My friend and I used to DJ at our college radio station and played these guys a lot and nobody knew who they were. Then we saw them at a small crappy club in NJ where like 10 people were there and they were promoting this EP. They were amazing and we had the time of our life. Gene passed a couple of months later and we were crushed.

I saw Lucy Brown several times at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ and they always rocked it. I then went to school in Boston, and saw they were playing at the Channel. I convinced a bunch of people to go. There were maybe 50 people in the entire crowd. They still played at full intensity. At one point, my friend and I were the only two pushing each other around in the "pit", and Gene yelled, "Yeah, fuck it up, Boston!". It was as if we had the privilege of a private show. Afterwards, we talked with them. They were definitely bummed their label didn't seem to be promoting them.
Real funky/groovey sound. Love it man!
