My Secret Weapon For Applying Level Vinyl Decals
Просмотров 15 тыс.7 лет назад
If you use a Silhouette or Circut Machine to create amazing crafts one of the hardest things to do is apply your new designs straight and level. But with this Clip on Stencil Level it's a breeze! Thank you so much for sharing this great information!
Semi gloss Matt or gloss
So… yes, this works… HOWEVER, after some time, they will still peel off. I’ve found that if I combine this process with using HTV instead of permanent, and then apply a touch of heat after I’ve applied it, it stays a LOT longer, especially for projects that ensure the outdoor weather.
How do you get the vinyl to stay without peeling up the sealer!? Every-time I seal a wooden sign and try to apply a decal, the sealer peels up!!!
If you have both a painted and varnished sections on a piece, would you need to seal the painted section of the wood as well before applying the permanent vinyl? Thanks
Thanks for the tip.
Thank you so much for showing us this!!! (Btw - I LOVE your sign! 🤗)
Good video! Would you recommend going over the vinyl decal with finish (e.g. polycrylic) to protect it? I'm worried about it peeling or bubbling over time.
I’m needing vinyl to stick to stained wood wedding gust book sign. Will a paint marker work over poly?
Just wondering after you applied the decal can you put another coat on top to seal the decal if it’s gonna be something that is outside?
Which is better satin, gloss, semi gloss or flat?
Any suggestions for making my husband a wood cutting board that he can continually use n wash even with the vinyl design I want to put on it?
What if it's sanded wood? Will it stick without a sealant?
Have you ever tried to use wall decals on painted wood and then seal with poly acrylic?
Michelle this my question now,lol by any chance did those wall decals apply to a painted surface
Thank you for the video. It was easy to follow and got straight to the point!
LOL! At 1:30 I would have been done.. Next
Google on why my vinyl wont stick to wood...your video came up...thank you so much for making this video...makes sense now...tfs
Oh my gosh, this totally fixed my problem thank you so much
🔥🔥🔥
Fabulous
What if your transfer tape isn't cut level. This wouldn't work unless it is. Not sure mine usually is.
Or if your board isn’t level, or the easel it’s on.
Do you put a coat on afterwards
What if wood is grainy, bumpy like
Oh m God 😳 you are so awesome. I watched around of 15 videos looking for this exact information and they said nothing to me. But you as an angel just came and give the tip in 3 min or less. THANK-YOU
Wow...THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was so frustrated with not being able to get the vinyl to stick. I eventually figured that it was the oils in the stain so I applied alcohol to the surface and that still didn't work. So again, thanks, gotta run out and get some polyacrylic!
Thank for this great information!
Hi! I stained some wood, did 1 coat of polycrylic and waited 24 hours to apply vinyl. As I peeled up the transfer tape, some of the polycrylic came with it. How can I keep this from happening again?
Same thing happened to me..on my next project I try to put it on after..but my letters still want to lift..a friend told me to try a heat gun over it ..I think it works
Great job! I new to Cricut-ing and primary am focusing on wooden projects. You have THE best tip ever! Thanks so much! 🙏 Be well….
Will the same work with regular polyurethane?
Thanks!! This helps so much!
Can you epoxy over poly acrylic?
I'm new at making signs, but I've done woodwork and worked with stain and polyurethane many times. I was told to stick on the letters before sealing them. I didn't agree with what I was told because I know there's oil in so many wood stains. Thanks for making & sharing this quick video.
I've understood that putting it on afterwards can yellow the vinyl if white. But I'm here to learn as well 😊
I'm a beginner to Cricut and have had an awful time sticking my designs to my wood projects. Your video saved my sanity and kept me from throwing my projects across the room. Lol. Thank you so much!
I spent all night weeding out an intricate design and had to throw the whole thing away!!! WIsh I had seen this first
How long do you wait after you use polyurethane to put on vinyl?
She said she waits 20 minutes but the product recommends waiting two hours to dry.
Perfect! You’re awesome! Just what I needed! Thank you!
Helped me, thx
I was having the same problem and found out that I overstained my wood leaving a tacky residue on the top layer. The way to fix this is get some mineral spirits and a 220 grit sanding black and scrub off the top layer until the stain is no longer tacky. I wanted to try the seal first but didn't want to chance ruining my project. But I'm definitely glad I found this will work!
If you think you put too much and it's still drying, use painters tape to "peel" off the top layer so you don't have to sand as much later. Saves a bit of time in any case where you add to much or even see some orange peel
Exactly what kind of polycrylic are you using?
What kind of vinyl did you use for the wood pls?
Thank you 🙏🏻 I was wondering if I should seal it before or after and you answered my question!
I'm building an outdoor table and want to decorate it with stickers. Per your tip, I will paint a layer of poly before I put the stickers in place. I want to seal the entire table after I apply the stickers. Should I seal the table and stickers with a water-based poly or is there another product I should use?
Is it polyurethane like you said or polycrylic like the can says...
Oh I only heard her say polycrylic. Not sure if the other can be used.
do I need to seal after putting the vinyl if its going to be outside in the elements?
What type of vinyl should be use on wood? Can polyacrylic be applied for both and outside decor?
Helpful. Thank you
Thank you so much for making a quick and straight forward video to help fix this issue!! Much appreciated! Xo
Thank you for this video. I have been looking for a way to keep my vinyl on the wood for a couple years now
Straight to the point!. Thx!.
That's awesome saved my project. thanks girl. New sub! Can't wait to see more.
Quick ?. Did you sand the poly lightly after applying it? Or left as is and just applied your vinyl??
