Trick to hear what your microphone is hearing with the Tascam Model 12
Trick for delaying your audio so you can hear what the microphone hears, or what a dynamics processor is doing and not being masked by the volume of the instrument in the room. Make sure to undo these settings after you have got your mic set up.

    I want to mention that while you are improvising, or at least me, I just quickly in my mind try and either jump to the house box and then, even with my eyes closed, I do see the teapot and now I got all the other notes I normally would be fishing for, right there, bam. and moving to Eric, which can be the Mixolydian Scale if you are using the Major Scale patterns, which I just add the notes in. For example, Now I visualize Arnold as Mixo, and Eric and Minor Scale (he is depressed maybe), and where the house is, in the Major Scale with The root on the middle finger, so moving between minor scales, major scales, ect. Super easy. But more importantly, Fun.

    The pentatonic scale is very easy to learn. But not like this. Learn the five notes of an octave then repeat EXACTLY THE SAME SEQUENCE starting from the higher root. You can do this from any root on the neck. Because you are going diagonally, you will never be "trapped in a box"

    • @pl5065
      @pl5065 8 месяцев назад

      I agree, you need to understand the notes. But for purely learning the shapes, this story certainly worked for me. Yes, it doesn’t stop there, but I immediately knew and can easily recall all 5 shapes after finding this video. I think it’s brilliant.

    • @HighStakesDanny
      @HighStakesDanny 8 месяцев назад

      This is just the start and brilliant!!!

    • @HighStakesDanny
      @HighStakesDanny 8 месяцев назад

      Um, the whole point of the guitar is to tune it in a way in order to learn a few shapes and transpose to other keys in an instant by just moving the shape. Boxes are the point of it, shapes, movable chords. Easy of playing. Moving between shapes is the key, the caged system shows that. Find the root and build out from there using the shapes makes the guitar very easy to play in any key. Boxes are not the enemy.

    • @jeanlejeune2288
      @jeanlejeune2288 8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for checking out the video. I don’t see why you couldn’t incorporate either approach. No one is saying this is the only way, but also I don’t see how the position approach is a trap, especially since I am showing them all together as pieces that fit together spanning the whole neck. I think learning lots of ways to approach the guitar is the best way. This approach is especially geared towards people who have a better capacity for learning through narratives as opposed to straight memorization such as people with dyslexia or those that just learn differently. The memorization of dots approach never had any sticking power for me I forgot it after a short time. Making a story out of it changed everything, I had a way to get to the information.

    Man I don’t know how to thank , I tried everything with these shapes for major and minor and just as I thought I knew them all ,always this panic mode could appear if I play for audience and then I would feel lost on the next best note. I think the shapes are not intuitive for humans and therefore easy to make some mistake. Your system gives me all the structure I need and it’s really amazing. Thanks thanks thanks

    *Shapes, Positions = WRONG WAY TO LEARN. INFERIOR WAY TO PLAY* Music is intervals + rhythm. Scales are runs of intervals. Scales are not "shapes". Those who present shapes, show more than one scale at at time. *First, before tackling the pentatonic minor, learn the Ionian scale, aka "the Major scale".* From this scale, you can learn all you need to learn to play rock and roll, blues, country, rock and metal. R M2 M3 P4 P5 M6 M7 All of the intervals are Major 2nds, i.e., two frets up on the same string. *The pentatonic minor scale is the "dropped 2, dropped 6, flat 7" scale.* If you drop the M2 and M6 from the Ionian scale and then flat the M7, thus making it a m7 interval from the root, you have a pentatonic scale. Had first you learned the Ionian and then learned the Mixolydian, i.e., the "flat 7" scale, then learning pentatonic minor would be snap as you are omitting the M2 and the M6 from the Mixolydian. There is only one way to play a pentatonic minor scale, by matching the interval. R m3 P4 P5 m7 The run is thus: E ------ | 1 | x | x | 4 | ---------------------- A ------ | 1 | x | 3 | -------------------------- D ------ | 1 | ---------------------------------------- G ------------------------------------------------------ B ------------------------------------------------------ E ------------------------------------------------------ Or diatonically, E ------ | 1 | x | x | 4 | ------------------- A ------ | 1 | x | 3 | ---------------------- D ------ | 1 | x | 3 | ---------------------- G --------------------------------------------------- B --------------------------------------------------- E --------------------------------------------------- Diatonically, another way E ------ | 1 | x | x | 4 | ----------------------------------------- A ------ | 1 | x | 3 | x | x | 1 | x | 3 | ----------------- D --------------------------------------------------- G --------------------------------------------------- B --------------------------------------------------- E --------------------------------------------------- Diatonically, yet another way E ------ | 1 | x | x | 4 | x | 1 | x | 3 | A ------ | 1 | x | 3 | ----------------- D --------------------------------------------------- G --------------------------------------------------- B --------------------------------------------------- E --------------------------------------------------- Stop with the crazy shapes already.

      While all you have provided is true and perhaps ultimately helps a deeper understanding, I challenge anyone to learn and remember it in the 12 and a half minutes it takes to watch the video. How can it be bad to have learned something from a short video, it might even be the encouragement to learn the theories that underlie it.

    I have a request, I am pausing it on the part with the characters but I can't pause it with all the characters on the notes. Can you make a PDF to download or a new updated video with the Characters playing a larger role on the notes? This is just brilliant and I was thinking of making my own characters but I am not good at arts and crafts. For example, you pick up Eric and than lay down the house. I'd like to try and see it with Eric Standing next to the house.
