@MavisTheDrone I hope so mate. I can see why they are abandoning it. Whats the point having this if we can’t even defend our borders lol kalergi plan all the way.
@@MavisTheDrone you hear about the ship in Liverpool that served during ww2 supplying the country with food? They scraped it for somthing to do with slaves
Detached to Binbrook from 60 M.U great time in the 60s , hard work , curing the fuel leaks , I discovered a broken fuel pipe bracket which had worn into a live pressurised feel line , causing all the Lightings to be grounded for fleet checks . Transpired about one third of the RAF’s fleet had damaged lines, popular or not 😂fond memories, could not understand why MOD closed the base. Ideally placed for interception.
Remember to toot when passing the main gate! 🎉
we lived on the main road above Bruntingthorpe we saw all sorts fly in heard them testing the vulcan engines saw it take off and land ... jumbo jets circling then landing it was fantastic to see
Great catch and find
Awesome flying and capture
I was at RAF Binbrook in late 1950’s. with 12 squadron’s Canberra B6s . Still in Suez Idents. Memories
The two other aircraft are an F-4 Phantom and bizarrely I think a Mig-21?
Make a dragstrip, motorcycle meeting place and concert arena... "Scamp's Speed Week" 🙂
Boy O boy Yes. I have great memories of Santa Pod :-)
What a shame. It was a great place to see the fast taxy runs.over the years. With all the different groups, keeping there collection of post war etc jets running. Don`t think there is anywhere like that now.
How things change. That was the airport where XH558 was returned to flight and where Teasin' Tina made the last flight of the Victor. I can't think what they need the runway for, surely there's plenty of places where cars can be parkedv without bothering anybody. I read that there's guaranteed win of 15 million on the lottery. If I won it I'd buy the place, turf them out and get the fast taxi days going again.
I think for these 3 aircraft, they are now beyond the point of recovery. The last time I was there which was just after COVID, they had deteriorated badly as water had got in and nature had started to take them back. For example, the Victor AEO panel which controls electrical power had been badly damaged by water which meant ground power couldn't be applied. Together with water damage to contactors etc in the plenum chamber which weren't repairable or replaceable due to lack of spares, it's a non-starter. The Nimrod and Comet had similar problems and without the spares and expertise which have dried up, it's not going to happen.
My late father served here before he met my mum. Not sure exactly when he was there, but he joined up in about 1950, and left in about 1956. He was a flight sergeant by the time he left, and I remember him telling me about how he had to guide Lancasters into land.
You may find it interesting if you look up his squadrons daily diary in the PRO at Kew. Maybe even some photos.
@@MavisTheDrone It probably would be interesting, but I live in Wales, so unless it is available online, I won't be seeing it any time soon....
The Phantom IIF-4F 37+89...a German Aircraft?
Ex Wittmundhaven.
Had some good times at Binbrook Crash Gate 3. Watching the Lightnings in the last couple of years in RAF service. Then going to the Lightning Assoviation Rally`s later on
It looks very run down with not a lot of foot fall. The largest of the aircraft look terribly neglected and left on one side and appear one step away from being broken up.
I think a car storage company may have given residents notice to quit in 2020. As a result, many aircraft were either scrapped or moved. An idea was also put forward to construct a museum off the aerodrome, to house those aircraft remaining under the control of a company owned by the former Directors of C Walton Ltd.
@@MavisTheDrone Thank you for the information, I do hope they can sell these aircraft even for scrap value to enthusiasts but as always storage is a major problem for most. A pity to see them all going for scrap[
Does anyone know what became of the team that used to look after the Victor, Nimrod and Comet until a couple of years ago? I know things fell apart around/after COVID but supposedly they were going to lay a concrete slab for the Victor so it could have the engines run from time to time, but that hasn't happened. To be honest, I doubt any of them will run again as they've deteriorated to the point where they can't be brought back to life without an awful lot of work, time and dedication which doesn't seem to be around any more.
@@125brat They are all disposable in the end.
