    That's disappointing. That said, it's not a big surprise that you lost your g3 pawn to the rook. Because earlier, at 10:56 you came really close to playing f4 to kick the knight, not noticing that black would have Bxe3+ forking king and rook. In the end you didn't play it - but it was fortunate because you didn't see the black threat. At the end you are saying that Rxh3+ is a brilliant move at 21:13 and you wonder how they spotted it. However, it is not so hard. Instead of Rxh3+ they could have played Rg4 or Rg5 or Rg6 or Rg2+ or Rf3+ or Re3+ or Rd3+. They all lead to mate. Your position is so bad. So almost any rook move was mate so it was no surprise they found one. But look, you played well, despite what stockfish says. You were winning easily until your huge blunder. I think the main problem was that your opponent moved really fast. They had nearly 15 mins on the clock at end you had 2 mins. So you were harried into moving faster than you would like and I think that is why you were not noticing all of black's threats. But despite that, if you had not played that horrible move at the end that lost g3 you probably would have won.

    Enjoy your videos; thanks for recording! Question: do you feel that knowing openings helps you? I play my games simply using logic and am at near 1300 - never tried to learn any openings. I'm curious how learning openings helps your game...or is it just knowing the basic strategy your opponent is going to play. Because once they make one move that's not along the correct lines, you are basically just playing chess....thoughts?

    • @NetChessNChill
      @NetChessNChill 16 дней назад

      Thanks for watching, yeh it’s good to know a bit of an opening for white and against d4 and e4 (for black). You won’t need all the theory in the world but getting positional advantages early on can be really helpful in your overall development as a player. I still have a long way to go but i enjoy the journey!

    d6 is backwards in the benoni so finding the best squarwes for your pieces to pressure is good putting a bishop on f4 and rerouting your knight from f3 to d2 then to c4 to pressure black, and always play a4 first you dont want counterplay with b5

    Great game - very good win against a strong opponent. I thought you were always winning. 26:35 You nearly went wrong here though. You were thinking about Qc3 or Bc3. You chose Bc3. However, I am not sure you had noticed that Qc3 would lose a piece because black would just play fxe5. Also you kept saying you were worried about your back rank. Why on earth for? You always had the h2 escape square. There was never any danger on your back rank.

    Against d4 c5 I would recommend just taking and trying to transpose into an e4 opening, also in the opening when you talked about his bishop trying to pin your knight after ne5 and takes if he tried to pin your knight you had a fork with your queen, I suggest making a habit out of looking for checks and forks in situations like that

    • @NetChessNChill
      @NetChessNChill 22 дня назад

    32:18 'backing the rook up' to c3 so you can put the bishop on a3 to skewer his queen on d6 and rook on f8 33:35 yeah this was a checkmate threat sacking the bishop and taking with the g3 rook to deliver checkmate in 3, same as you explained at the end but sacking the queen there. 33:43 missed analysis--rook x f6, if his rook takes f6 back then bishop xf6 and will be able to windmill your rook to pick up the queen after a check sooner or later if queen tries to run and you corral it with your queen. the bishop move to hit his queen wasn't necessary since the queen wasn't threatening anything and not secure there anyway. definitely easier to see when you're more relaxed observing, lol but ya got the win and played well!

    13:50 really thought it would end like Opp plays Re8, you Qc2 and then Opp makes some random move and just hangs Qc7#. But damn man, really?. Can´t stress hard enough the simple principles of chess. Your opp moves. The first thing to check is if that move does anything.....but well we only learn through mistakes.

    That is simply ridiculous. Did you not consider what black might be thinking when they played Rg8? You were so far ahead. I definitely thought you were going to win. 16:53 I saw a nice video by a GM where he suggested a method to avoid most blunders. He said you should look to see if your opponent has any pieces that can enter your half of the board and capture anything. In this case you should look at the bishop on f6 (it can attack d4 and h4 but I don't think either are a problem - though Bxd4 might win a pawn). And you should look at the queen - she can attack g2. And that's it. Surely you have the time and energy to check those moves out. It would take just a few seconds. It is seriously worth trying to develop this process so that it is second nature. But in addition to that, whenever an opponent moves you should think - what has changed on the board as a result of that move? So after Rg8 what has changed. Well, if anything the rook is more passive apart from the fact that the g file is half open. And you simply must notice the mate on g2. I wouldn't be too down hearted. It is a horrendous blunder which doesn't bode well for your chances of getting much higher. But on the other hand, I remember when you were struggling to get to 900. Now you are mid 1300s and I think 1400+ is definitely in your sights now. By the way, in this position I don't think Bg3 is great because black has h4. I think I would look to play g3 and then next move (if possible) Qc2 so that you can play Qc7+.

    • @NetChessNChill
      @NetChessNChill 24 дня назад

      I really like that. I do need to blunder check or pinch myself occasionally so im aware of threats on the board. I got comfortable and missed the mate 😢

  • @stephenwestland942
    @stephenwestland942 24 дня назад

    9:58 Nf3?? Nooooooooooo. Moving your knight backwards. You said your knight was a target. That is ridiculous. If black plays f6 you have Nxg6. Surely here, your knight was good in that central position and you probably should play Nb5 threatening Nc7 and Nd6. The thing is, you definitely thought about Nb5 but for some reason didn't play it.

    • @NetChessNChill
      @NetChessNChill 22 дня назад

      It was definitely not my finest moment.

  • @stephenwestland942
    @stephenwestland942 24 дня назад

    5:25 You want to get more pieces involved. How? Surely it is still e4. This would allow Bh6. Yes!!! You played it. I like that.

  • @stephenwestland942
    @stephenwestland942 24 дня назад

    2:30 I think you are way ahead here. Black has played poorly. Too many pawn moves. All their pieces are on the first two ranks. You have three pieces developed. And you have castled. And it is your move. So you are winning. So what to do next. You need to be aggressive here and take advantage. The obvious move is e4. To play exd5 and open up the centre. Get a rook on e1. I am curious whether you do this. [Edit: You played cxd5 which was ok. And then you nearly played e4. You thought about it for sure. But you played Ne5 instead. Personally I don't think this is so good. Obviously it would be if they played f6 but surely they won't. I suspect they will play Nc6 or Bd6 and there is a danger that you allow them to equalise by developing their pieces. You need to think about what is the quickest way to get at their king. Normally it is by trying to rip open the e file.]
