Просмотров 3,5 тыс.3 года назад
Fantasy bounding thrift flip - recreating Manolo Blahnik's Marie Antoinette shoes In this video I will be thrift flipping three pair of shoes from depop and chairty shops into 18th Century inspired court shoes. I took all of my inspiration from the shoes Manolo Blahnik created for Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette and the iconic 'I want Candy' scene, which I have tried to recreate in the reveal....

Disney Belle's dress: but make it historically accurate Beauty and the Beast is set in the 18th Century, and so for my Historically Accurate Disney princess Belle Costume, I went for a (somewhat) historically accurate 18th century Robe a la Francaise, using a mix of the Simplicity 8578 sewing pattern, and the American Duchess Guide to 18th Century Dressmaking. This of course goes over my 18th c...

Hand-painting Disney Corset: Belle Costume!

Hand-painting Disney Corset: Belle costume Beauty and the Beast is said to have been set sometime in the 18th Century, and so I have decided to make a 'historically accurate', or 'historically adequate' (as Sewstine puts it) Belle Disney Princess costume. Up first? The 18th Century undergarments, and specifically the 18th century corset (the stays) which after sewing, I used the Beauty and the ...

I tried following a Morgan Donner Tutorial (Chemise á la Reine) + bum-roll & under-skirt!
Просмотров 7 тыс.3 года назад
I tried following Morgan Donner's Chemise a la Reine (or chemise a la rainbow) tutorial, but added my own twist with a bum-roll and underskirt (as I don't have these things! The Chemise a la reine was a dress made popular by Marie Antoinette in the 1790's, and soon all the royal ladies were donning the near-transparent dresses! I also used some tips from Bernadette Banner. Morgan's video: rucli...

I wish you still made videos, i really enjoy yours!
I have a Boué Soeurs dress with the silk flowers. I am interested in your research. I know of another dress for sale for $400.00. the seller knew nothing about Boué Soeurs.
Remember Beaty and the beast was set just a couple years before or after the French Revolution
Very pretty 😀

Very pretty 😀
Good analysis! And maybe you would enjoy reading the work of Georgette Heyer.
So pretty!
You did such a wonderful job!! So sweet! 🌸💕
Lovely!
Gorgeous!❤😂
Thanks for the video! I've always been intrigued by the gloves Belle wears and was confused as to why they were removed for the live action version. Were they also not historically accurate?
No offense it give the essence a bit but missing enough fabric. They’re were yards upon yard all made with tiny pleats all the way around. Also the type of cotton is almost see through.
Awesome! Have you tried leather paint? How well does the acrylic hold up?
Oh my! It's so good!!!! 💜💜💜 I'm gonna attempt to make this soon, and watching this boosted my confidence to do it😁
I'm making a pair of men's 18th century shoes for a masquerade Ball that I'm attending in August of 2023. Thank you for the Liquitex/acrylic white 2 layer tip!
I would've loved something like this on the Disney live adaptation but alright I'll leave that alone. There are plenty of great beauty and the beast adaptations and plenty of creative at-home/DIY designers who make historical, vintage, anachronistic or modern reinterpretations of Belle's dress, and you're one of them 💛💖
I need you to recreate the fur pair 😍
I LOVE THIS VIDEO you did such an awesome job the shoes look amazing and the end video montage with reference to the movie 😭soooo perfect WONDERFUL ABSOLUTELY WONDERFULLL im inspired for my marie antionette costume now
I have used a light misting from a spray glue, Super 77, I think, on a very thin silk, habotai, which I used to cover a shoe. Worked perfectly.
Soo much work. Turned out gorgeous
Really cool!
These are incredible. Amazing job!
Thank you so much!!
That event looked like so much fun, and your dress was stunning!
Aww thank you - yes it was very rushed hehe
Ahh what an absolutely beautiful gown especially in that time frame 😮😍
Thank you! So kind!
The Revealllllll!!!!! I've been meaning to shoot my own version for ages, and yours is too glorious for words!
Aww thank youuu! I absolutely LOVED making that - and cannot wait to see what you do with yours oh my goshhh!!
If it's any comfort, me and Vander were both hand sewing the final touches to our outfits in our hotel room the night before too!
The sign of an excellent sewist I say ;)
leaving a dress mid-stitch: too relatable
Had to be done eek
Absolutely gorgeous. I have that same pattern and just haven't gotten around to working it. You have given me some great ideas. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you so much! And of course, would love to see what you come up with!
I just discovered your channel and I'm delighted! Historical Disney? Elle.Lexxa? I'm sold!

If I already have a self-drafted bodice block, do you think I would still need to create one following the instructions in the book? I tried messaging the author, but did not receive a reply.
Ummm - you might be able to work it from the diagrams, but I would probably say no, because you need to use the numbers on the original block :(
I love the Marie Antionette movie! The visuals, the costumes, the dialogue. I love it so much I bought it online. Pretty corset too 😁
yassss me too! I've actually recently done another video where I thrift-flip shoes to make the Manolo Blahnik shoes as worn in the I want Candy scene - so you can have a look at that if you so wish xx
awesome video, thanks for sharing...
The hair is perfect, too!
Thank you!!
I wouldn't have ever thought of painting my shoes! Your made over shoes are lovely.
Thank you!!
This video is so good! Marie Antoinette is a favorite film of mine. I think you did a terrific job with your version of the shopping/gambling scene!!! Thank you very much for sharing!!
Aww thank you so much for your lovely comment! I really enjoyed trying to recreate/ taking inspiration from that scene it's one of my fav films too!
You're so funny! <3
Dawww xx
The lavender ones are spectacular! Also I’m always amazing at how good at painting you are. You’re so talented
Awww thank you so much! Yesss the purple seem to be popular 💜
Green and gold go together perfectly well. Sincerely, an Australian.
Heheh of course!
What a great use for scraps! *Brain churning with ideas* I struggle to find cute shoes in size, so thank you.
Of course! If you do end up making any I would LOVE to see!
oh, I loved this video! The reveal is so aesthetic!~~ The shoes came out lovely and I loved the editing of this entire video! If you ever want to cover shoes with fabric in the future, I recommend spray adhesive. It has more of an even coating and you don't have to press the fibers as much into the glue, thus no bleeding, like what you dealt with. However, the paint job is so lovely and the colours came out great!! Now, I demand a new outfit for every pair!
Thank you so much! The reveal took an age so I'm glad you liked it! And thanks so much for the tip! I will definitely have to try that next time as I've always wanted to cover shoes with fabric but it never goes my way :((((
These turned out so nice ! I want to make my own now ! Working on this thrift flip was so much much fun I loved it !
Thank you! Oohhh you should definitely go for it they were a fun challenge!
Omg! They’re so fabulous!!! I love them all !!!
Thank you so much !!