In the past I knew someone involved with the restoration of the Vulcan there. They arranged a tour to see the Vulcan being restored and around the static park of aircraft. It wasn't long after a 747 had been flown in. It was amazing to see a Super Guppy up close. It is a shame to see the aircraft decaying. The Victor is a favourite especially from head on. I think the most beautiful jet airliner ever is the Vickers VC10.
That VIctor still looks like it should be out there attacking the deathstar.
Lovely view of the Comet
Whoa. An Su-17!
SU-22
From the entrance road I would suggest a Meteor (Mk7?), Sea Hawk, Jet provost, Hunter & DH Venom. Not too sure about the Hunter. Its fuselage is too slim for a Supermarine Swift. Possibly a Scimitar???
Wonder if the pink coloured aircraft is a Supermarine Attacker?
A Sea Hawk FB.5 I believe.
They do deserve a better sanctuary. They have a story to tell. Lets hear about it! Such a shame 😢 UK.
Should be under cover and preserved. Really sad to see
This is where tax payers money go!
I wish it did, but it is a private collection.
Just wondering how a russain fighter got there.just asking 😂
Maybe thanks from Putin for the UK Goverment arranging Brexit-and all the self harm it has done to the British Economy and Society, including the Armed Forces. If some foreign agency wanted to ruin a country, the UK Government took it straight from the Kremlin Playbook. It is as if they are working for Putin, just like Trump and the Republican Party. I think that is a strong possibility, or our MPs are just stupid, but I think Russian money talking to to them is very likely, mixed with gullibility and stupidity.

Does the Buccaneer have airbrakes open?
yip
So... here's where the families curiously made out of just one, single, military age male, are going to train themselves to destroy the country that gave them "shelter"?
Hawker sea hawk!........ extremely rare!.... Why has it been left sitting there rotting away!......needs to be preserved along with the meteor sitting next to it.....
Totally agree.
With the way the world is just now maybe Scampton should be recommissioned.
It isn't actually fully closed, was still in use for Night training last time I was there.
Taking them away now I believe on to Leeming
This was filmed w/e 28 April.
I think they should turn Scampton in to a museum.
Drone photography doesn’t make someone a photographer. It’s another angle, thats it. RUclips full of this now. The more who do it, the less value it has. Remember that.
Who wants to be a photographer? Mavis just likes looking at aircraft, and if she can show them to those who cannot travel, she is happy :-)
it's another tool in a photographers toolbox
Leave Mavis alone.
How did you go about getting permission to fly in this restricted zone?
Why is it restricted, nothing flies from there anymore.
The FRZ has been removed and the danger area, which is activated by NOTAM, was not active. But a call to Wad was still made.
It isn't actually fully closed, was still in use for Night training last time I was there.
@@rafbarkway5280 Not sure when you were last there, but both the airfield and FRZ are now totally deactivated. Even the runways are showing the familiar X
@@MavisTheDroneI read on the news yesterday that the Mach lop in north Wales have band drones because some idiot had a near miss there, I think it was last week 😮,
Can I have the Buccaneer please?
HHA stuff going to leeming.
These jets should be a museum at RAF SCAMPTON along with the Vulcan and Canberra from Doncaster in a first class facility in the North of England for all aviation enthusiasts to enjoy especially all the aircrew who flew and maintained these classic aircraft, but no the government decide to house migrants there 😢😢
And kept the museum of RAF firefighting there with the huge collection of fire engines and equipment. The Scampton heritage centre was a ready made museum, and an ex RAF friend of mine said there were rumours of having the Red Arrows kept there as an attraction as well as possible relocation of the BBMF from Coningsby. Would have been a world class attraction.
nice vid. note its a Phantom F4 not a 4F.
Whilst I would take your word for it, you appear to be out-voted by those who say it is an F-4F. But I would love no know for sure to keep the record straight.
it's an F-4F ex German Air Force
Non-expert “expert” alert!
Stationed there 75-77 working on Vulcans. 💔 😢
